No one thinks edge of the night is out of control?
Hell I've seen it beeing built vs full AD-Teams just for this ridicul ous spell shield.

I heard you like spell shields [slayer-jinx-wink] so I built

I heared you like rightclicking?
Yea, me too
I may not be able to cc them, but who cares if i can just speed you up with tons of shields
AAs, speedbuffs and preventing damage? Count me in!
so hungry...
I hope that isn't supposed to be a team comp.
not the kogmaw, but the rest paired with some fromtline would own the spellshield team pretty hard, lots of damage that doesn't care about spellshields aswell as solid utillity that doesn't care about spellshields.
I see your aa's and raise you

Maybe for an item with such a strong passive, it should not provide so many offensive stats...

Zhonya's has already been gutted from 120 AP/50 Armor 90s active to 70 AP/45 Armor/10% CDR 120s active.
Zhonya's has already been gutted from 120 AP/50 Armor 90s active to 70 AP/45 Armor/10% CDR 120s active.
That was my point... Edge of Night has too many stats for the passive it gives.
Thought you were complaining about Zhonya's.
I wish they would take away the cdr and give zhonyas a bit more ap again
I mean it's kind of neat how they made abyssal and hourglass skermishing items, but as it stands it seems like there is too much cdr in items and not enough high AP items so maybe they should do something like that. I was thinking they we could use a high AP item with some magic pen for AP assassins.
As if AP Assassins and Burst Mages are underperforming.
It not like I want them to buff the current items or make a cheap op item. I feel like there are few items geared towards AP assassins, few items with defensive shred (magic pen, %hp, etc.), and there are so many items with cdr that there is not much of a distinction between a AP build and CDR build (
in particular seem too stat efficient).
But I'm not mage main so I'm probably not the most qualified person to analyze these type of things.
I feel like there are few items geared towards AP assassins
Because AP Assassin items would be taken by Mages and vice versa. They'd mix and match for the best of both worlds.
Morello
It just has too good a build path and needs one part of the Holy Trinity nerfed. (AP/Mana/CDR) -20 AP, reduced Mana restore on passive, -10% CDR, choose one.
removed mana restore passive or -20 % cdr i think -20 ap is fine, but for the other 2 you need to either lose the mana restore passive all together lose the cdr all together. if we go with what you have there then both gimp the mana restore passive so its just there and lose lose 10% cdr both of those so it could stop being an automatic buy and oppressive at the same time.
either needs to get -20 ap or lose 200 health.
ps its not fair that other items that build out of
lost the eternity passive and would be a nice buff for tanks even if they have long as hell cooldowns on most of their abilities they have enough mana costs to make it good and the cap would need to go up for health regained from the item.
-20% CDR would kill the item. Would have to buy Abyssal, Zhonya's, Lucidity Boots, and 10% CDR scaling blues to hit 40%. Losing the Mana restore passive altogether would leave APs with no Mana battery at all.
Mages are not supposed to be able to hit 40% cdr easily with top items they are supposed to either choose to build lots of ap or build lots of cdr or mix it part way. Mages have been having they cooldowns cut for the past two years all over the place most mages no longer have long cooldown spells and melee tanks have longer cooldown spells. mages have one poke spell that has a 4-6 second base cooldown if not less and is mage 3-4 second cooldown with their build. mages are annoying for melee characters who cant afford to dodge and often dont have the ability too them but cant soak up their damage because you cant put more than one defensive item into a magic resist item and magic resist boots when you need 2 more items to be armor and health and the last to items to be ad and health or 1 ap and health and 1 health item. only assassins can really not care about that and thats because they get to sit out of harms way while provideing no value until they can go in rip 3 people apart at the same thing when the mage blows everything to blow up the front line. as it is mages have no down time on their spells even with out cdr they have just enough time to run as they use their last spell then decide which angle they want to run if from for the second rotation in 1.5 seconds with cdr they just never leave the fight and rotate spells off cooldown ripping whole teams apart . Mages and adcs like to feel important but at the expense of melee champions who arent assassins who are always in a more risky place because they have to be so close to be of any use and you either have no engage or your engage is on a long cooldown (unless its lee sin which is really only a fighter in name he plays like an assassin.)
Mages do need access to CDR, but taking the entire 20% off of Morellos does not fix the CDR overabundance, it creates a lack of CDR. Mages should be able to easily itemize CDR if they want to. It's just the CDR is on important items like Zhonya's and Abyssal that makes it so accessible.
The class that relies on their abilities the most should not have the hardest time itemizing for it. It should be a choice between high AP and high CDR, but current itemization mixes them.
then easily itemise cdr .
mages do not rely on their abilites they most tanks and supports do. and because mages do rely on their spells they should have to choose between throwing the spell out less often and it doing more damage and throwing it out more often but it doing less damage upfront they already have low base cooldowns no reason they need to be spamming one spells at people 4 times before they can walk up to them more time if they take the time to dodge and mages usually have all four (at least when some spells have charges and others stay and do more over a period of time and others have lower cooldowns that already low cooldown spells where they have 3-4 second cooldowns before cdr and a low cooldown spell is 6-8 seconds ) of their spells doing damage and often have lots of utility in it too.
Abyssal and Zhonya's shouldn't have CDR in the first place. Nashor's and Lich Bane don't fit on most Mages and Protobelt is pretty limited in its champion pool as well.
Most Mages don't have low CD spells. Ahri's Q and E are static CDs of 7 and 12 respectively. Some have one or two and are usually balanced around it like Cass E, or Ori Q. While some do have some CDs that are too low for what they do like Viktor Q, it's nothing that can't be fixed through individual tweaking.
Abyssal and zhonyas was given cdr because they nerfed the ap because the items had too much offensive power while being defensive also but cdr also helps offensive power they could take away the cdr from those items but then you would say give them more ap which defeats the point of why they were nerfed in the first place. as i have said 7 seconds is low cooldown especially where high damage spells is concerned and 7 and 12 is without cdr for a champion that builds 40% cdr what is the actual cooldown on the spells 4 seconds and 8 seconds (give or take a few miliseconds) ? one in the realm of a spamable spell and the other on a low cooldown with arguably better cc than most supports pulling an enemy out of place a melee support is considered largely broken and unfair for the same type of ability and that ability is a 20 second cooldown spell from level 1 and goes down to 16 seconds still more than arhi's e on a champion that is more situationally useful and doesnt get to build full damage or defense while getting 40% cdr you have to build sheilds and other items with inefficent stats to get 40% cdr. though ill give it to you that arhi's e displaces you a shorter distance but its easier to hit and your whole usefulness doesnt revolve wholly around you hitting it. cass' q is a d.o.t. nuke and her e is poke without a poisioned target and a rapid fire nuke with a poisioned target that also has sustain (health and mana) properties viktors q is far more balanced than cass's kit but mages across the board have too low a cooldown problem they think nothing of hitting a target with burst every 3 seconds but complain when champions with 8-14 second spell rotations jump on them because that how long it takes for the engage to come back up none not accounting for that they have shields and or cc/ mobility in that has cooldowns a fraction of that (as you say arhi has a 7 second cooldown burst spell and a 12 second cc ) but when an assasin has to dive in minions every 8 seconds while drawing minion agro and to do their job and a bruiser has to dive in every 12 what was the cooldown on cammile's e that was constantly complained about from her release 16 seconds -9 seconds at lowest and bruisers cant take half of your hp while staying out of range like mages and marksmen do but they also have to have longer cooldown spells with less damage and utility same with tanks get their defensive items nerfed because games are too long then get their offensive items nerfed because adcs are abuseing them
"gutted" LuL. Second most cancerous item after GA.
Wut, the offensive stats on Hourglass are pretty meh. It only gives 70 AP whereas Luden's gives 100 AP plus the active for only 100g more. I'm not saying hourglass is bad, but it's nowhere near the must buy, 120 AP, 90s CD hourglass from before.

... That's my point... -_- This is a thread about Edge of Night. I'm making the statement that Edge of Night is currently the AD equivalent of old Hourglass before it got nerfed and is much too efficient at the moment.
Well that makes more sense but it is hard for your readers to draw that conclusion from you unclear (and sarcastic) statement. I don't think most people jump to the conclusion that you are talking about old hourglass' parallels to EoN when you simply mention hourglass which is generally taken to mean hourglass in its current state as it still has offensive and defensive stats.
TFW you get corrected incorrectly twice
Edge of Night in its present state is absurd.
ADs already have a gazillion items to counter mechanics as well as magic damage, the spell shield is completely unnecessary.
To be fair APs have a decent amount too
you mean like one. Both have slowing items. (ad better because is on auto attack). yea please. Bruiser running wild because they can stack armor pen and the immobile mages one spell to cc or slow them is cancelled. But if you try to wait it out or killed it they kill you in 2 hits..... totally balanced. I destroyed a mid Yas and Zed with fiddle laning.. then they build this and first lvl of maw. I can't do damage or anything to them unless a team fight after those.
Why can't we have an item that procs a shield that it for casters? Maybe when we can stop babying bruisers and giving them retarded masteries and event more op items we can fix the balance of the game. as of right now. Most mids are forced bot because they get counter by 2 items.

and sort of on

Albeit AP probably has less, but they do have some options
oh and APs also get just as many uses from masteries. Its kind of how they were made.
how is a MR items good against AD. None of those have AC but one.... The AD have MR plus an effect to help against AP. You just linked "General" hp gear. And those items aren't AP only. I have seen Non-AP champs buy hourglass. Heck AP casters are buying the AD sword with MR to click out of things. PLease tell me you don't think and MR AP 10% damage item is = to edge of night when I'm against and Yas or Riven.
Look at the cost of the items too. When it can get one piece maybe built but then I have no damage or resist. And they have AD, resist, and click effect / proc. This is why we can't have balance you honestly think the items are remotely equal.
140 MR. tell me what did the have to give up..... I see life stealing, click out of a spell, immune to spell, and a shield just encase you get hit by a spell.
vs
immune but you cant move til its over...... yep Balanced I know its just the skill of AD's not the items.
Not general hp gear, counter gear. Slows, dashes, Shields, etc is counter gear. And i wasnt talking about countering AD champs, I was saying AP items with counterability.
I also never said that they had as much or as useful (although zhonyas and seraphs are REALLY good) options. Just that they had some.
the seraphs also have to be charged to full to get the shield. Late game yea is good. But lanning phase the tear will put you damage at a gimp for a bit.
early laning phase its
1300 vs
1200(this will really hurt the caster mana wise and cause more backs). once that happens then that would cancel out my red runes, shoes, and mask if I went AP. And proc a shield if I get him low. Now understand a mage might only have 3/4 ways of damage.(spells) all while a AD has the spells plus melee damage. Once they get a little Life steal they can heal while you can't.
They need to bring one more AP item (like black cleaver) and Spell vamp to a few defensive items.
I agree, mages probably could use more safety items MAYBE. because a lot of those items remember are so that the talons and such can stand up to xeraths range. One thing people forget is most mages have BUILT IN defenses because of this (now the real issue is when ranged ADs take advantage of those items) but my point still stands.
However an ACTUAL armor item for mages would be nice.
triple spell shield noc or sivir
hahaha
Doesn't malz count also?
pst, kid...
wanna buy a teamcomp?:

Add a

i called it back on pbe when it had a 30 second cooldown. there was a reason they made it increased it to 45... i guess they forgot that reason...

Heck even 45 is too low. 45s cd for a 10s spellshield is still very good. Now it's just absurd
I was pretty surprised when they reduced the CD on it. If you decide not to go in after you active it you only have to wait 20 seconds before you have it ready again. Considering the fact that it can break a mage's combo you should probably be punished more if you waste the shield.
Double the active cooldown but reduce it if the shield gets popped?
It's funny because assassins, the champions the item was intended for, aren't even benefitting the most. The item was already strong with 45s CD but 30s is ridiculous...
I actually do find it very disturbing. As Originally it was 30 seconds, but was increased to 45 because of how easily it could be abused. Now with lethality buffs it got a double buff. It might actually get people to buy
so it will only have a 24 second cooldown. I don't hate on it, I just think its such good item that it's not an item you should pass up if you have the ability to choose When you want to go in. Nocturne Wukong Hecarim etc. Unless you have multiple abilities/ damage procs. Rip Teemo Your kinda screwed.
malz support build:

dont need boots with ooc movespeed, runes and masteries
I don't see anyone that isn't Lee Sin spend 1600 gold just for 6 less seconds cooldown on a spellshield.
Hell I've seen it beeing built
