If you don't build any defenses, you shouldn't really expect people to require damage items to kill you.

one triforce and black cleaver all others are defensive items.

Both give health and chunk half the enemy's.

If Vi is jungling, she usually builds Warrior as well. So Warrior, Trinity Force, and Black Cleaver are three offensive items and cost near 9k gold. In the mid game, that's pretty much a pure damage build and even with 2-3 tanky items, that's still nowhere's near full tank.

Heck, Vi wasn't even the issue in the game which spawned this thread. The fact that their Ahri and Jinx both had 20 or more kills was probably the biggest issue.

No, you go full tank and do tons of DPS based damage simply because you're alive for so long.

Think Dr. Mundo for example. Individual Cleavers don't do much damage, but during an extended fight, Mundo hurts like a bitch simply because his tankiness gives him the time to do that much damage. He's not actually doing a shitton of damage like a full glass cannon champion can, he just looks like he's doing that much damage simply because he's stretching the time out.

Invest is a spell-checker. There are free online ones.

Even if someone builds full tank, their base damage is quite significant against targets without any defenses. 250-300 base damage can be a lot when you have no resistances and about 2000 health.

Sorry, that sort of scenario is often the first to play in my mind reading stuff like that. But seriously though, a little armor early goes a long way towards not dying to burst based damage, and Vi's sustained damage doesn't scale very well until between the mid game and the late game, so if you respond correctly to an enemy team having a Vi, you shouldn't be dying to a Tanky Vi.

Or you could just build a Warden's Mail and be good for the entire mid game, or even a Chain Vest which can become a GA in the late game.

I did say after all "a little armor". Ideally, you won't need to invest into complete tank items, just enough to get past Vi's burst. Is that not a practical application of defense for you?

The entire point of building defense is to survive upfront burst, which is also the major thing that generally will kill squishies very quickly. Because her W will not apply until the third strike, that's still easily a Q-AA-W combo shut down by your smartly invested Warden's Mail, and maybe, just maybe, you have enough surplus health from your resistances that you can properly turn around and fight Vi. Have you not considered that for a second?

She lowers your armor by 20%. a Warden's mail is 45 armor, reduced to 36 AFTER Vi has hit you 3 times. You still have enough armor to survive her burst and lower her sustained damage.
