I hate new meta of true damage. I want play tank or mages, but both in bad situation. Any tank items protect from nothing (item 3036 item 3153 item 3031).

Cant trade health vs any bruiser.

Conqueror must be removed or just true damage part of it.

Z3Sleeper12 votes

Mages in a bad situation eks dee.

Edit: Lel downvotes. We really like to circlejerk on them mages. Wonder why high elo players bother to play mages at all since they're so weak.

Even more downvotes lmfao. Boards you are truly disappointing me right now. Check the facts before you take a side based on personal bias.

Mages are dominating the mid lane. Mages are dominating pro play. Nothing is there to suggest mages are in a bad spot whatsoever statistically.

http://champion.gg/statistics/#?sortBy=general.winPercent&order=descend&roleSort=Middle

Their runes are bad? So what? That only means they have terrible runes and are STILL doing the best in their role and overall well enough to warrant being utilized. Here's a solid fact for you guys: Once mages get real runes you're gonna see a few of em getting nerfs in compensation.

Check recent ADC changes to stats. Even there you have direct nerf to mages.

He said DIRECT nerfs to mages. That would be an indirect nerf.

remakoro2 votes

Yea dude. Indirect direct nerf lol.

Z3Sleeper5 votes

Guess what else the ADC changes mean? ADCs are dealing less damage early and scaling slower. Guess whose scaling is unaffected by their changes and therefore indirectly buffed? Oh yeah, mages along with every other class.

This bias is real.

LordGeovanni1 votes

early 1-5 because after they are compensating themselves in ad and item 3095 has the same bonus on crit that they just took from ie For one crit but on a gaurenteed crit

Z3Sleeper3 votes

160% guaranteed crit only on first attack (with no crit chance) +30% AS =/= 250% crit +30% crit chance (in terms of DPS)

For crit ADCs, the damage is down, that's a fact. Scaling rate is down despite the base stat buffs to soft compensate for the massive scaling nerfs.

LordGeovanni1 votes

Now combine that with that the new ie now gives true damage in addition to crit damage still being crit damage its not like it was cut in half they took 1/5th off of it in theory and added it back in various ways (Storm razor, More ad on IE More ad from adc base ad level 6+) And ignoring that they made them even safer with Hp buffs.

TheGreatNinx3 votes

gotta build i.e for that to be useful and you probably want zeal item before i.e since just having 1 auto deal percent of his damage as true damage isn't worth. So you are still looking at a very delayed while mages should be hiting their power spike on their first or second item before those two items are complete.

LordGeovanni1 votes

You guys justifying it with build order but no matter what it happens

TheGreatNinx1 votes

Yes because that is very important lol. Build order dictates when you are gonna hit different power spikes and since the way the new i.e is set up that you need atleast 1 zeal item to make it effective (even then you want to finish your second zeal item fast as possible So its more reliable) and that pushes what you described above to much later point in the game where everyone else has already hit their power spike and is probably more powerful then you till you get those items complete since goal design was to make crit users the late game carry and spell caster's the early game carry. (unless your talking about Ezeral which has problems how items interact with him and his abilities but then again he's abusing both Tear items, ice born or tri-force if head while getting bork or BT not storm razor or i.e)

his comment is pretty informed given statistics say mages are fun right now and Zoe is the best mid laner.

Velzard of Koz6 votes

According to Midbeast the best midlaners right now are:

TF, Talon, Vladimir, ASol, Irelia, Zoe, LB.

Out of the 7, 5 can be considered Mages If you try hard enough. Only two of them are close enough to be proper Mages and one of them is Battle Mage while the other is Burster. None of them Artillery. And who are they all?

TF has point-click stun into burst and great roam potential. Non-traditional Mage. Vlad is a drain-tanking mage with no Mana. Non-traditional Mage. Zoe is outright cancer design, hit by one spell into burst by just basic combo, more like an Assasin like LB. Not to mentoin her roaming doesn't suck much due to the bubble-wall mechanic. LB is closer to Assasin, she has better burst and mobility and roam. ASol, decent shove without spending too much Mana due to stars, good roaming.

In other words, If you don't have any of these:

  • good shove without spending too much Mana
  • good roaming
  • assasin-level burst
  • CC applied equally braindeadly like Assasin's kit

you are not that great.

Go a little down the list and what do you find there? Drain-tanks, point-click stuns, unhealthy shove, hardly avoidable or telegraphed CC, reliable damage and roam.

If that is the future of what Mage will represent I am cool with that but I am not sure whether it is fun If midlane is contest of who shoves the freest, or who has most braindeadly applied CC/damage or even more frequently, who has the best ability to ignore their lane and visit the others.

Velzard of Koz4 votes

Yes indeed, great to see that according to the graph the best midlaner is Morde with 60% winrate and that Taric is at fourth place. Let's ignore the pickrates.

If taken by their pickrates, it's dominated by Yasuo, not Zoe, and the only real Mages at the top 10 are in amount of 2, with there being 6 champs that can be considered slayers (either skirmisher or assasin).

Zoe might have the closest high PR plus high WR, but then again her BR is lower than that of Yasuo's. Also, while here Zed has fourth highest pickrate with being the first of the four to break 50% winrate, he was only rated B by Midbeast as far as I remember, and even that marked as difficult to play.

The fact how hard it is to judge anything from these is the reason I went with Midbeast's tier list instead. Besides, not sure what was the point of you posting the graph since the graph shows dominance of Assasins in midlane while Midbeast's chart shows more "Mages" in midlane being good.

AirKingNeo4 votes

PRETTY SURE THE LINK I GAVE YOU WAS ON THE TAB FOR PLAYRATE AND NOT WINRATE because winrate is bad stat.

Velzard of Koz3 votes

Winrate is not a bad stat, it's how you use it that determines its "badness". Playrate also cannot be considered well because some people will like to play underpowered champions. As I said up there, Yasuo is top in the list despite being nerfed by the changes.

AirKingNeo4 votes

Except underpowered champions are played less because they win less.

Do you understand how stats work or don't you?

lol

Highest play rate is Ezreal with a 50.7% win rate 2nd highest play rate is Pyke with a 41% win rate 3rd and 4th highest are Lucian and Jhin with 50% win rates Lee Sin is the 2nd most popular jungler with a 48% win rate

Play rate is based on more than champion strength or win rate. Some champions are more fun to play than others. Different statistics are different. Ziggs support has the 3rd lowest play rate with a 53% win rate. Why aren't more people playing Ziggs support? Kennen support has the highest win rate in the game. Why isn't he meta?

AirKingNeo2 votes

having a higher playrate means you have a lower winrate

again I have to ask if you know how statistics work or not?

PhDs Nuts4 votes

{quoted}

So champions that lose more are played less, and playing a champion more makes them still lose more. But the overpowered champions get played more. But overpowered champions have higher win rates. But playing them more makes them lose more, so they should have lower win rates. Makes sense.

I'm saying that by your logic the least played champions should have the lowest win rates. They don't. Do you understand how statistics with a large amount of variables work? Especially when some variables aren't quantifiable? (how fun a champion or playstyle is to play)

The thing you should be talking about is sample size.

LordGeovanni1 votes

The bigger the sample size. The less of the sample size is mains who constantly do well on their champion thus giving a better indicatior of average people on a particualr champion instead of a concentrated group of mains boosting the win rate.

What you described is a Burst mage not an assassin.

Also, Zoe isn't 1 shotting you without her Ulti.

Her ultimate has basic-ability level of CD, hardly can be considered bursting the same way as Lux, Veigar or Syndra or any other burstmage.

Why would you ever defend Zoe? She is flat out abused by high elo players. I have watched one trick mids play Zoe to go up a division in promo's because they know she is stricly better then what they normally play.

She requires players to take sub optimal buys, has a crap ton of damage, and demands the game be played at her pace if the zoe player has half a brain. They need to do something about her kit.

Statistics are read by humans who can be biased as well. For example like when someone uses champion.gg which is outdated and not considered good source.

League of Graphs is prefered and according to that Mordekaiser has highest winrate in mid. This is why statistics can be worse than experienced high elo player presenting his experience.

You haven't provided any info about the list, whether it's pickrate, winrate, what region, what elo. The only person using emotions and getting triggered over online karma AND considering Boards one entity (you cannot get more emotionally biased than that) is you.

So you can play victim and cry like a little baby than you are being downvoted by BOARDS all you want, it only shows you are shitting into your own mouth when asking others to not judge based on feelings.

I judge based on statistical facts and evidence. The downvotes simply make no sense to me as mages are performing best in their role (mid lane) in solo Q while also dominating in pro play.

Maybe you got downvoted because you're claiming the "meta" midlaners by winrate without taking into consideration their PLAY RATE? Morde had a 65% winrate earlier this season. By your logic it was the MORDE META! But no it wasn't...why? 0.2% pick rate maybe?

To put it simply for you, if look at the top PLAYED champions, you'll see assassins, not mages. Claim it's the Sol Meta because he has a 53% winrate, and forgetting he has a 1.29% play rate, while statistically correct, is very bad data analysis and the fact you omitted this detail in your post to Velzard of Koz means you were either completely ignorant of the stats and it's relevance to your statement, or was just trying to use a small portion of data in a misleading way to make your previous statement seem more valid. At best your are an incompetent analyst (it's ok its not for everyone), or worst an egotistical ass (possible but unconfirmed due to lacking DATA xD). Either way, you are wrong.

Z3Sleeper3 votes

How about you actually look at the damn statistics. They show playrate as well and no assassin is largely out-doing mages in the combination of both playrate and winrate statistics.

Zed: 50.18% WR 6.44% PR Ahri: 50.48% WR 4.07% PR

LB: 45.91% WR 5.01% PR Lux: 51.87% WR 3.56% PR

Talon: 50.78% WR 3.19% PR TF: 51.66% WR 3.37% PR

Nothing was omitted other than what your short-sightedness couldn't bother to comprehend. Next time check the source that I even provided for you before deciding to make yourself look like an ass.

http://champion.gg/statistics/#?sortBy=general.winPercent&order=descend&roleSort=Middle&order=descend&roleSort=Middle

Here I'll even give you op.gg too which also shows that both the pick rate and win rate of mages far surpass assassins: http://na.op.gg/champion/statistics

How about you actually look at the damn statistics. They show playrate as well and no assassin is largely out-doing mages in the combination of both playrate and winrate statistics.

Top 6-7 (depending on how you choose to categorize Zoe) champions in the top 10 midlane are assassins. Their combined playrate is between 50% and 60% of all games. That's just those 6-7 assassins. You mentioned nothing regarding the playrate of the champions who you posted as the top 15 champions, nor did you mention their winrate, you just posted a list.

Nothing was omitted other than what your short-sightedness couldn't bother to comprehend. Next time check the source that I even provided for you before deciding to make yourself look like an ass.

As stated above you omitted the statistics entirely, and gave a list based on winrate without mentioning the rediculously low play rates. By comparison, the total play rate of the champions you listed that AREN'T part of the 6-7 previously mentioned is a total of 18.05%. That's all barring Talon and Fizz (so 13 champions). Your list was flawed, you didn't give a full or accurate account regarding you list, and now you're saying that you didn't omit any details? You omitted ALL of the details. You just gave a list and claimed it to be true!

http://champion.gg/statistics/#?sortBy=general.winPercent&order=descend&roleSort=Middle&order=descend&roleSort=Middle

Here I'll even give you op.gg too which also shows that both the pick rate and win rate of mages far surpass assassins: http://na.op.gg/champion/statistics

Now come at me sideways again with your bs, let's hear what you've got this time.

I'm pretty sure I didn't come at you sideways (a term used when someone is trying to be mean without cause), but was simply calling you out on your poor statistical analysis, and pointing out the potential that some could think you omitted the details prominent to your statement to hide the fact that it was flawed.

Your claim was essentially that the meta was NOT midlane assassin when 50-60 percent of games are played by just 6-7 assassins (8.57% average approx) in midlane, while showing a list of 15 "REAL" meta midlane champions of which the 13 that were not in the 6-7 had only a combined play rate of 18 percent (1.3% average).

Do you not see how your argument was flawed?

Data analysis is something I do as part of my job, and can understand fully that this could be an honest mistake. I just don't understand why you would continue to claim it to be accurate when it is so obviously not...

Note: the statistics I've used were drawn from Champion.gg, OP.gg and Lolalytics where possible and averaged when there was a large descrepency. None of these site are entirely accurate but are as close as the playerbase can get.
