Support item changes

As a support main I really like what has been done with the support role lately and I feel like a lot of other players have as well. With the last patch support as a whole has become more "fun" and "feels like your doing something". I really enjoy these changes, however there are still a few support items that should really be reworked or removed.

Starting with item 3301 this item feels really lack-buster in comparison to item 3303 or item 3302. item 3303 and item 3302 have amazing reward passives now after the rework and they really "feel" like they are doing something. item 3301 just does not cut it.

Technically champions like Soraka Janna Thresh and Rakan should benefit the most from coin but you see Thresh building item 3302 almost every game anyway and now after the reward bonus item 3303 is much better than item 3301 on Soraka . Out of the entire champion pool of supports that leaves Janna and Rakan as the only champions in the game that are forced into a shitty item due to the fact that they have no poke. Technically Janna can poke with her auto attacks but it is risky, Rakan however is shit out of luck.

What if coin was just removed from the game and replaced with an item like this:

25% base mana regen 50% base health regen 2 gold per 10 seconds

Unique passive: Every 5 seconds heal nearby allies for an amount equal to your mana regen Gain 5 gold each time you heal an ally

Quest: Earn 650 gold with this item Reward: Your heals can now overheal giving a shield that decays over 5 seconds

Now for other support items that are lacking

item 3050 ok this item is pretty much useless, however this could easily be fixed. Rather than its current passive change it so that it energizes the user and a linked ally and increases the rate at which the user and an ally are energized at. When the passive from an energized attack is used both champions gain a shield equal to 15 per level.

Easy peasy fix

Probably the worst designed is item 3174 . This item has gone through hell, reworked more than any other item in the game. This item actually works around you daming damage to heal someone else while being an item for a backline support. If reworked this item could potentially be the answer to all of the high shield and healing values that the game currently has.

Instead it could have a passive like: item 3174

Passive Drain: Hitting enemies causes them to take damage equal to your mana regen over 6 seconds. During this time healing and or shielding on this target is reduced by an amount equal to your cooldown reduction. (note this stacks with grievious wounds)

Passive Leech: Dealing damage to an enemy effected by Drain heals for mana regen amount over 6 seconds.

Lastly lets talk about item 2049 . Please just delete this item. It is the main cause that supports feel super boring and the main reason nobody wants to support. Everyone can ward but because of the item 2049 supports are forced into buying it and wasting 800 hard earned gold taking away from their ability to buy an item that "feels" like its doing something.

Overall I really like supporting and I really like the changes lately, however I think some things should be looked at.

wait item 3174 makes it to where you need to get hit to heal them i think you mean it needs you to hit the enemy champs for heals

Your version of Athenes is selfish. That's not good. Utility items should be more about helping the team and not hindering enemies. Also, making the item meld well with Morellonomicon is just handing mages back 40% CDR easily.

The Athens that i designed is actually a support item. Because healing a shielding is getting out of control with items like item 3107 and item 3190. The new Athens reduces healing and shielding on the target but does not effect lifesteal. I should have probably specified better that it meant from allys. My bad. However if you were talking about the damage is deals its actually really low and it still only has 40 ability power.

Math: Alistar has the highest base mana regen in the game at level 18 being 22 If Alistar somehow managed to get 600 Ability power the damage over 6 seconds would be 20% of 600 = 120+22= 142. However if you build support items and happened to have 400% mana regen and 150 AP that would be 88 + 30 = 118 damage

142 would then be reduced by magic resist to be somewhere around 80ish with 32% damage reduction. Its not alot of damage However if an ally stikes the enemy it will heal them as a heal over time

Think of this item as a Brand support item because brand or other mage supports would'nt have any way to heal other than this.
