just a off question about illaoi

please explain why did they add in a AP ratio i looked in patch notes and found no real reason of adding it. all she gets power from AP is her passive (aka tentacles). beyond that i dont see a reason to add in AP ratios if anything i would add in .30 ap ratio on her Q as well. if her passive adds in a 40% ratio her Q should have one too.

They massively buffed her and its not the ratio that did it, honestly i might have to start banning her if shes consistently picked, the changes im talking about don't read like a buff on paper but heres a good explanation as to why they ARE a buff and a crazy good one at that.

Explanation as to why this is a net power buff for her. https://youtu.be/hHIO5FUsy0k?t=2m29s

well maybe but primarily it changes how test of spirit tentacles work, they slam more often and any in range will swing + spawn more often.

They are attempting to buff her without her going out of control.

Before, people could build pretty much straight armor and mitigate her in addition to dodging her abilities.

the AP ratio gives her two small but good buffs;

  1. She can bypass armor stacking a bit with magic damage.

  2. She can take advantage of hybrid items like gunblade for damage and sustain

As she is now, her build paths are expanded a bit, without her losing out on the items she buys as a core.

thats not how it works actually the ap still scales as physical dmg it's just physical dmg with an AP scaling like Vi's E

not really

i havent tried it yet, but isnt a slow on every tentacle slam and w kindof nasty?

id think it would be because if you vessel an enemy, it would mean that one tentacle slam connecting could lead to more of them chaining into it on a slowed target.

hitting the spirit with a slam should also apply the slow onto the champion.

youre not wasting stats anymore.

20% is mediocre unless you have a strong dot and Illaoi has too many core items to buy first. at the time you would actually consider Rylais getting tanky with resists and utility like randuins is more important

it only being threatening while ult is up is not worth at all, even for its lowish price

makes sense. i only played her once today and didnt dare to que up for another game because of player disconnection issues.

i picked her pretty successfully into a tahm. its actually crazy that there is now a champion who can beat him at lvl 6. shes really freaking strong after those buffs.

consider that it's 36 damage increase on tentacle (with no damage increase on basic attacks), with 300 health, for a 20% slow on any damage. you could use a frozen mallet for the same damage increase on tentacle, with more damage on AA and other abilities, and 700 health, but it only slows when you use your W or AA on the enemy (though it's a 40% slow instead of 20). And the mallet also lasts 50% longer on the slow. The mallet already had it's occasional uses, such as when you landed and E and they tried to charge you, so you popped R then W so they were slowed by 40% and couldn't escape the doubleslap of all the tentacles. Rylai's only real bonus is for people who run and break the vessel chain to curse themselves, while they run to avoid slaps (if they get caught by one, it's harder to avoid more-but most decent players can avoid all of the slaps from a broken vessel)

frozen mallet doesnt work on tentacle slams.

but i believe you guys when youre saying that rylais 20% slow isnt enough to make the item worth on her. it was just a thought i was playing with to add a slow to the tentacle slams to chain them into each other.

The AP ratio IS in her Q. It's in everything. The AP ratio was added to her Slams.

Her Q is a Slam.

Her W causes tentacles to Slam.

Her E causes tentacles to Slam.

Her ult? Slam City.

Pretty much every kind of damage Illaoi does besides auto attacks and the empowered W auto now scales with AP.

so wait it is added? i thought her Q is a ability not part of her passive.

Yep. Her Tentacle Slam was what was changed, and all of her abilities cause Tentacle Slams. Her Q is just a Tentacle Slam that comes from Illaoi.
