They are introducing an ad item that gives you a spell shield active. Combine this with a maw and a banshees and then mages can't do anything back to you.

costs 3100 gold new item + Maw + Banshee's costs like 8800 gold takes 1.5 seconds to channel, which is interruptable by any damage has no mini-item with any similar passive like Hexdrinker thinks an assassin will get Banshee's in any situation outside of extreme lategame or an extremely fed ability-dependent enemy carry forgets Maw now builds off Hammer instead of Dirk complains about an item not even released yet - aka, no meaningful sample size or data at all complains about an item on PBE and fully subjectable to tweaks

why would an assassin dip 3 items deep into countering a mage at the most 2 u will be fine

Lugg1 votes

So assassins never drop off at any time in the game.

putting too much money in defensive stats is the same as falling off on an assassin and only to counter the mage in the game seems bad

maw doesn't give lethality (new armor pen stat that scales with level) so its a pretty big turn off buy

Zed never has to worry about that now since he is going to scale like Nasus.

It doesn't stack. You only get the largest bonus.

What part of permanent increase do you not understand? It clearly states that he gets a perm AD increase with each kill from his ult.

That's not what it says, though. It says he gets a permanent AD increase based on the strongest target killed.

oh no

the class meant to counter you is being given the tools to do it

if only you weren't tanky dps burst AoE AND utility, you could do something about it!!!

L0ve Is Blue2 votes

They already have the tool to counter mages wich is called mobility. If you can dodge one spell and get close to them they are fucked. They don't need to be able to prepare a spellshield before jumping on you.

Big Lincoln1 votes

it's a channel; you can't cast abilities while it's channeling, you can only move around

L0ve Is Blue3 votes

channel this before you go in and you win the trade 100%. No counter play at all it's like tibbers flash level of counterplay now its going to be night veil flash and poof you are dead.

''BUT WHY CAN AD CHAMPS HAVE MAW''

u could always play around it and not try to 1v1 assassins

Oh dont worry about it. Mages will always be op cuz ryalis is op. Also Ap gets much better itemization and defense items. Not to mention that zhonyas active is overly strong. I can't believe you are spreading this heresy that "mages are fked" for next season.

I'm not sure I agree. I love my mid mages and I tend to blow someone up in under a second. 1.5 second of channel time is quite a bit especially if they can't do it while being CCed. Only time will tell though.

Requiemsfire2 votes

Can you at least wait till the pre-season is out before making a judgement?

Skip the fact that the shield requires channeling and that maw no longer offers armour penetration.

Lugg2 votes

I was thinking the same thing when I read about that item.

Fool! They can still hit you with their powerful auto attacks!

Chanel for 1.5 seconds then kill a mage with 0 counterplay because they can't CC you off of them properly. Another glorious item design from the man who bought you Protobelt. I'm starting to despise Xypherous's item design, he aims for the stars but just winds up exploding in the atmosphere.

Just when I felt like Mages were in a good spot, I had to look at the upcoming items. Ooooh boy.

Not surprising the same guy that did Protobelt is responsible for this Spellshield bullshit. Can we delete both of them and call it even?
