Kassadin Plea from a Kassadin Main

Hey guys. Kassadin has been one of my main mid laners since season 3. I'm posting in regards to the buff he received recently. I made several lengthy posts on how he didn't need this and I didn't want this because I didn't want to see another one of my favorite mid laners getting over nerfed because of an unnecessary buff.

Now that he is becoming commonly picked and banned in ranked, I think this is an appropriate time for me to make my plea post. Please do not nerf Kassadin into the ground. Just revert the recent buffs he received. I don't want to see another one of my favorite mid laners die. I remember back when kassadin got super nerfed/reworked and was unplayable for nearly an entire season. Please, Riot, don't make me go through that again.

I would rather spend 1000 games in Platinum 1/ Diamond 5 elo than see my longtime favorite mid laner gutted again.

He got a tiny trim in the patch that's going live tomorrow.

What does "trim" mean to you? Is it a nerf?

EDIT: I saw the other reply and that actually seems like a decent nerf akin to what happened to Cho's Rupture.

It's a slight net nerf, mostly to people who face-smash their keyboard once they have items. His E gained range, but they applied the came thing they did to Annie and Cho cones. I don't think Kass players will be hurt very much by it.

I'm not a great Kass player but I've tested him in high Gold for dozens of games and I'm still not impressed. I think he needed the buffs he got because late game he didn't feel all that useful compared to ranged AoE mages (despite his riskier melee style). Maybe I'm wrong but I really think that Kass is good without being OP (situational too). I still struggle early when I play him and have A LOT OF DIFFICULTY ROAMING!

His waveclear is so bad compared to many roaming champions such as Taliyah, Aurelion Sol or Ahri that if I try to follow or make a play, I'll probably lose more CS and XP than a kill is actually worth. If my team's not doing well, it seems helpless. I can't waveclear fast to roam and if the enemy team just moves Mid, I can't stop them from taking the turret.

With that said, I'll admit that playing Ziggs vs a good Kassadin felt awful once he finished his RoA. He was too tanky for my poke to be meaningful and he could aggressively jump in when I used abilities. Each combo took about 1/3 of my HP so I basically had to play under turret myself. It was very punishing but Ziggs is an unreliable champion anyway and this is probably how the matchup is supposed to be.

BTW: I'm not sure what it means when Riot writes "Force Pulse now determines what it hits at the end of its cast time, rather than the start." Please clarify the impact if you can. I assumed it was super minor.

It means that people can now flash out of E now, instead of the damage following them. The increased range is to make it so it won't feel as bad when people walk out of the E range during the cast, unless they purposefully walk out of it. It's the same change they made to Cho E and Annie W cone casts.

The W is more of a modernization. As is, when you cast W it will damage everything that was in the cast zone when activated, so even if you escaped the zone you would still get damaged by it. Now however people can escape the cast zone while its being casted to avoid the damage from it. To compensate for the dodgability of it now they upped the range slightly.

Update : I just watched Phreak go over the patch notes and even called it a nerf on Kassadin with how it interacts now.
