Is there any reason why cleanse and mikaels don't remove suppression?

I honestly don't see any reasons why WW and Malz ult shouldn't be able to be cleansed through cleanse(long cd summoner spell)/mikaels(long cooldown item active). If ashe varus lissandra ult can be cleansed malz and ww ult should too.

Because you can't use summoner spells while youre suppressed.

Then just get rid of suppressions altogether since that's the only thing that differentiates them from stuns

They don't want a free summoner spell to completely counter a champion. WW and Malz ability to lock someone down with their ults (while also being locked down themselves) is a very big part of their kit. The difference between their suppression and any ult that stuns (sona, lissandra, ashe, varus, etc) is they're also unable to make other actions for the duration of it. Why mikaels doesn't work, I don't really know. And before someone says it, no, exhaust isn't the same level of countering as cleanse.

That is because malz and warwick are CCing themselves in order to lock the enemy down.

But hey if you want suppress to be removed, riot will compensate malzahar and warwick by making them able to move while youre stunned. Bet it would be so balanced that the boards will be foaming from the mouth like volcanoes.

Well Thresh cc himself when he hook, Rammus stun himself when he hit someone with powerball.

It's because when it was this way you almost always took cleanse against malz and really any champion whose ult it negated. It was rather brainless and there was nothing they could ever do about it so riot changed cleanse. As for the mikhaels change im pretty sure riot sat down and said that it should not stop suppression because you essentially have one person who would be able to negate you for all 5 members of the team which is a little much.

Because there would be no trade-offs in itemization (arguably the most significant trade-offs you'll make) for the carries if they can invalidate these powerful tools, or if someone else can for them.

The problem is that Riot went full-retard and made QSS build into a strong offensive AD item.
