Wondering about everyone's take on autofill

Do you think it's good, bad, should there be a longer q without autofill, etc

Horrible,

I don't consider it by itself though. It is a product of champion select.

Players are less encouraged to learn all the lanes because 99% of the time they are playing what they want. So on the odd occasion they are auto filled, they are putting their own team at a disadvantage from sheer lack of familiarity.

The essence of draft pick has been compromised. The idea of counter picks/team composition seems completely abandoned among "casual" players. People used to be wary of first picking a carry lane. Now they will pick in order of what the draft tells them to do. Especially evident in low elo where players do not have all the champions unlocked in order to trade.

Doesn't affect me much, I will fill anyways.

Other than that, I think they should make auto fill protection a bit more clear and uniform. (No more of this "guy dodged and I lost my protection" crap) Do that, and it might be tolerable.

Personally, I think autofill is a huge improvement. I noticed I get my primary pick more often. I noticed a lot of players post who don't like autofill. Mostly, they seem only want to only learn/play one role (maybe even only one champion) and were happy with long queue times. Some think support in particular is a problem.

But I'm not a specialist. I want to play everything and experience the entire game - not just a few roles. I want lower queue times and the flexibility instead of the straightjacket that was season six. I can actually queue with support as my secondary and not feel like I'm going to get stuck in my secondary all the time!

In fact, I would enjoy it even more if RIOT got rid of protection from autofill but gave players the ability to customize all their role priorities (without role exclusion) instead of giving them the limited two role selection feature.

Thumbs up for autofill.

I think it's good. Not perfect, but better than any of the previous iterations.
