@Riot there's a mage rework coming right?

With the juggernauts and marksmen update mages for me are feeling more bland and outdates especially some few forgotten ones.

Mages got and get reworked silly.

First, they nerf mana regen, next they remove mana pots.

#Reworked.

This really almost made me cry lol

That'll cost you 750 gold

Hourglass is getting fucking shreded, there's going to be more armor pen readily available, ad mids are gonna be dominant, AP items are more expensive... I cry.

I think mages are the best thing about this game , most of them are in good position , but some need rework Cassiopeia

Big Lincoln5 votes

I feel like a couple of them would benefit from having their strengths exemplified. Karthus Syndra Fiddlesticks immediately come to mind.

but tanks drastically need help more IMO, there's not much for variety and their itemization suffers because of bruiser abuse most of the time

Technically bruisers abuse every role's items.

That's why tanks and AD assassins aren't allowed to have good itemization, because whenever they have, bruisers abuse their items.

Big Lincoln2 votes

bruisers have a lot of items for themselves right now

you could solve them abusing tank items by putting threshold requirements or stats that require a much more tank-invested build to see good returns off of, or putting some sort of self-damage punishment on an item that offers very good tank stats to discourage bruiser usage (though that might be hard to deal with)

i feel like this isn't an issue with other games but i don't play them, so i can't really say if they do or don't. more items feels like a good idea though, defensive buys are becoming rather slim at the moment

Great Ozymandius2 votes

This is a good idea. The warmogs is an example of this, although many bruisers will get to 3k health anway and it is more about sustain, but the same principle could apply. The new thornmail is also an example of this in that it needs lots of armor to be effective, though I think it is a bit underpowered right now. Another new example of this is the new mastery that transfers damage taken by an ally to the holder of the mastery, which will greatly reward a peeling tank for building super tanky.

Some possibilities would be an armor item that give a gold inefficient amount of armor but also increases bonus armor by a factor, which would make it gold efficient with three armor items. Another possibility would be an item with an aura that slows projectiles by a fraction of bonus resists (maybe only when activated).

Spot on; kind of sad to see but true.

Yay Syndra my waifu <3

Her Q needs more damage at first level. Her AUTO ATTACKS deal more damage.

Big Lincoln2 votes

I feel like she could stand to feel stronger with more orbs out

or at least since her early game is so bad make her a good pick for late game?

ZT Xperimentor1 votes

I agree, her early game is so pitifully weak she gets curb-stomped so hard she's next to useless.

IxtaliKing4 votes

I agree, mages should be looked at next. Cassiopeia, Karma and Zyra ought to be on the list of mages looked at too.

NEOtheONE1 votes

Karma already had a rework. She doesn't really need a rework again, maybe some slight buffs to shield and her leash to make her more support viable.

IxtaliKing2 votes

Her soft rework took a lot away from her (shield bomb item 3070 ), she needs a bit more of an identity now, it's not satisfactory for her to be somewhere between Lux and Lulu when both picks out class her. Would be good if they made her more of a utility mage than a support, imo.

Voluug133 votes

The thing is, her entire kit concept is extremely flawed. Currently all her numbers are frontloaded into RQ... and that is it. She needs structural changes because she hasa lot of random things like a 1.5s haste that barely helps and keeps her base shield from being buffed. Not to mention she becomes a worse midlaner with every patch she is touched upon, without realistically increasing her support potential.

Riot needs to bring back viable shieldbombing and reduce RQ's lvl 1-3 cheese that consumes so much of her power budget currently. She is outclassed as a support by Lulu and Lux on everything but level 2 cheese.

Also her first rework was a failure: Karma lost enourmous amounts of power, her identity (flexible anti-assassin pick) and her entire purpose as a character (offensive defensive champion with mediocre early and great mid/late... into a lane bully that falls off at level 7 unless massively fed. She had to be massively buffed for 4 patches to reach a mediocre status).

Kassadin What about m-.... I...... Kassadin is ka-Sad

IxtaliKing2 votes

True, Kassadin should definitely be a priority rework. I rare see him and when I do he rarely does well.

Supports need diversity right now more then mid

yeah but theyre all tanks

HayRoss6 votes

I don't think Bard is a tank...

kJs1 votes

More like an off-tank but yeah.

Yrzen1 votes

It's more about mage vs. tank supports and how the latter seems to be omnipresent in comparison to the former.

Meep Man1 votes

Tankier than a Fighter, but definitely not a Tank.

Krys Star2 votes

The AP item changes came out first, then the juggernaut, then the marksmen. If anything, the tanks and supports need their items re-evaluated and looked at again.

Hatless Casual2 votes

non-tank supports need something as well. I guess that could be considered part of the mage buffs since almost all of them are mages.

NEOtheONE1 votes

Anivia needs some love. Everyone and his/her brother just jumps right through her wall. She has no fun interactions with any of the other ice based champions. She's still one of the most mana hungry champs in the game.

Leu071 votes

I think Anivia stands quite strong right now, she really is not that mana hungry, trust me, you don't want a rework and get a Cassiopeia 2.0, that's when she'll be mana hungry.

Voluug131 votes

I think riot hates mages.

"Hurr duurr high ap prices low stats hurur"

On a serious note allegedly, Syndra is getting a passive rework and that could mean mages in general could get reworked.

SnowFall1 votes

Whatever you do, don't change Brand, he is perfectly fine.

morris11 votes

I feel as if the new item 3046 is slightly overkill for assassins and burst mages, but I'll roll with it.

Solidair31 votes

I believe assassins are next.

To that end I am hoping for LeBlanc changes

Ralanr2 votes

It's Assassins or Mages. I don't know where Assassin rework came from, but I do remember something about mages.

I'd rather see assassins reworked. Like ADCs, only a few are really played. Unlike ADCs, they don't really feel mandatory.

I can understand a lot of hatred towards Assassins. No one likes seeing their health bar drop all at once.

Greymoore1 votes

If a mage rework was coming, I would like to see Cassiopeia for obvious reasons, Brand to make him less, land full combo and win otherwise loose or at least make his ult be more reliable. Maybe Annie as well, I love playing her but I know that insta tibbers doesn't allow for any reaction time. The most you can do is try to predict it.

Mickey Donnerudo1 votes

They already did that, don't you remember?

Cassiopeia Veigar Kassadin Mordekaiser

ZT Xperimentor2 votes

Oh you mean terrible reworks? Let's add sona, sion & skarner.

DrNova2 votes

Soon was one of the best reworks ever, stop eating paint chips

Meep Man1 votes

I really wanna see: Anivia Karthus Malzahar Vladimir Ziggs looked at in particular since they either a.) have a very toxic mechanic that is frustrating or potentially damaging to the game or b.) fade into the Mage crowd too much and dont have big identity.

Zedex1 votes

They've already reworked a lot of the pricing on items for mages, I'm not sure that a full class rework for mages in needed though...They seem perfectly fine at what they do, (depending on what mage you pick)..Mid is the most diverse spot in worlds right now, with jungle, top, and ADC being overshadowed by specific champions who's power levels are too high.

Statistically, mages seem perfectly fine to me. Sure, one could argue that Brand (or cassi, the boards love ranting about her changes) is a little weak, but is he really? For the amount of AoE burst % of HP magic damage he can fling out, I'm pretty sure he's in a fine spot. His weakness is no mobility(or even extra, "mini-game" mechanics), and giving him any would need to remove some damage, which is what seems to attract players to his kit. He's a risky champion, because its easy to destroy him in lane if you can outsmart his telegraphed skill shots. But an extremely potent and skilled Brand can come out of his lane with a lot of damage, ready to be combo'd with his team. Hes a very scary champion when overpowered, as are a lot of other mages. (Veigar, anyone!?)

What an amazing argument.

And people wonder why Riot neglects visiting these boards 90% of the time and use Reddit instead.
