Is it just me or does executioners culling and mortal reminder do nothing?

So their was a fed yasuo on the enemy team with blood thirster, First I built thorn mail and it did nothing (obviously) and then I built Mortal reminder and honestly it didn't even put a dent in his heal. I feel like grievous wounds are not actually that good;.
