Lets get rid of turret plate gold and see what it does for the game.
The gold it gives is snowballing games more than skillful play does.
More gold = less skill needed.

You do know that turret plate gold is fairly recent, right? We've tried not having turret plating for like eight years.
Before, you just had to kill your enemy a couple of times to be too far ahead for them to do anything, so you could farm them for kills, then roam to snowball other lanes, forcing everybody into the midgame before they've even built their first item. Turret plates encourage the enemy to stay, because if they leave, they not only miss out on potential gold, but risk you pushing and taking plates to catch up. They ensure that everybody gets at least 14 minutes to farm.
Their purpose is to solidify the laning phase and keep the game from accelerating too quickly, but also give the team that plays better a better chance to win due to the extra gold. If your team collectively gains the 1800 gold and your enemy gets none of theirs, it means you outplayed them repeatedly, enough to enter their territory and take a chunk out of their tower. It gives the better team an extra push so they can close out the game faster. If you're just as skilled as them, then you should be coming out of the laning phase on equal footing.
Turret plating stops snowballing and rewards skilled play. You're just salty.
So you want games where pushing and taking plates is literally never a good choice and that the only correct play would be to roam? Why would anyone bother with taking plates when they offer zero reward and each subsequent one is harder to take than the last? The game would literally devolve into picks that can roam better than the opposition and just snowball through kills.
I'd die a little less and roam to mid/jungle more. I greed for the demolish and turret plating. If it gave no gold, there's no reason to really get turret plating, might as well wait for the turret plating to fall. Just reset after getting the kill so you make it back in lane full health/mana.
Plate gold does to things: It allows heavy roaming to be punished. It gives the winning laner a reason to push waves to the enemy turret rather than freezing and zoning their opponent off of CS an XP.
you have to actively outplay your opponent to get turret plates though. that or punish them for roaming.
therefore you cant actually claim more gold=less skill.
they lead to faster games, but thats independent of skill in them.
No, that will just buff snowball assassins like talon as now they won't be punished for nonstop roaming.
