You build Hex because you're getting bullied hard af in lane because you're melee against a ranged mage. You don't WANT to buy Hex. You buy Hex to trade your kill pressure for a chance of surviving the endless poke of + . You get a double-longsword worth of offense from a 1300g item. I HATE having to buy Hex. What I WANT to buy is +. It doesn't hard counter mages. It's the only thing you can do to survive as a melee champ in the lane.

How is that not even worse? Completed items are powerspikes. Having to sit on a component for the rest of the game just pushes ALL your powerspikes back.

Heaven forbid anything other than Mages are viable Mid. Hex isn't "OMG OP!!!!". Hex doesnt auto-win lane. Hex doesn't "hard counter mages". Get over it.

Since these forums are run by mage/support mains that auto downvote and upvote anything that remarkably resembles a thread about their waifu role discussions don't really get anywhere.

No one wants to build defensive items. It isnt fun and "slow you down from power spikes". We have to though to survive lane sometimes though.

guess how many mages hate buying item 3010 + item 3191 just because they're laning against an AD who have BS base resistances and 3 health pots.

demanding we land 3 skill shots to their 0 just to break even on the trade.

my fav analogy, zed can cast his Q 90 times in the first 10minutes of the match. guess how many ahri/orianna can (this does factor in mana regen) ((its 13 before going completely oom, and realistically over the full 10minutes its about 33))

so congrats, zed literally gets to spam off CD while we make ourselves defenseless and frail.

Well what about all the mages that are forced to buy item 3191 against these AD mids? Seeker's as a component is so bad when compared to Hex drinker and yes mages who get early Seekers will rush item 3157 but that also makes mages lose out on so much stats they need. While AD mids can sit on Hex because hex is actually a good component and rush those armor pen items after it.

The only thing Seeker's give is AP and Armor and while that is nice, we still miss out on a lot of other important stats for mages like Mana/Regen, Magic Pen, CDR all for just a little bit of AP/Armor. For AD assassins the only stats they really need is basically AD, and Armor Pen/Lethality and maybe CDR. Hex gives you AD and MR while giving you a shield. The only thing you miss out and "sacrifice" for getting Hex would be Lethality but then you could just buy item 3134 right after and be set for laning phase for like 2400g.
