No one said streaks dont happen. Thats RNG. Whats said is Riots system is designed to avoid, not create streaks.

That said if you go on a lucky winning streak and get your MMR way above your skill level a losing streak is likely to follow, and vice versa.

Is that why I performed better than my teammates during the losses? Because I got "lucky"? That's convenient.

The matchmaking system does not put together teams. It puts together a win and a loss. If you overcome the loss with a win, the system updates your personal rating to make a more accurate win and loss next time. The match is already decided before you play it.
