Anivia is busted
Like really. 53% win rate for months. Broken instant waveclear with R. Zero counterplay wall.
Can we do something about this champ already?

My favorite part is when you close the gap on her but she can pop her stun instantly, while aurelion sol has to wait to pop it.
Idd. The funny thing is that Anivia is extremely difficult to do anything about, and when you actually get to engage on her, you get instastunned and walled + R. And for those very rare moments you actually do manage to put her down, her passive pops and you have to run.

That's why that champ sucks, it's seriously awkward to have an aoe stun that only activates when it gets far enough from you. Mages who can CC you instantly when you gap-close on them:
Ahri Anivia Annie Brand (I'm still counting brand because EQ is STILL faster than Aurelion's ranged stun) Cassiopeia Diana Elise Fiddlesticks Gragas Heimerdinger (can throw stun on himself point-blank if needed) Janna (instant re-cast if needed) Lissandra Lux Malphite (AP) (ult) Malzahar Morgana Nami (I'm counting it, can bubble on top of herself if needed) Orianna (ult, on herself if needed) Ryze Sona Syndra TF Xerath Ziggs Zilean (if you quickcast and are really good at QWQ, on top of his own head)
I main mages, usually immobile ones, and I'd rather play AP Malphite mid than Aurelion. I never have any problem dodging his silly-ass stun. But anyways, plenty of champs can insta-CC you when you gap close them. You have to gap close them when their CC is down.
The stun isn't the problem, everything is when fighting an Anivia. Sol is a great champ, people just don't play him. Half of those CC abilities are easier to dodge/come out slower, or the fact they're guaranteed changes their kit. The Anivia playing smart isn't going to waste her stun because there is no reason to.
Here's a post from a few months ago that I agree with. https://www.reddit.com/r/AniviaMains/comments/603e6v/is_anivia_op/
_I think the biggest issue with her is that she kind of can't lose lane if you're playing at least reasonably well on her, she is very safe to play as long as you don't do anything silly. The counterpoint to this is that it's also very hard to "win" lane as her in the traditional sense, it's a bit harder for her than most champs to get an early advantage, turn it into a few kills, roam, and snowball the game. But she doesn't have to. She doesn't really need to leave her lane, you will come to her. If you don't, she can shove waves until the heat death of the universe (after a couple of mana items). The reason she has such a high winrate, I feel, is that she doesn't have much counterplay in lane unless they are being aggressive, which they don't need to do. After 6 they can just hold onto their Q-E, stand on the opposite side of your wave, and ult it away, like a gold-making vaccuum cleaner. If you engage, you need to use some kind of blink/dash to get to her, or she will just wall you away, but if you do blink/dash to her, she has a stun/nuke waiting for you, so you need some kind of way to deal with that, too. Personally, I feel she's just a bit too safe, not exactly because of her kit's direct effectiveness, but because there's just no reason to do anything risky (as long as the other lanes play smart when your opponent roams). She wins lane by default. A lot of people feel her biggest strength is her ult being able to just evaporate a wave of minions, but honestly, a lot of midlaners can do that faster, for less mana, and often from further away. Having her wall and stun on relatively short cooldowns is the key to just, well, not dying. Ever. I've won games 2/0 and been 2 entire items ahead of my enemy laner, just because I pushed them out of lane and kept them out. Overall, I think she's balanced compared to most midlaners, but has no reason to do anything unsafe, it's almost impossible to fix without changing her kit entirely, and basically making a different champion. I'm not really sure what riot can do to fix it/give her an incentive to "make plays". _
This thread is really dumb. Instant waveclear on a DoT ability? Go and play Anivia. Not till late game are you instantly clearing waves, if then.
A 0 counterplay wall that:
A) is quite small early on and in most of the map you can just walk around. B): Lets abilities pass through. C): Is useless for damage. D): Can trap herself or allies. E): Has a massive cooldown to play around.
53% winrate does not make a champion broken by default. A 53% winrate for example means nothing if the champion has a .XX% playrate because that means mostly their mains play them.
Anivia main I presume? Anivia probs has the best wavr clear in game. The moment she hits 6 she can instaclear them. Deffo not lategame lmao.

It's not exactly instant clearing them, it still takes about 1-2 seconds but yes she can use her ultimate can with only that clear a wave or 2 but doing so cost her so much mana. Most ultimates in the game cost 100 mana (minus a select few ofc) Anivia's ultimate cost 75 mana just to activate it and then 40/50/60 per second its out. At level 6 it'll take about 2 or so seconds to fully clear a wave so that would cost her 155 mana to clear that wave, which is so much more mana than people like
who can laser clear an entire wave for under 100 mana, or
who can almost kill an entire wave with 1 Q for even less mana.
She pays for her wave clear by using 2x or 3x more mana then other mages to do the same thing, which is why she is forced into buying 2 mana stacking items just to be useful in the mid/late game. Also while Anivia has the best wave clear in the game, that is also only for when she reaches level 6+. Her pre level 6 waveclear is terrible since her Q will not do much to waves until Mid/late game on top of a bad auto attack.
She is not a broken champion, people just need to know how to fight her.
Good buy to your mana if you decide to hold R on every wave so you can use a DoT that will most likely miss some minions.
I'm not an Anivia main. And that shouldn't/wouldn't invalidate my opinion.

As Anivia I get pushed to tower every single time pre-6 by TF, Ahri, Ziggs. Post-6, I can match the clear at the cost of a huge chunk of the mana pool, which is why TP is 100% necessary.
