Why mastery is needed in Ranked

Players don't know their champion I'm sure everyone has dealt with this problem before; your teammate whether on good or bad terms decides to pick a champion randomly in your high valued game. Because every match is very valuable to us league of legends players :) This also gives us assurance that they really are a "one-trick" rather than a troll.

Spur of the moment picks, and troll picking Many games are decided through picks and bans, but so is champion mastery. Like I said about assurance of this player picking a champion that you don't see very much. Now instead of someone picking miss fortune support or something weird, they'll have high mastery on that champion and it will seem more viable and PREVENT CHAMP SELECT TILTING

Anti smurphing and fewer new players in RANKED Everyone hates smurphing players, except for the smurph players themselves. cough Apdo This would also indirectly get rid of players making boosting accounts, well, aid against it.

Priority punishments can go to lower mastery players This system won't COMPLETELY fix the troll players, but it will funnel them, refine the game, and overall give us better matchmaking quality.

Keep in mind, the mastery requirements could be as simple as level 3, or is more lenient the higher rank you go, for example;

Bronze Mastery 5 (Lack of mastery + mechanics) Silver Mastery 5 (Slight lack of mastery + mechanics) Gold Mastery 5 (Lacking mastery) Plat Mastery 4 (Every one-tricks goal, slight lack of mechanics) Diamond Mastery 3 (The prime one-trick area usually) Masters Master Unrestricted Challenger Unrestricted

The reason Bronze Silver and Gold are together, is because you still want players to have a high roster of mastered champions - to understand how team composition works in the higher ranks. But if you already know that, have high champion mastery and mechanics, you really shouldn't be stuck down in these 3 ranks, or atleast you're floating in high gold. It's also nice having players actually have a good champ, rather than playing for "fun" when they are at 0LP and have the casual attitude.

And how would this account for autofill? Counter picks? Picking for team mates? All things that would require you to pick champions you may not have mastery on.

Ok sure but why1 votes

But how would League continue to be a toxic community if Ranked wasn't filled with first-time level 30 trolls that make everyone else miserable? We need them in order to keep the more easily irritable people banned!
