I feel like crit is unnecessary now

not because "muh rng" or anything of the sort that seems to be a common complaint, but because ADCs for the most part are self-sufficient without it now.

looking at the reworks just sort of made me think that every single one of these champions has a damage steroid that scales pretty well (with crit chance, since RIot wanted to keep it a necessity). Quinn now has constant Harrier procs for very high damage, scaling down to a little over 3 seconds with the standard build putting her at 70% crit. Graves' new autos naturally do more AD than he has if he hits you with all of them, on top of a reload on his E and a dickload of damage in his Q and ult. Miss Fortune's passive gives her a powerful reward for switching targets repeatedly (as well as having an infinite AS steroid if she can do it long enough), on top of her ult being roided out even without factoring in that it can crit now. Kog'Maw doesn't even need crit; he just needs attack speed, damage and penetration and he'll melt anything in front of him.

This isn't considering the reworks for caster items; which strikes me as odd that instead of focusing them on a subset of items with CDR and armor penetration, have crit factored in as well (Essence Reaver.) This double-dipping is just kind of goofy in general, giving AD casters a ton of cost effectiveness if they happen to use crit well by virtue of being AD. Really, the only ADCs I can imagine suffering somewhat if unchanged would be Jinx and Sivir, and even then they'd be relatively simple to tweak to work decently without it.

Is crit really necessary now? It's begun to feel less like a staple of ADC damage and more like tacking it on for even higher DPS-burst on top of their already-powerful kits. Most modern carries could honestly probably function very well without it, but Riot seems to know this, which is why they made Quinn's passive reliant on crit as well as MF's ult (not so much, but you miss out on not buying it.) and Graves' passive giving him more shots if he crits. It seems like they want to keep the mechanic when it's not really required anymore as a means of marksman dealing strong sustain damage. It would probably be tedious for Riot to re-rework these champions right after they've been adjusted like this, but I feel like they missed a good opportunity.

The main objection I have is that crit is indeed a decent balancing lever. It gives champions like Graves and Caitlyn a way to measure out their strength more easily (Graves will shoot 10 shots with an IE crit, Caitlyn passive requires both crit damage AND chance), and it gives Quinn's Harrier a steady way to measure her passive's CD lowering (even though you could just have CDR have a similar effect). Miss Fortune doesn't absolutely need it but she benefits massively from the AS steroid and her ult now. Other champions don't really interact with crit as intricately; Vayne and Tristana benefit from it on account of being AA-heavy, as does Twitch, but it doesn't directly affect the rest of their kits and I would wager that they might be better off having their strengths emphasized without crit existing.

tl;dr I feel that marksman have evolved beyond crit being a necessity and it wouldn't be detrimental to them if it had been removed instead of emphasized. The ones who would drop hard without it can be retuned and brought back up to par.

Slightly less relevant but still related, the Warlord's Bloodlust mastery is fundamentally flawed. There should be a choice between investing in crit or lifesteal; you buy one, you have to wait until you have enough gold for the other. Giving sustain just for having crit is a little absurd and I feel could be replaced with something else.

as a quick edit; I actually see certain melees being slightly worse off without crit (i.e every melee carry + Shaco) but I feel that most of them (Yi is actually pretty well off without it and I don't consider him a balance issue) are in need of a rework right now, hopefully before crit ever gets removed so that they aren't dumpstered while they wait for it.

With how Warlords is changing, I'd actually prefer if they removed crit from Pantheon. Or just rework him.

can´t agree more - ultimatly crit is a rather boring mechanic that doesn´t add much to the gameplay, all it does is amplify rightclicking in the end...so i really would like to see them relay more onto steroids that involve actual gameplay (without RNG!)...and maybe even offer some counterplay instead of just amplifying the rightclick-mechanism, that ultimatly diminishes the difference between all those makrsmen - because in the end the marksmen that rightclicks the best gets played, regardless of his kit.
