If Bard's health pack saves someone from an ignite after they get a kill, he should get an assist

It's happened 3 times in my 35 bard games where someone was saved by my HP packs after an attempt at trading kills in their lane. Would it be too much to add it so Bard get's an assist for the kill the person you saved got.

You don't get an assist in the kill because you did nothing to aid him in the kill. All you did was after the fight was over, keep the enemy from getting the kill. However, you're health pack was completely irrelevant in your ally getting the kill. Whether your health pack was there or not, your ally would have still gotten that same kill.

But in many scenarios with soraka and other healers, whenever a soraka heals (even with ult) she can get an assist just by doing that.

You get assists for assisting before an enemy has died, not after.

Additionally, this would require reworking almost the entire assist code in a completely arbitrary way (Soraka healed you? Better give her 150+ gold just to be safe, she might have saved you. Janna shielded you? Free gold for her!).

I thought heals already gave assists?

Ive experienced something similar, where i ulted and saved a low health ally from an ignite, then they get a kill. No assist? Why rito?
