A Question for Rammus Mains: What Should Rammus Be?

To me, Rammus is gonna eventually need some changes due to his play style slowly being outclassed or outdone by some other champions. So, I have a question for Rammus mains out there. Should Rammus be a defensive giant or powerballing initiator? When I say giant, I mean literally. I think if have Rammus becomes a huge defensive powerhouse, it would be fitting change to make him a really big and add huge defenses to him to represent his new found tankiness and beefiness. By powerball initator, I mean more like his current way of Powerball into the enemy team and then wreck havoc.

I'm probably going to play him as the tanky frontline, taking Bone of Stone as my Keystone Bond of Stone: +4% Damage Reduction. While near an ally this bonus is doubled and 8% of the damage they would take from champions is dealt to you instead (cannot reduce you below 15% Health).

Rammus is a bit of an odd case, he functions well as a traditional tank because of how much damage he deals that goes unnoticed, at rank one, his full ult will deal over 500 damage, but he is super tank, so you can't focus him and you can not focus him, the main reason there are champs designed to outclass Rammus is because of how incredibly powerful he is in all parts of what a tank needs: strong ganks, initiations, CC, aoe, and defensive power that would make him a top teir pick if it weren't for his bad jungle clears.

Despite all this, Rammus still functions as a punishing counter pick to full AD teams, and his ability to force people to fight him is great for punishing an enemy that he finds alone, because they can't kite while taunted, and take a massive amount of return damage

Powerball is an iconic ability and everything, but I think his armor scaling is the most iconic part of his kit. Both thematically and play pattern-wise, Rammus belongs up in a high AD champion's grill lumbering towards them and mumbling "OK" while they melt their own face.

I don't get what people mean by slow clear times. I clear 3 camps and I'm at my first gang by 3:05. Another thing about rammus is he is fine the way he is. He is a very underrated top laner.

Build thornmail and gunblade, heal off adc attacking you.

build pure tank, then taunt the adc after you roll in. Also rush thornmail after you finish cinderhulk. Your build should also be mostly armor, unless they have a lot of ap of course
