Why even play shaco when evelynn is just better?

shaco has just been shafted to obscurity for the longest of time and evelynn reminded me that he existed by the sheer fact that she is just better at doing his job. when is their going to be a shaco rework?

  • at lv 1 his q last 1.25 seconds, that's barely enough time to walk out of the bushes and reach the middle of the lane, he has to start maxing q in order to efficiently gank (like rank 3/4 q) which is about lv 4 or 5.

  • evelynn can certainly gank pre 6, it will be harder but she can do it. She'll also has the damage to do something since she doesn't have to max her utility skill and forego her damage

  • shaco w is a fear (0.5 / 0.75 / 1 / 1.25 / 1.5) that will activate after 2 seconds and act like a glorified Heimerdinger turret

  • evelynn allure has a 2.5 second arm time to charm (1 / 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2) or can be activated instantly to slow, charming nets you damage amplification (in addition to her q damage amplification) and it can be applied from stealth, unlike shaco w.

  • shaco e is throw a dagger and slow them for a bit. 8 second cd

  • evelynn e is a gap closer that grants her movement speed for 2 seconds and becomes empowered when she gets her stealth. 8 second cd

  • shaco ult is a clone that will eventually explode (200 / 300 / 400 magic damage (+ 100% AP) cause that make sense for an ad aa reliant champion) and leaves 3 boxes on the ground (i've never actually seen his ult boxes be useful)

  • evelynn ult is a execute (150 / 275 / 400 (+ 75% AP) or 300/550/800 if the target is below 30%) that makes her invulnerable and blinks her backwards. once out of stealth, what is shaco escape plan? stall until q comes back up in 14 seconds (maxed rank btw), eve can return to her stealth after 4 seconds of being out of combat.

they play so similarly and yet evelynn kit synergy is so vastly superior

Because Shaco isn't a waifu. We all know that as long as shaco is decent, the community will cry for him to be nerfed while Ahri is allowed to stay strong across all elo

His Q is a gap closer, yes it only lasts 1.25 seconds, but it covers a distance of 400 range, and another 300+ units for walking meaning he has an effect range of approximately 700 from his Q. The stealth he possesses is also perfect stealth, it isn't camo. Evelynn's damage is rather meh early game compared to shaco's, but she is intended for a late game rather than early game.

Agreed.

Her E i empowered period from demon shade, she doesn't need level 6 stealth. The gap closer also isn't a gap closer. It is melee range.

Eve's kit is designed for late game, it is why she performs superior as the game continues. Shaco is more of an early game champ, hence why he falls off and struggles.

Maybe you just need to practice Shaco more. I have literally no qualms with him early, mid, or late game playing him as a top laner. Good majority of Shaco's capability comes from being able to outsmart your opponents and abuse their lack of respect for your champions capability when used appropriately.

Why even play shaco

As it stands, Shaco is far better than eve, especially after this rework. The rework needs work.

As with any champion the community complains is "too strong," Shaco had his abilities "updated" (i.e. nerfed) to reduce his choice in game play. I used to have all kinds of fun building AP and throwing knives around as a jungler. If my clone died, it took a good chunk of the enemy's health with it. Now Shaco drops three very useless boxes that anyone observant enough can easily avoid (or set off and survive with no damage taken.) Combine that with the change to the way his throwing knife damage scales, and its no wonder why he's hardly played anymore.

Because Shaco doesn't need lvl 6 to properly gank.
