After the rework, I can potentially see Ahri being a strong pick in the top lane position. That new movement speed buff on her Q makes her top lane matchups significantly better. Like last year's top lane Lulu almost.

Drunk Rummate2 voteslulu was a good top laner because she brought a lot of teamfight utility. ulting carries or whoever is engaging, shielding low hp targets, movespeed buffs and targeted CC.
if you look at other toplaners you will notice similar characteristics and heavy focus on being either a frontline champion or bringing a ton of teamfight utility
EX: Rumble, Azir, Irelia, Gnar, Lissandra
Ahri has none of these. All she can offer her team in a fight is a moderately high cooldown CC (on a straight line, dodgeable skillshot) and some moderate to low damage.
As a split pusher she loses to other split pushers because she's not a great duelist and she doesnt deal much damage to turrets. So you don't have that benefit either.

Sailor Mint1 votesLulu can go 0-7 and still be more useful than her lane opponent. Most top laners can still do their thing on limited items and/or don't mind building tanky.
Ahri isn't very good without items and her midgame power spike is wasted without roaming potential. Her best fallback build is being a Charm + Rylai's CC bot.
SmokingPuffin1 votesSeems pretty hard to make work. Ahri Q is a nice utility effect, but it's no match for a real escape move.
Her solo laning in long lanes isn't bad, but it's considerably more fair than Lulu. Lulu presses EQ and you take tons of damage and get slowed. Reliably landing Ahri Q requires you to outplay the opponent.
