Ekko's passive is what is giving me cancer

LegitBacon66··25 votes·3,698 views

He can apply his twice via Q and once during E. He wins almost every trade exceptionally because his full combo with 2 Qs hit and then an E chunks half the hp since his E is empowered, applies on hit affects, and finishs of the 3rd stack of the passive. Then Ekko just runs really damn fast. You can't trade against his passive. Also you get hit by 1 Q you can't just "dodge it" because the Q slow is SO HIGH. Then he just trades, you probably get hit by his passive and its ggwp. If you dodge the Q return the slow is still so he can auto you to death. Please nerf the passive damage or remove the speed burst or slow. What if we made 4 stacks?

The big perk that I hate of Ekko is that he already gives out so much damage with his passive/E sheen/ult, why does his W even need a passive? That's the one thing it needs removing, it's not even necessary at all.

disregardable1 votes

Early farming. His passive proc+Q usually can't kill the minions by themselves until he has his first item. I consider it equivalent to the passive on Fizz's W.

ChaosThief2 votes

It should be more of a struggle considering what his kit is capable of doing. All the W passive does is remove a weakness he should have in the first place.

disregardable4 votes

It's a weakness he already has for being melee. He's extremely susceptible to being poked out of lane as is, he should at least be rewarded for going in and trying to farm.

Most assassins aren't. I don't see execute empowered autos on Kat or Akali and unlike Ekko, they don't have waveclear + poke with a gigantic range.

Kat does have empowered wave clear with her Q...Plus both of those champions are manaless, so they can spam their abilities to clear as much as they want.

Kat's Q is equivalent to Ekko's Q in this scenario. They would be similar if Kat had her Q and also had Zed's passive.

You'd have a good point on being resourceless except Kat and Akali still have horrendous waveclear regardless of their resource bars. Ekko has mage level waveclear with his Q and then has a passive to help him CS on top of that, Akali can get a couple of minions per wave with her Q and Kat isn't much better with hers.

The passive is so that you can easily finish of weakened targets if the rest of your moves are on cooldown. AP assassins usually have something to give their basic attacks extra damage.

ChaoticPinecone1 votes

Some AP assassins do (Diana, Akali, Fizz), some dont (Kat, LB, Ahri). And of the ones that do, only Fizz's is possible on every autoattack.

Narasimha1 votes

Because he's an assassin. His entire job is too damage. As irritating as his W can be, having a slow + shield and a delayed stun doesn't help him do his primary job of killing solo squishes.

Idk, I really dont see why ekko is being so boosted about being op. I have yet not lost a lane to ekko or seen a good ekko at all. If you think your a good ekko plz add me lets 1v1 ^^

As an Assassin, he should be reliant on his Single target Damage, Passive or otherwise. Nerf his Q damage. (which they're doing) Nerfing his Q also does more to slow down his scaling cause that's his primary wave clear.

His passive and Q would be fine except that it's bonkers when combined. So he needs to be balanced around his Q and passives combined damage.

His waveclear is gonna remain the same cause they're reducing it by .05 and increasing it by .05 As if .05% ap is actually a nerf l0l. The bias in Riot is so clear here. Meanwhile any other champ that gets nerfs just gets gutted.

That's not true. They're nerfing the first hit of his Q by 10% AP and leaving the second hit untouched. Initially they had a 5% nerf to both on the PBE but they reverted his second hit to live and took an extra 5% off the first hit.

Uh, a significant number of champions do the damage that Ekko does with a skillshot like Timewinder without the inconvenience of having to close to melee range or blow their mobility skill. Nidalee comes to mind. So does Ahri. Yeah, he can slow you... acknowledge that he can slow you. Don't eat Timewinder with your face. I feel like we're at the point where everyone is so entitled they want their champion to be able to play the same regardless of the contents of their opponent's kits.

ChaoticPinecone2 votes

but how many champions also have an 80% scaling shield, hard CC, soft CC, a heal, and 2 blinks in their kit as well? How many of those previous champions can be built full damage or full tank (and everything in between) and still be useful to their team?

MrButtermancer1 votes

How many of them have SCALING TRUE DAMAGE, a spell vamp passive, a massive spammable movespeed buff, three dashes, and hard CC that forces an opponent to move towards you?

Look, you make this list like it's some kind of argument. The best argument that can be made is probably "Ekko has 50% win rates across the board at every ELO."

Play him. He's complicated as balls, so for the love of League play him to learn the kit. The spotlight's not really enough, you should have a more intuitive, practiced understanding of the CDs and timings. I promise your counterplay will improve. Your team will probably still feed, but that's just League. If it wasn't Ekko they'd be feeding whatever other carry was in the game.

ChaoticPinecone2 votes

Many champions have a suboptimal win rate but are strong. If we take winrates alone, then LB and Kass are trash, right? And Nunu is OP.

Ive played him - he isnt very complicated. You make it sound like his burst takes some ridiculous skill to land. Your main combo is just W-E-Q with a few autos thrown in. Even his more difficult combos arent anything special - W where you are, Zhonyas, Ult.

Youre comparing champions with massive amounts of damage to a champion with massive amounts of damage, utility, and safety.

Vistha Kai2 votes

Pro tip: Don't try to run away from his Q, but walk to the side. Even if you get slowed you can still walk away this way.

LegitBacon662 votes

He can follow your movement and you still get hit

Vistha Kai4 votes

Then you horribly misplayed.

The most reliant way to proc his passive is E then Q. If he opens with mid-long range Q, you are the only one to be blamed.

Don't get me wrong. I highly dislike Ekko, too, but not for the reasons you do.

ChaosThief2 votes

He could have E'd to your face, then immediately followed up with Q, meaning moving to the side is almost pointless.

That only works if he throws a distance Q, and even then you might still get hit.

Vistha Kai3 votes

Ayy, mate. You just said the same thing I did, except using 3 times more words.

Shows how much you bothered to read before downvoting and replying me.

All you guys complaning that Ekko has two passives, but Yasuo has three :P

Ryu the first3 votes

What's the third? Reduced crit dmg?

Trumpet1 votes

shield, crit chance, flow charge bonus when dashing, and shield reset on ulty use.

See three passives, but 2 of which involve the shield.

ChaoticPinecone2 votes

its not about the number of passives. its about the amount of damage those passives do. Nobody really cares that Syndra's passive provides 4 different buffs. Nobody cares that Tristana or Nocturne have 3 passives. Its only when those passives are damaging, and do a lot of damage, do people have problems.

Did anyone really care that Yasuo had a shield? Wasnt most of the complaints about his ridiculous damage?

I have to say that even though hes been nerfed into viability, I STILL despise laning against him as anyone. I main Mordekaiser who's considered a counter to him, but I still cringe when I see one on the other team.

Truly Prideful2 votes

His Q should function like Gnar's. Can only apply one stack per target hit per cast. That would help a little, at least he would have to commit to getting another auto off after jumping to you.

ElJanitorFrank2 votes

I find the second part of his Q extremely easy to dodge.

I still agree, though. He can just auto attack twice, auto + e, etc.

disregardable1 votes

Actually most people, most of the time do manage to dodge it on the way back. That's why I only engage when they're more than 5 steps from turret. You E, Q, and get an auto off so you don't need to rely on return Q dmg.

Played Ekko top against a Riven. It was a terrible lane for me. Just saying Ekko has counters.

Lulu. Any ranged top laner with good harass and relative mobility.

I went 8/0/2 as lulu top (for the first time) vs a riven.

Also Mordekaiser. Just fire E on cooldown and her health regen can't handle it. As long as she doesn't manage to jump you out of the bushes and get her cc chain on you, it's a pretty easy lane.

Davy Crockett1 votes

Chogath I find pretty good success with this guy.

Should have given a different title, OP. The down votes are incoming.

I hate the champion in general. Not fun to play against in the slightest.

Aboylova921 votes

You always run the risk when giving an assassin like him easy wave clear of it becoming an issue. It's the problem people have with Zed, reliable wave clear that allowed him to roam. At least someone like Fizz, as much as I dislike him, has to use his only real escape to wave clear. Something does need to be addressed, as he's a bit strong in a few too many ways.

IcyPepper1 votes

Blegh. Two passives is a bit silly. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if they buffed the damage (keep reading!) on his actual passive if they removed the W passive completely and made it so the third proc had to be an autoattack (E not counted, I mean a regular aa). Ya know, make him work for it a little bit more.

Fuaztin1 votes

Let me ask you something. What are you doing while he's taking the 2 seconds to cast q and dash towards you? Because you make it sound like he's invisible before his passives procs and he starts running the other way.
