season 8 has been good to garen

despite all its faults, i can appreciate that.

the meta is not unfavourable towards him (aka gnar isnt shitting on everyone top lane), he received a few buffs that put him into a decently viable spot, and boneplating (rip) and second wind gave him tools to not automatically get destroyed by ranged top laners, but made these lanes more even and bearable.

he also received the best skin in the game, and got a major portion of the spotlight of an entire event, so theres that.

hes not considered a troll pick anymore, and there are even people appreciating him into masters with the occational challenger play.

hes probably in the best spot hes been in since season 3. with this season coming to an end, i hope the next year is going to go as well.

cant wait for another buff to garen that allows him to go tanky and continue to outtrade and outsustain melees all while having true damage if you manage to do good vs his team xD

that and the fact that his buffs are very justified with how hard he is to play in lane.

i could build a salt mine in this comment and get rich.

fun fact is, that except for level 1, garen gets outtraded and outsustained by most of his lane opponents. his weakest levels are 2 - 4. but his scaling isnt terrible anymore, and he has better options to play safe until he can deal with them.

"salt" is the perfect word used for people with absolutely no clue how to reply like a normal human being.

garen q has the most damage of any point and click skill on a melee i have ever seen in lane.

garen can play as safe as humanly possible and will not be punished vs melees.

his kit is legit made for people with no trading knowledge.

you mess up and still get your hp back all while having multiple safety mechanisms built in place in case you make an oopsie.

everything about playing him is about lane knowledge, knowing your own and enemy cooldown windows.

when garen beats you in lane, hes usually just better at lane mechanics like minion control and trade patterns.

you get auto q'ed by him a bunch of times lvl 1, you didnt space yourself out properly. he outsustains you, you didnt get lifesteal and only take short trades with long enough gaps for him to regen and regain his cooldowns in between.

im not just playing the champion myself, but also played enough against him this season to know how to abuse his low points in lane, and how to abuse his cooldown windows. not a single garen i played against has won lane against me this season.

hes a solid, but fair champion overall.

if you dont like it, maybe you want to get poked under your own turret by Akali instead or watch a 0/5 Irelia 1 v 9 your team as soon as she completes her first item instead. or do you prefer Viktor shitting on you by building gauntlet? thats gotta be fun.
