The new champion highlights the balance problem Riot has
Preface: I know it was just a highlight video for Zoe and the final product may change significantly, but I think my point will stand regardless
The new champion coming out is going to be cancer to deal with because she has the same thing that causes most champions to be toxic. **Her mobility is given zero consideration for the strength of her kit. ** By this I mean that Riot never seems to consider how incredibly powerful mobility is in the game. Almost every champion that people hate to play against has ridiculous amounts of mobility, and mobility is one of the best ways to outplay opponents.
Add into this that the highest mobility champs in the game are also among the highest damage, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the problem. A perfect example of this is Ekko. By the vary nature of his kit, he is impossible to balance. He has ridiculous mobility, high survivablity, and his damage is way, way to hard for a kit that is as overloaded as his is. You have to balance him on the weak side or else he is broken. A good example of a champion with high mobility that was finally reworked and balanced correctly is LB. She is more of a hit and run champion now that pokes you down and then goes all in to finish you. Once she has done this a couple times, she has now earned the ability (being far enough ahead) to now hard carry the game. But the important thing is that the opponent had the opportunity to prevent this earlier in the game by playing smarter.
On the flip side, look at the immobile mages. They have a ton of damage, but if you avoid or negate their burst, you can kill them pretty easy. That's counterplay. A lot of the high mobility champs don't have this. Another great example of low counterplay is Zed. The ONLY time he was ever balanced was when he had the 1 sec delay on being able to swap shadows. This gave a good opponent the window to counterplay him. Of course all the Zed mains immediately cried like the babies they are and had it reverted after just one patch.
So in summary, Riot, for the love of God, take into consideration the amount of mobility a champion has either lower their damage or their survivablity to compensate for it. Thanks for reading guys.
