Is using Ezreal ult to poke bad?

I sometimes ult my lane opponents if I see an opportunity to do so without the damage being reduced. I feel as if my support is thinking "wow ezreal such a noob" inside whenever I do this. Is it bad necessarily? I mean, it's useful as an execute, but the cooldown is pretty short and I rarely land the ult if my opponent is far away/expecting it.

It's generally not good to blow a long cooldown just for poke, especially as someone like Ezreal with great short cooldown poke options. If you plan on a full engage not long after, there's no problem with it, but just taking a chunk of health and walking away is a bit of a waste.

Basically, it's best used for all-ins or picking off low health enemies, and if you have a clear shot, you may as well commit your full combo.

If you have mana to spare and have some CDR, I guess that's fine. You'd usually be pushing your lane though, which is usually a bad idea during a laning phase.

You'd be losing some global pressure, but it's really hard to use Ezreal ult to land a global execute anyway.
