3 Reasons why you aren't climbing in SoloQ explained in detail.
Reason 1: Mindset The key thing to climbing elo that even I and the top league players have trouble with is having the proper mindset. 99% of this game is filled with toxic players. Yes, that probably includes the players that come into the game thinking "I am not gonna get distracted and act toxic". 5 minutes into the game your arguing with a team member, bitching about how bad the other is. Not to mention, you are just gonna keep on going with a toxic mindset until you take a break and detilt; only to start the process all over again. This is an issue for ALL players. Even the ones who THINK their doing good just because their score looks good. Keep in mind, a 6/15 can possibly be doing better than a 15/6 just because the 6/15 is in a calm state of mind that he is just doing so much around the map and playing around his strengths. Although, if you are doing well and you are acting toxic. Wtf man. That's actually the worst person that can tilt, because they are probably the main carry of the team and your not only tilting yourself but tilting your team. Just focus on how you play and don't tilt. It is as simple as that. The mindset you need should result in this at the least: Mindset that doesn't tilt you or your team. So long as you have mastered a mindset that can provide those specifically, then you easily have the potential to be challenger. No joke. That's all it takes. Simply because you can take all the time you want to get better at that game, it really isn't that hard. The true test is finding that perfect mindset.
Reason 2: Your playing something that can't really carry At least in lower elo you can really carry with anything. And I mean literally ANYTHING. But if you wanna be able to carry every game . You have to face the fact that it has to be alligned with these key factors: 1. Meta (or at least somewhere alligned in the meta aspect) 2. Something you know for sure you can carry with. 3. Knowing your weaknesses with the champion you play and playing around it There is so many players who do so poorly because they wanna be rebels or they THINK something is spectacularly good. I will go over these things. Keep in mind I am a jungle main, so I guess I am mostly talking about in the aspect of junglers:
1.Tanks: Tanks are just NOT carries. You think Tahm Kench is OP? ( Honestly, I don't think so but w/e) Ok. So you play Tahm every time. Let's say you are playing Cinderhulk Tahm Kench jungle. You know what you bring to the table but you got nothing that can eliminate a target instantly or end the fights in a blink of an eye. You are good in sustained fights, which let's be honest even if the fights are lasting awhile; the fight can end just like that at any given moment. So, the fight starts and you go on the backline: ZED ULTS ON YOUR MF AND SHE DIES. Your aced. Why? Because your a tank and tanks can't carry on their own generally speaking. "Oh, how about I peel for MF?" Their team jumped on your Ahri and killed her. Your aced. Why? Because even if you peel for someone keep in mind you are not peeling for EVERYONE. Not to mention, just because you "peel" for someone, it doesn't mean she is guaranteed to survive. Just the fact that it took 1 Zed to take your MF and yourself out of the fight puts you at a heavy disadvantage already. This was the reason almost every jungler ended in divisions lower than they normally do. I ended S4 Diamond and I think I ended plat this season? No nvm I decayed to gold after I stopped playing. lol. Yeah, S5 you literally had to only play tank junglers or it just wasn't fair. Anyways, just keep in mind that when someone says "Oh! but tanks totally win games! We need a tank" Those people probably don't know jackshit on how to carry on their own. Just be your own carry and DONT PICK TANKS. If one of your teammates pick a tank, awesome! May make it a little bit easier for you to carry. If your entire team is full of carries, that just means everyone has the intention to carry and this is soloQ. Team comp doesn't matter in the end. That said, focus on your own play at all times.
2.Devourer Devourer is like the cheat code you wanna use to just be a broken monstrosity that can carry the game 1v5 late-game. There's just one issue. At all times of the game before you reach that spike you are vulnerable. Your anus is literally opened to the enemy.. "OH! but the enemy in my elo don't know how to invade and take advantage of my weak early stage!" It doesn't matter! Even if they let you freefarm, it's probably because they are too busy ganking all of your lanes until the game snowballs hard enough for you to not even own your jungle. In which case, you can't farm your dev and the game keeps on snowballing and you lost. If you play devourer, your idea is to just farm out the entire game until you reach that spike you so desperately need. "Well, I play a lot of Udyr and I gank a lot and I farm my devourer. Your opinion is invalid!" First of all, Udyr is shit at ganking. His gankability is roughly better than that of Shyvanas or Volibears. It is really difficult to successfully gank with udyr unless the laner is literally under your tower. Second of all, that is extremely inefficient, because you stop farming for your power spike to get a gank off. What is the point of setting yourself behind by purchasing devourer if your trying to play the early game as if you intended to win early. Eh? You lose a few stacks per minute just because of the gank you don't even know will succeed. Third of all, you are counting on your teammates to win lane phase or at the very least last until the late-game without giving a hard lead, even though the game is 4v5 for about 25 minutes roughly. And that is just saying if you guys ACTUALLY survive with a bare minimum in terms of towers, gold ect. Literally, the only time devourer is good (at this moment) is IF you trust your team 100% to survive and even then your win is NOT guaranteed. It is literally worse than tanks, it is the most inconsistent way to try and carry!
3.Absolutely broken shit I don't even know what people consider "broken" at this point. Everyone saying "Rengar is broken asf". Look, I hate Rengar. I don't play him because he is such a boring champion and I hate his kit and everything about him really. I am (was) a Kha'zix player and he is just a much more interesting champion. But people say "Rengar is broken". Wtf? Rengar is about as broken as AD Anivia! "Rito says he's broken! He must be!" A champions isn't broken just because you don't know what the fuck to do when you literally SEE him coming to you! No counterplay my ass! I counterplay the shit out of Rengars all the fucking time! Granted, I am a jungler. I do not share the same position as other players. But, if your telling me you cannot properly time your Ezreal E or even your flash just to get away from 1 OF THE MANY CHAMPS THAT CAN 1-SHOT YOU (Rengar isn't the only one that can do that? Oh shit didn't notice!" Especially when you can SEE it coming... I am sorry it isn't Rengar you are just really bad. Yeah, mistakes happen and surprises can hit you in which Rengar can kill you. That is acceptable. But seriously, you people complain endlessly about this and he's been in the game and relevant for so damn long! Why are you still having so much trouble with this silly bastard? Sorry I ranted a bit there, just the truth... Anyways, people play champs that are broken and think they can win. It is just so silly! Y'know that one player who thinks that they can absolutely carry the game just because the champ they play is broken as shit? Fuck that guy! Although there is a few champs who I consider are broken atm: Ryze, Soraka, Zed and Graves. And the only one who I can really say has NO counterplay is Ryze.
Reason 3: You are not learning from mistakes Just like how I explained with the Rengar situation. You simply aren't taking the time to learn from your mistakes. You are never 1 step ahead and you are taken advantage of every time simply because it doesn't trigger in your mind that you can outplay this the next time it happens. You are too stubborn to think back on the previous game and realize you made mistakes! You may think that this seem like the same reason as reason 1. That this is another mindset issue and IT IS. But it is an issue that is so grand, that it is its own issue that you need to solve. Throw away your pride and admit that you made a mistake or two. Hell, if you played perfectly every game that means you win every game. "No matter how well I play I cannot carry a game on my own!" It is probably a fact that nobody can really play perfectly. Well, it is possible but not consistently. But the fact of the matter is that it is very possible! There is so many ways to play the game and many decisions you can make that 1 player can easily outmaneuver the enemy in every way possible. Just think of it this way: Can Faker carry this game? Yes he can, then so can I. We all have the same potential.
Anyways I am done.
