Lets compare Fiddlesticks and Amumu ult CD: Why does Amumu's ult have 30 seconds more CD?

Patch 8.4: "League's original mage jungler isn't doing so well, and could use some love."

Fiddlesticks COOLDOWN150/140/130 ⇒ 140/110/80

Meanwhile Amumu : COOLDOWN: 150 / 130 / 110

Similar champs yet Fiddlesticks ult is on a much shorter cooldown especially in lategame. This is literally the difference between winning and losing games due to not being able of contesting Baron, drakes, or generally being useless in forced teamfights. To put matters worse the only core item on Amumu that gives CDR is item 3001. This is the reason why Amumu is trash. Instead of that stupid 'buff' to his E that accomplished nothing reduce his ult cooldown.

Because Fiddle's ult is barely anything like Amumu's ult?

Amumu's ult is a burst of damage and CC. Fiddle's is a shitton of DoT AoE. Lots more damage on Fiddle's ult, but over a longer timeframe and with no CC. The only similarity is that they're both circles.

Yep. Fiddle ult also doesn't stop enemies from auto attacking, and ends when he dies. For Amumu, even if you burst him down somehow before the ability ends, you're still waiting there until the CC runs its course.

Fiddles Ult: damages and silences. Amumu's ult: flat out stuns.

Fiddle ult doesn't silence. That's his E

Amu's ult isn't a stun.

They are both similar in the fact that they are both high impactful AoE spells, focussed to determine the outcome of teamfights. Yet Fiddlesticks gets to do this more often than Amumu and is therefore more reliable. I have lost so many games with Amumu because my ult wasn't up and all other 9 players have it isn't fun to play him any more.

Okay. Brand's ult is also a high-impact AoE spell. As is Illaoi's R. Azir's as well. So is Kindred's. Yet none of these abilities are anything like, other than the fact that they're "high-impact AoE ults".

Also, simply being able to do something more doesn't make a champion more reliable. Reliability is how hard it is to fuck up the ability, not the cooldown.

If you want to complain about Fiddle having a similar ability to an ult on a lower cooldown, compare his E to Brand's ult. Very similar execution, higher AP scaling, although ~200 less base damage, and a way lower cooldown, with a silence instead of a stacking slow.

You're not wrong in your definition of reliability, but he isn't either.

Reliability at high Elo, especially in pro play, is also about your champion being able to do it's job at the needed time. That means having cooldowns up.

For example, Annie's flash-tibbers combo is one of the most reliable engages in the game. When pro games were very slow paced in prior seasons, Annie was a strong pick (especially as support). However with faster pace games, Annie is no longer reliable because her flash isn't off cooldown enough to have the combo up when it's needed.
