one of 2 reasons come to mind,

your play style have made your hidden mmr on par with diamond , in witch case kudos to you
they duo-ed with a person who was a lower level than 17 and the mmr of that combo matched with the mmr of your cumulative team,

i duo with my couse all the time they put lower levels with higher levels nott he other way around.

Whenever you level a level from 1-30 your mmr increases in normals. The game assumes new people will have low mmr and be bad or play bots. So if you play normals and win your mmr increases then you level from winning and getting xp and your mmr increases.

It is made to sort out smurfs from new players and so that new players getting better in bots don't pub stomp other new players. Or something on that order.
