Everyone is complaining about Ekko's kit being 'overloaded'

And I'm just sitting here, wondering why his attack animation is so bad, it makes Karthus feel good.

They are right. It is overloaded. No champ should have that many stupid abilities.

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

You want to tell me with a straight face that Ekko's kit has too many elements, while completely ignoring the rest of League's roster.

Don't even try to tell me that it's all the most recent champions or reworks, either. Kayle and Jax have been around for a long time, and by these really lazy standards, they're overloaded.

SnugglePuggle942 votes

Kayle doesn't have a double dash, blink, 2. 25 second stun or a mega heal on her ult. Neither does Jax. Ekko has way more. So yes, I say with a straight face that he is way overloaded.

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

"Kayle and Jax don't have what Ekko has!"

Ekko doesn't have what Kayle and Jax have. Fuck off until you can come back with a better comparison of their kits.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

I think I compared quite well as I play Kayle, she has a heal and a slow, but nothing like Ekko. Although I never have played Jax but I've seen his play. How mean and rude you are. Reporting.

Wow. Reporting again. You can't deny how many abilities he has in his kit. It's way to much, and a lot of people agree with me.

Wow. Reporting again.

Because it's offensive to use three curse words, but it's totally okay to ignore the actual point of a thread.

You are the one intruding, and then getting upset that I don't want your garbage.

You can't deny how many abilities he has in his kit.

You can't deny how many abilities a lot of champions have in their kits. What makes Ekko so special?

It's way to much, and a lot of people agree with me.

And I know several people who agree with me. People who I actually interact with on a regular basis, often in person. But the fact that our peers agree with us is moot. You haven't given any actual grounds to argue, just a bunch of airy bullshit and "I'm reporting you because curse words."

Hell, Riot doesn't censor the forums anymore. That's not reasonable grounds to report someone.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

I haven't ignored anything, and its perfectly ok to report you for offensive curse words. I am not intruding, the hell I am. Wow. No other champ has a double dash, a blink, 2.25 second stun, a time reversable ult with a heal on it that does AOE damage, a slow, etc. Sure a lot of champions have a good bit of abilities but not overloaded and overpowered like this one. And yes I have made grounds to argue.

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

I haven't ignored anything,

Except that the point of the thread was Ekko's attack animation, not your personal vendetta against his kit.

and its perfectly ok to report you for offensive curse words.

Except, again, I have used them sparsely, and I didn't bypass any censorship filters to do it, so it's well within the rules.

I am not intruding, the hell I am. Wow.

You started on a tangent from the point of the thread. You complain about Ekko's kit load because it has more tools than you can count on one hand. And then you whine when I lose my patience for this garbage that I can find in any other forum thread if I wanted it.

You are contributing nothing to the thread but irritation.

No other champ has a double dash, a blink, 2.25 second stun, a time reversable ult with a heal on it that does AOE damage, a slow, etc.

Several champions have multiple dashes, blinks, soft/hard CC, AoE burst damage, healing...

There isn't a champion that has his specific design, no, but none of these things are actually unique to Ekko. The only unique thing is the combination and application of said abilities.

Sure a lot of champions have a good bit of abilities but not overloaded and overpowered like this one. And yes I have made grounds to argue.

You have not, actually. The only thing you've said is, "Other champions don't have his kit!"

Duh. Ekko's not going to be a copy of another champion's kit, so other champions aren't going to have the same kit design either.

Have you noticed--What am I asking? You're oblivious--that every single variant of an ability is unique in some way? You can compare any two abilities in the game, and they will always have some mechanical, operational difference from each other.

You need something a lot more functional than, "But nobody has this kit combination!" as an argument.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

Why are you even arguing with me? Find something else to use your time. I think in my own mine I have made grounds to argue, and your the one intruding on my post to this thread. So stop being so arrogant and rude.

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

Why are you even arguing with me? Find something else to use your time.

"Go spend the time you decided to spend on the forums doing something else."

I'm arguing with you because, at this moment, I don't have any more interesting discussions, and I have not moved on to doing something else yet.

I think in my own mine I have made grounds to argue, and your the one intruding on my post to this thread. So stop being so arrogant and rude.

In your own mind, you have made a solid argument. In the mind of anyone who knows anything about debate, you have nothing.

If you feel I'm intruding on your discussion--which is totally ass-backwards--why not post your own thread and whine there about Ekko? I'll totally leave it alone. I've already said my piece in the few, rational discussions about Ekko's kit that I could find, and literally the only argument you have is "His kit has a lot of things!" I don't bother with trash threads if I'm not obscenely bored.

I'm arrogant for telling you that your argument holds no water and you add no value to this thread. If you think so, then why do you keep coming back? You don't prove anything by coming back to my thread.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

I only keep coming back cause you keep arguing with me. I have given other reasons besides "his kit has a lot of things." Goodness, I'm done with you. All because I gave my own two cents you wanted to argue and dispute me.

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

All you've said is specifically what Ekko's kit has, and that other champions do not have those same tools.

And yes, I dispute and argue with your statements, because this is my thread.

Your two cents were unwanted, take them with you when you leave.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

It's a free world so I can say when I please. Anyhow, screw you for being a rude prick.

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

So you are free to speak your mind, but I am not. You're just as rude.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

I didn't say you weren't free to speak your mind. Read the comments dude. I'm done with you. Good bye.

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

For someone who's supposedly done, you've said goodbye twice and still haven't left.

LeeSin Nidalee Elise

SnugglePuggle941 votes

I don't recall any of those have what Ekko has. Lee Sin has his dash, Nid has a heal but no stuns or slows, Elise has a jump.

IcyPepper2 votes

I'm only mostly making a joke. Elise is kind of UP at the moment, Lee isn't really that strong (but annoying), and Nid is just plain annoying.

They're all overloaded, or at least one could argue they are. Lee Sin has a maximum of 7 spells to cast (of course he can't use them all) with no cost on his ult, Nid's spears can deal more damage than ultimates and kind of has multiple passives if you include the hunt, and Elise... well, honestly she's kind of balanced over having six abilities on call.

But I'm mostly joking, but I did want to make a point that there are other champions with multiple abilities. Ekko isn't unique, but her's certainly a symptom of a path Riot is going down and as much as I like Ekko's counterplay, I'm getting tired of having to read a paragraph or two in order to understand one ability.

A Blonde Mexican3 votes

double dash, shield, stun, slow, portion health back WITH dash. does a shitton damage.

riot likes super mobile champs that pack a punch. we do not.

JustMyBassCannon3 votes

"We" not including me, apparently, because I have enjoyed playing, both as and against, Ekko.

And if you just list everything in a champion's kit, they're going to sound overpowered.

Range extension, AoE, high-power slow, bonus MS, healing, Armor and MR shred, invulnerability, high hybrid DPS. Kayle sounds OP.

Longest targeted gap closer in the game other than Shen/Teleport, fear, sustain, AD and AS steroids, bonus MS, spell shield, blinds entire enemy team. Nerf Nocturne, based Rito gods.

High hybrid DPS, AoE, %HP damage, CD refreshing, poison trail, free Armor/MR, manaless. Shyvana must be OP.

No, wait, I'm just listing everything their kit has without any context. That doesn't make them OP.

YossarianSensei3 votes

Ekko doesn't have weaknesses because he always has some shyt up his ass.

That's broken game design, regardless of whether or not it's balanced.

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

Ekko doesn't have weaknesses because he always has some shyt up his ass.

I know several very intelligent players who disagree with that. One of them even happens to be either platinum or diamond--I can never remember which one, though--if rank matters at all to you.

All of the people I know who play the game, all of varying ranks, say that Ekko's kit is designed well, but his stats/base damages/scaling are all a bit too high combined.

That doesn't mean he lacks weaknesses, it means that his strengths are performing too well.

Ekko thrives on being able to set up and control the fight. He has powerful zoning tools, but he can't actually deal with a fight happening before he's ready. The most he can do is throw his Q and hope to slow down someone if they jump him; failing that, summoner spells and turrets are his only haven of safety.

Wickedfates1 votes

so... what ya think about his kit though?

JustMyBassCannon5 votes

I've discussed it a few times with other people, and my thoughts come down to this. Ekko is to assassins what Syndra is to mages; a champion that requires a lot of thought and timing to pull off properly, but does way too much if you can pull off a perfect execution.

And that mostly comes down to number problems, rather than having too many tools. His kit counter-balances itself with the delays, cooldowns and reliance on timing, but once someone actually masters the playstyle, he's a monster.

Overall verdict; he's overpowered. His damage, and probably his stun duration, need to come down to more reasonable levels.

Syndra and Ekko are nothing alike. Syndra has CC and damage. Literally nothing else. Almost every other mage has both of those and most also have something else like shields, jumps, speed boosts, heals, % health damage, etc. (Ekko happens to have everything). And her damage really isn't anything exceptional. Especially when you figure her ultimate is single target.

Syndra and Ekko are nothing alike.

Thank you for overlooking what I said.

I did not say "Ekko is like Syndra."

I said, "Ekko is to assassins what Syndra is to mages."

What this means is that they fill a similar niche in their respective roles. They are both high-risk, high-reward, high skill ceiling champions that can be just a little too powerful if someone can maximize their power.

Her ultimate has the highest base damage in the game. It alone trumps the full rotation burst of several mages when maximized. If you want to believe that over 1000 base damage is "nothing exceptional," please go back to your hyperstat games that aren't League of Legends.

This is before accounting for her very strong Q DPS and the utility of her W and E.

To recap; I did not say that Syndra and Ekko have the same or similar kits. I said that they fulfill similar roles in different archetypes.

What this means, in as small words as I can use so as not to hurt your brain, is that they fill a similar niche in their respective roles. They are both high-risk, high-reward, high skill ceiling champions that can be just a little too powerful if someone can maximize their power.

To recap; I did not say that Syndra and Ekko have the same or similar kits. I said that they fulfill similar roles in different archetypes.

I completely understood what you are said. You're simply wrong (and you have terrible reading comprehension.) Syndra is near the bottom of the barrel of mages right now. She is high risk, mediocre reward unless you are obscenely fed and main her. In no way is she too powerful. Her early game is weak. Her late game is weak. Ekko is high risk, obscene reward. His late game is amazing and he has everything in his kit. His kit is far more loaded than any other assassin. Syndra actually has relatively little in her kit compared to other mages. A stun. A slow. Damage. That's all folks.

So no, Syndra is not the Ekko of mages nor is Ekko the Syndra of assassins. Saying they "fulfill similar roles in different archetypes" is completely false.

As far as her ult, yes lets just ignore the fact that the vast majority of her ults will have 5 or less spheres and affects one. single. target. Nearly every other mage has aoe damage at the least.

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

You're still stuck on the idea of trying to actually make a side-by-side comparison of their playstyles and kit tools. Which is not what I was trying to imply.

I am comparing their design, not their tool count. I am comparing how they scale in a game, not how they operate in a fight. I am pointing out that Syndra and Ekko both take micromanagement and mastery to maximize their kits.

If you're still going to freak the hell out because Syndra doesn't have more kit elements than you can count on one hand, then take the equally viable comparison of release Orianna. She, too, is a complex, high-risk, high-reward mage that takes a lot of skill to play well. She, too, has a lot of elements to her kit that give her a lot of power. On her release, she had damage numbers that were insane once players actually learned how to play her well.

Above all, I am not saying their kits have the same number of gimmicks. That was never what I was saying. I am pointing out that they are champions with the same level of practice and technique required in order to use them properly. That is the entire point of the comparison, something that you keep ignoring in favor of saying, "But Ekko has this and this, while [other champ] only has this!"

Red herrings are really damn annoying.

Syndra is bottom of the barrel because of repeated nerfs. So, youre just being a contrarian.

You know exactly what he meant, and the comparison is fair, youre just stupid.

You stated repeatedly that she was terrible and had high risk low reward. That is because she was repeatedly nerfed and it is clear OP is talking about BEFORE she was nerfed. So youre just being purposely obtuse.

No, it is not clear the OP is talking about pre nerfs. He said absolutely nothing about her performance before or after nerfs, and all references to Syndra are in present tense. You're just being a troll.

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

He's being a troll by actually interpreting what I said correctly.

I don't even know how you could function in the real world.

You seem to think you're a real smart ass for someone who plays primarily bot games with a handful of normals. And I'm talking bottom of the barrel bronze 5 performance in those matches.

JustMyBassCannon2 votes

The account is 5 years old. I've been playing since only a few months after the game was considered fully released. I have played approximately 4000 PvP games, with a win rate on the higher side of 50/50. I have not played much Ranked, mostly because I have had poor internet connectivity and I don't want to drag serious players down when I'm not playing on a solid connection. Up until partway through Season 3, I played at least two games a day. They didn't even have a regular Vs AI mode for the majority of the time I've been playing this game. I actually played Dominion games in their place until they normalized Vs AI.

More recently, I haven't had enough free time to devote to just League of Legends. That, and I have literally a thousand other video games to play, all of them just as interesting and fun. I played vs AI more often than not, just to ensure I get Win of the Day IP bonuses, so I can keep up with unlocking champions.

I am a smart-ass. I've micro-analyzed so many things about this damn game, learned so many niche things that don't even matter to most other players. I've gotten to the point where new champion releases do not faze me; I can generally understand how a new champion works better than the people who buy them on day one and race the queue to play them. Which means I can reasonably deal with them when I actually play in a game against them.

But, please, do go on to judge a book by the very limited match history that only recently started tracking more than 10 matches. It doesn't even go beyond Season 4; you couldn't possibly know a damn thing about me, so don't pretend that what garbage you can draw from my match history gives you any sort of understanding. It's imbecilic to believe something so limited would give you any insight.
