what would you think if you had a ADC with smite

With the smite update I been wondering if I should start running smite on a few of my champs. Late during season four I would often run smite on my favorite champ Ezreal. People would flame but stopped as soon as I explained.

Smite had the lowest cool down. Ezreal's W dealt no damage to mininons and was squishy enough a 2 second shield or heal wasn't going to save me. Along with a useful farming tool if your getting zoned or hard countered.

Now we have the new Smite item which I would think could be even better on him because of the versatility it adds to almost any champ. You have one which slows, and one which deals damage over time. Best of all you have one that has a AOE on minions which is one thing ezreal lacks early on.

So what would you think if you saw a ADC or Mid laner with smite along with the Jungler.

If I saw an ADC taking smite against me while I was supporting, I'd make sure they suffered. Summoner spells are really, really huge in early trading, and a heal or barrier can absolutely save someone in a bot lane fight. If he takes smite, the first huge problem is that he guarantees that he is weaker at level 1, but that's only the beginning. He also has to invest 750 gold into the smite upgrade, so until he has the full jungle item with the enchantment, he's going to be behind on stats. Then, he also has the problem that he's weaker in an all-in than a champion with a real summoner spell (smite is not as good in a fight as barrier, heal, ignite, exhaust, whatever. Numerically, it won't do as much). It's up more often, but I can gain so much advantage in one fight with my good summoner spells that taking advantage of that lower cooldown becomes very hard.

I've played against 4 AD carries using smite. All lost the lane stupidly hard because they couldn't stop me from bullying them out. I'd consider it a bad idea in virtually any situation.

I'm not going to lie, Ezreal has no wave clear and Smite gives him wave clear.

To a degree it lets him jungle later and automagically gives him baron and dragon control.

It can't be the worst pick but you really don't want a Hunter's Machete when laning...

A mid laner against Zyra or Heimer with smite is a no brainer imho. An ADC with smite... if you're against an Annie or Zyra support, would make sense. It would help with early dragon secures. You're missing a lot of counter play with losing Heal or Ignite. If you're playing EZ you could sub out flash since you can hop. It'd be nice to play test. I'm betting team mates will rage though.

The problem with running smite in lane is that you lose a summoner spell and an item slot to get an item that simply isn't worth it. It makes the most sense in top lane, with Cinderhulk, but even then it's not worth it. As a damage role, having to substitute a heal or an ignite for a spell that is useless unless you invest 750 gold into a stat-less item is not good. The enchantments for ADC are also quite awful. Spending 2250 gold for an item that gives 40 AD, 10 flat Armor Penetration and 10% CDR (which ADCs don't usually utilize well anyway) is a huge waste. For mid laners, the same thing applies. The Magus enchantment gives some decent stats, but it's basically a worse Morellonomicon. For top lane, which has seen some play, but not much success, people have been substituting smite for flash. That's not worth it, at all. If your opponents know what they're doing, they can easily shut you down because you are unable to escape.

If you're smart, you can make it work. But you've got to recognize your disadvantages. Skirmisher's can be VERY useful as an ADC, since the person you smited deals 20% less damage to you while you basic attacks cause a true damage DOT. Also has both cdr and Armor pen, a highly coveted combo. I say it could work in normals, but beyond that you better have a TON of experience with it if you try it in ranked.

I see it as a late-game gambit for non-junglers. You are gambling that you can survive a weak laning phase to gain a nice boost later. I can see it working, but it would probably work best if your team agrees and can help compensate.

My mmr and w/l ratio is so shit this season I probably wouldn't even care. Chances are my team* would still find a way to lose no matter what Summoner Spells he took.

*before you flame, keep in mind that 'my team' still includes me

I defiantly agree that is not the a item for a adc/caster, but I used ezreal because his W can't hurt minions. However if expertly timed you could last this 3 minions at once. Basic one Q another and snipe a cannon.
