I think it’s unfair that only the adc can solo carry a game
Recently there’s been a lot of talk regarding how one player can win a game on his own but can definitely lose one. Based on my observations, one player definitely can carry by himself, but only if he is the adc.
Since season 6 or so, it’s become increasingly difficult to pull off actual 1v5s, but it is possible for one member to deal the grand majority of the damage while the other four are either meat shields or utility bots. However, it is extremely hard for the one damage role to be anything besides the adc, especially in higher elos. Just look at esports and how many teamcomps nowadays are caitlyn/jinx/varus and four tanks/supports/utility roles. Just look at any region and much more often that not this is case. The one game I can remember otherwise is the h2k vs vitality game where Kassadin was the main carry (and it ended pretty badly).
I honestly feel this is both unfair and unhealthy for the game. Adcs are simply too reliable with targeted autoattacks, and now get their highly cost-efficient items much quicker. Despite this, they are still the most powerful late game champions in the game.
I believe that one player should be able to provide the main dps, but it shouldn’t be limited to adcs. Ap mages (especially battlemages) should scale as well as, if not better than, adcs late game and be capable of solo carrying. Teamcomps where a bruiser is the main carry late game should absolutely be viable. This would not only allow for increased game diversity and strategies, but finally let go of the phrase “better botlane wins”.
Right now I feel like it’s really unfair that only adcs can solo carry mid-late game. Allowing ap champions or bruisers to do the same would give impact to all players and make the game more enjoyable overall. Not every tank or support should be able to out dps adcs but mages, scaling bruises or even scaling assassins like Kassadin should be equally viable in solo carrying.
