Actually unpopular opinion: Shorter games are better

I’m not talking about the games where both teams are even for most the game and it goes to late - Those are fun! Unfortunately, rare. Most games that go 35+ mins fall into 2 categories:

  1. Death by a thousand cuts - Far more common. You sit in or near base and stall, but enemy team grabs all objectives and inevitably overpowers you.

  2. The late game turnaround - You stall forever and eventually comeback. These games are thrilling but as exhausting as they are uncommon.

I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing the average game time for league has gone down. Most games are decided far before it reaches late, and better it just ends honestly.

Honestly I agree, shorted games are better overall. Now don't get me wrong I love a 45-50 min game every once in a while but after 1 or 2 they are just so dull and lose intensity in exchange for monotony

Short games are also what make long games fun. Short games make you appreciate long games, because otherwise it's always "ugh another 45 minute game as one team slowly loses". But with mostly short games the long games feel more intense.

I have an urge to really drag out this discussion

But what makes short games good? The fact that they are not long games?

Short games suffer from issues like.... 1 Ally feeding can cost you the game. Little to no comeback potential. Heavily loaded damage, making skill less useful and picking ops more so. Relegating certain champions to "useless" status.

These are just some of the issues with shorter games. Yes, playing an inevitable loss for 30 min sucks, but playing 2 15 minute games that were stomps with no chance isn't any better.
