Vladimir isn't nearly as broken as people said he would become on this patch

I've played Vladimir with the new AP changes and I must say; he isn't that much stronger, when compared than what he already was before. He was only slightly buffed with the changes.

I can't deny that the AP itemization was a buff, but contrary to the popular belief, Vladimir didn't became broken with the changes. He is almost the same as before.

The reason for that is because despite the WotA changes, he still has to get past an weak early game to buy that item. He will probably not have a complete WotA until after the level 9 at very least. And all the changes did for Vlad was allowing him to sustain better against champions that stack magic resistance against Vlad. I am saying that because Vladimir still has his damage reduced by purchasing magic resistance. Also, if anything, the changes were a nerf, because now WotA heal for less, so unless the enemies stack a lot of magic resistance, this was actually a nerf, and even then, Vladimir now needs more AP to be able to heal for significant amounts.

As for other items... Liandry; this item is more expensive than before, and if Vlad uses it, he will probably have to sacrifice something; either the raw power from Rabadon's Deathcap, or the magic resistance from Abyssal/Visage.

Rylai has the same problem as Liandry. Fortunately Zhonya has become cheaper, and Vlad has an easier time rushing it thanks to NLG's lower price.

In short: Vladimir was only slightly buffed with those changes to AP items. He didn't became broken as people expected.

ROFL, you are clueless, Vladimir got nerfed with this patch. item 3152 heals less on minions and during the laning phase. Vlad hardscaled with AP items like item 3157 item 3285 , both of them were nerfed. item 3151 item 3116 aren't as good on Vladimir as they are on other champs that can use them.

Vlad got nerfed, this patch wasn't a buff for him at all.

Actually, if you take into account that Zhonya's price was lowered, then this was a buff for Vlad, since it is one of Vlad's core items, and now he has an easier time rushing this.

Lower price is meaningless, if you farm properly, 300 gold wouldn't make a difference. What does make a difference is 20 AP, especially when you could go back get a needlessly large rod and get 80 AP + HP from his passive and dominate the lane. Vlad got nerfed, he had good scaling with high AP items. not anymore, since rabadon is only 120 AP item left and they nerfed needlessly large rod, gg rip.

LoL, Vlad doesn't even scale that much with raw AP. Only his passive does. But his damaging abilities actually favor magic penetration due to their high base damage but only average scalings.

Yes he does, he scales great with RAW AP.

WotA is still good in for Dueling, and the new Crystal scepter gives him a much more powerful slow. Which is good since he lacks any major form of CC.

And even with the AP nerfs to those 2 items, they level out with the improved Rabadon's.

I think it gives Vlad more utility. Perhaps there's a build for him now that isn't a complete AP build.

I am building Vlad as an AP bruiser with magic penetration: item 3152 item 3001 item 3151 item 3020 item 3065 and the armor item can be either item 3075 (more tankyness) or item 3157 (more damage and a good active)

Of course, if I am on mid lane, I always build full AP Vlad.

Any vlad build that doesn't have Rabadon is an absolute failure.

Do you really think that? I can't deny that Rabadon is a great item for Vlad, but as I explained above, his base damages are so high that Vlad can actually go with a magic penetration build, with more focus on tankyness.

However Rabadon is a must have for heavy AP builds.

Vlad doesn't have high base damage, Vlad should never build tank, you have Zhonya and Pool for defence, that is why you build heavy AP (which gives you HP).

Best Vlad build in this patch: item 3089 item 3157 item 3001 item 3135 item 3152 item 3020 oritem 3158

Semi-Interesting buid this patch: item 3020 item 3151 item 3116 item 3089 item 3135 item 3152

230 base damage on Q 300 base damage on W Minimum of 160, maximum of 320 base damage on E

And that's not even taking into account the damage amplification from his ult, and remember that both Q and E have very low cooldowns

If that isn't high base damage, then I don't know what it is.

Building Vladimir as a full tank will obviously not work due to his lack of CC, but he CAN build as an off-tank with magic penetration and tank items, as I explained above. This build IS viable due to his:

High base damage (this means that he can build magic penetration AP items and still do significant damage) His passive makes building AP items more cost efficient thanks to them giving HP, and vice versa His sustain His natural tankyness He has an damage amplification ult

Thornmail and Spirit Visage is garbage on him, nope.

Spirit Visage increases Vladimir's sustain and has cooldown reduction, Thornmail allows him to better deal with auto-attack reliant AD champions.

It did ruin vlad, he is significantly weaker at all stages of the game, and the new ap items made other AP mages significantly stronger: Swain Malzahar
