There are actually very few champions in which Zhonya's actually helps and not screw over. Hourglass tends to screw most mages instead of helping them, the only ones it really helps are Fizz Leblanc Kennen Lissandra Akali and that is pretty much it, not many mages are saved by it, but more screwed over. So calm down.

I see it screw over Heimerdinger a lot, it may be that they were just bad, i dunno. As for Morgana it can help her but it also kind of screws her since you can walk out of her ult pretty easily if she Zhonyas while casting

zhonyas allow you to snowball very hard giving an huge ap, despite it is an defensive item. It allows mistake that would be punished for all other champs
