Chat rooms weren't fulfilling the need of bringing people together

So we removed them, and introduced clubs that currently have a 50 player limit and are private.

I made a big post about this yesterday. Basically here is how Riots designer leadership works.

First its a revolving door. Every 1-2 years, people leave and Riot hires new people, which isn't bad except Riot's attitude is to hire kids straight out of school. Which means their qualifications consist of where they went to school, What their GPA was, and what degree they got. Riot does not hire people with actual experience.

On the one hand it is awesome to have the opportunity to work for a company like Riot in a leadership role straight out of school On the other hand, what we end up with is people running this game with really no idea what they are doing. From a technical perspective they are very smart. From virtually every other professional prospective they are extremely green.

Fastfoward to the issues with Riot.

You have really smart technical people. Who can figure out _how _ to do things in a way that works well. What you do not have is a captain at the helm with experience and the knowledge to ask these kids the right questions.

Such as... What problem are you trying to solve? How will this solve the problem? What side effects do you expect?

None of these kind of questions are ever asked. All you have to do is look at virtually every feature release for League.

What we actually have are engineers who say "hey wouldn't clans be awesome?! Yeah Lets make them!"

Riot needs someone at the head of the table who knows what questions to ask these kids. They do not... On the off chance that they actually do. This person should be fired immediately. If this person is Ghostcrawler.... it makes complete sense how these incomplete features are released which serve zero purpose and do not improve the game in anyway.

Clans give more stability though. With open chatrooms, you could have someone pop in just to spam it, purposely trying to ruin the experience of others.

With clans, we control who has access. I joined one off the forums and have already met some great people. I'm waiting for my RL friends and close LoL friends to get online so we can discuss a clan name and have a persistent chatroom to use.

What chip do you have on your shoulder.
