Lightning Blade [New Item Concept]

Stacona··4 votes·948 views

The item I will introduce will be an attack damage version of Statikk Shiv, passives will be named so they cannot stack. The reason for this is besides for customization and more build diversity, is create better viability for Hurricane because Statikk Shiv's lightning passive is really good with Hurricane's passive but the problem is that you get a lot of attack speed and no damage (and low crit chance). So the item will be created with Hurricane synergy in mind (kind of like how Infinity Edge has Statikk Shiv / Phantom Dancer in mind).

Lightning Blade: Recipe: B.F Sword (1550g) + Pickaxe (875g) + Avarice Blade (800g) + 275g = 3500g

Statistics: +80 Attack Damage +10% Critical Strike Chance +UNIQUE Passive - Statikk: Moving and attacking gains static charges, at 100 static charges consume the charges to deal 100 magic damage up to 4 targets on your next basic attack. This magic damage may critically strike. +UNIQUE Passive: Gain +1% bonus Critical Strike Chance per +5% Attack Speed.

First thing is that the first passive is the same as Statikk Shiv's passive, and they cannot stack obviously. Some number crunching her is that 70% attack speed is Hurricane's attack speed (highest attack speed item in the game), the second passive will give 14% crit chance with a hurricane. Your champion's attack speed per level will give 3% to 14% crit chance based on your champion and level (I believe only Ashe and Caitlyn get 4% attack speed per level so they are the only ones that get 14% crit with this item at level 18). Lightning Blade is more of an item that it's strength is good early on when you complete it, but its power is really strong as you level up and getting items to have synergy with the item and the passives. This is very much like Deathcap and Infinity Edge that needs other items and stats to get more powerful opening up more diversity of what players want to do to get stronger suppose to always going to Infinity Edge as the superior marksman item there are just more options here that you can choose from; plus this buffs Hurricane without directly doing anything to the item (its not like you have to have Lightning Blade and Hurricane together, you can do whatever you want, this is solely to add more options to the game).

Enjoy the idea and have a nice day! ~ Stacona

They just effectively nerfed shiv with the ie/pd changes, do we really need another reason to not buy it now?

Stacona1 votes

they didnt nerf statikk shiv, they nerfed infinity edge --- besides statikk shiv would give different stats and is a lot cheaper so it would synergize with other strategies and builds --- Lightning Blade would be in place for different builds and strategies that would not exist otherwise to be in place- but you still need your attack speed and crit for certain builds so statiik shiv is better there - Lightning Blade would be for if you are going an attack speed heavy build and need the AD like building Hurricane

if anything the item is to be intertwined between getting Lightning Blade or Infinity Edge as your majour damage item

Tin Tarantino1 votes

basically this would be the sustained damage option while shiv would be for burst

Stacona1 votes

Reverse that, Lightning Blade will be burst because it has AD and no AS - shiv has AS (and cheaper) so it can proc more because more attacks and movement speed- Lightning Blade is similar to Infinity Edge (and Deathcap, but that is a different role and class type) where you need certain items to get the item more powerful and ends up being an investment item (plus levels powers up the item too)

Tin Tarantino1 votes

lightening blade would work better than Shiv in a sustained damage build, the secondary passive is very gold efficient with higher attack speed, it would more likely replace BT or Botrk in a final build being paired with IE, PD, LW, Zerkers and a defensive item, shiv gives less AS/crit than PD but has the active and more move speed, making it better for burst builds. this item you're suggesting would probably work better without the shiv passive really.

Stacona1 votes

The items by themselves will be sustain for shiv and burst for lightning blade--- it would be smarter to build an entirely new set of items around lightning blade, sure you can go infinity edge still but that is a really expensive build- smarter to do ie, shiv, lw --- sure lightning blade could go lightning, pd, lw --- the IE path would be BT, while lightning path will be blade because you get 8% more crit then --- so i guess including the item shiv and lightning would go with then yea shiv will be the burst path and lightning the sustain path - but items as stand alone items shiv is sustain and lightning is burst which is why the paths are opposite to what the items naturally do but complimenting the items with the stats that you dont have and best hit the item's passives--- of course Lightning Blade, Hurricane, and Last Whisper into Blade (good with hurricane and more crit with lightning) or BT (or essence reaver if you want a cheaper alternative to BT and want the cdr) is a really good combo too

point being, there are options here --- and if you want to go zero defense and high damage you can go lightning, pd, lw, infinity edge --- this build may be better on a healthier side of things because there is no lifesteal- but no lifesteal on a marksman is risky, so this is a high risk- high reward build doing this (infinity edge is last because it relies on at least one crit item before it can get going, lightning blade is more damage than IE earlier even with low chances for the passive to crit)

Tin Tarantino1 votes

in this build lightening blade would be replacing the sustain option, only in specific circumstances and while ahead, because the extra crit based on attack speed gives quite a bit to a sustained DPS build.

I said "effectively." IE is core on every ADC. PD and Shiv compete for the same item slot, but it is also core to have one of them. If IE gets nerfed and only PD is compensated for that nerf, then shiv has effectively been nerfed, since you have to view them as a pair, IE+shiv and IE+PD.

Anyway, if you're in a game where you don't need a defensive item... ie+pd+lighting blade+lw+bt+greaves. No one would pick this over a first IE, since the +50% AD on crits is too important, and it doesn't provide anywhere near the same power spike. It would take the place of a defensive item in a full offense build.

If you want runaans to be a good item, you need to look at the item itself first. It offers AS and two weak bolts that hit secondary targets, applying on-hit effects but do not crit. Runaans would be a good item if it simply gave some additional MS, say, 10% like zephyr, turning it into a viable boot replacement.

Problem with nerfing IE is that you can easily turn to other items until they eventually undo the nerf - Essence Reaver and Shiv are very good atm (then last whisper) - people are very slow to adapt to new items like it took people literally over 2 years to start buying statikk shiv, while essence reaver is actually strong item early because it grant 80 attack damage and cdr (cdr more spells) while costing only 3200, the bonuses being it is your lifesteal item as well and bonus infinite mana sustain (lifesteal does not take effect until you built damage which is why it is usually a 4th item) late game you can sell essense reaver for BT if you want to and dont need the CDR that much--- getting items that are 300 gold than their alternatives are very strong, plus one of those items builds from a GP10

3800g, 2800g, 3500g, 2300g(required, but needs to be 3rd item) , 3500g, boots/zephyr ---- yes as a 6 item glass cannon build this will deal very incredible damage- as a realistic build you would go something like Lightning Blade, hurricane/PD/blade(expensive)/ghostblade, last whisper-- then a lifesteal item, if you went blade then you would go infinity edge cause you have your lifesteal already--- the majour flaw with ghostblade second item is that you only have attack speed from runes, masteries, levels, and grieves and ghostblade active

Zephyr late game is always replaces boots

infinity edge is even weaker than lightning blade as a stand alone item, plus 300g, with a complimentary item IE gets stronger, but lightning blade still get stronger with a complimentary item as well--- efficiency would be IE and Shiv going that route- the item is not to replace IE but allow for alternatives

NOTE: PD and IE did not get buffed it is a net neutral, shiv and ie is still better for cheaper and statikk passive

NOTE: PD and IE did not get buffed it is a net neutral, shiv and ie is still better for cheaper and statikk passive

...wasn't I just saying that shiv effectively got nerfed?

Problem with nerfing IE is that you can easily turn to other items until they eventually undo the nerf - Essence Reaver and Shiv are very good atm (then last whisper)

Uh, no you can't. Reaver is a worse BT on most ADCs, and shiv's main draw is its waveclear, not its single-target damage. You're seriously underestimating the value of IE's passive here. A loss in 5% crit is not going to cause people to suddenly stop building IE, but it is going to make them reconsider if they really need shiv. Claims like these make for a serious blow to your credibility.

IE is still great even after the nerf. Even without any other crit items, its 20% crit + unique passive used to be +37.5% average damage before the nerf, and is "only" +30% now. That further scales the more crit you have, with IE+PD's 55% crit being +82.5% average damage verses IE+shiv's 40% crit being +60% average damage. Unless they thoroughly gut IE, it will always be core on an ADC, simply because its passive is a big part of what lets ADCs hyperscale.

PD is now better than shiv by virtue of the vastly greater crit rate (and slightly greater AS). Even before this patch, PD was already higher single target DPS, while shiv was better for waveclear. This adjustment now sits PD firmly as the better DPS item, and only champs that really need the waveclear should be taking shiv now. You can already see pro players making this transition.

Shiv has AoE advantage and single target damage because of the passive, Essence Reaver is better than BT for the majourity of the game until you reach the point where you try to sell items for better ones- but the infinite mana, cdr, and 300g cheaper makes ER far superior for most of the game- BT's passive doesn't even exist early on and lifesteal is a near useless stat early because you need damage to back it up so BT is 3500g for 80ad, ER is 3200g for 80ad, 10% cdr, and the bonus infinite mana

shiv is still better than pd- i shall not not betray my yellow shiv -- btw most pro players are actually straight up idiots when it comes to builds, it took them over 2 years to discover that statikk shiv even existed in the game, they also said leblanc was trash tier, and 4 years to discover ghostblade

Leaf of the lake1 votes

{quoted}> Shiv has AoE advantage

Yes, we've been over this. The reason to pick it now is for the waveclear and/or because you need a budget item. Or if you're kalista.

and single target damage because of the passive

Even factoring in its passive, its single target DPS was less than PD before the changes. The gap just got wider with this patch.

Essence Reaver is better than BT for the majourity of the game until you reach the point where you try to sell items for better ones- but the infinite mana, cdr, and 300g cheaper makes ER far superior for most of the game- BT's passive doesn't even exist early on and lifesteal is a near useless stat early because you need damage to back it up so BT is 3500g for 80ad, ER is 3200g for 80ad, 10% cdr, and the bonus infinite mana

And here is where you're just wrong. A vamp scepter is very useful in lane if you need the sustain, although it's rare to finish BT until either a third or fourth item. By that point in the game, the extra lifesteal and shield from BT is very very worthwhile. Even supposing you were to say "screw the meta" and rush either BT or reaver in lane, BT would be superior, since the overheal shield will be constantly up in lane. The only exception where reaver might be better would be for very mana hungry ADCs, which are pretty rare.

shiv is still better than pd- i shall not not betray my yellow shiv --

"This is better because I say so." K. You do that. Meanwhile, I'll be going PD and outdueling everyone that keeps sticking with shiv because they haven't thought about the trade-offs they're making. You can't just mindlessly take shiv anymore and expect it to always be the best answer; there are some champs and some games where one or the other might be more preferable. Does your team have satisfactory waveclear without you taking shiv? Do you lack spammable mobility? If you answered yes to these questions, you really don't have a good reason to be buying shiv anymore.

btw most pro players are actually straight up idiots when it comes to builds, it took them over 2 years to discover that statikk shiv even existed in the game, they also said leblanc was trash tier, and 4 years to discover ghostblade

I don't even know what to say to this. So does everyone suck at building except you? Because that's the sort of vibe I'm getting from this comment. Even if players (not just pros) are slow to pick up on new items, it's pretty easy to see the difference on two items that have both been used for a while. Why don't you try building PD in a game some time, since you seem to have forgotten what it's like to have 55% crit rate.

DoFr1 votes

this is so beautiful, i actually approve this.

it's stuff like this that makes the game enjoyable. but, you need to keep into accounting people who buy berseker's greaves, and instead of having a hurrican, they might just compeltly ignore it and buy PD, and then into ghost blade and abuese the passive to get to 100% crit chance with still enough slots to get last whisper.

not saying it's bad, i really like it, but it'd be a little unbalanced and would create a whole new meta, other than actually used as intended. just think Botrk on vayne and twitch compined with this item (or even worse, yas with this item and a PD)

hurrican simply lacks a bit of stats, this is why it's seeing a little to no play.

i'm really sorry pal, i like your idea, i really do. but the problem is in the hurrican item itself, it just lacks stats and it's passive doesn't make up for that.

Tin Tarantino1 votes

This might be a bit hard to balance on Kalista and also on champions that get a lot of attack speed, Olaf could be pretty strong with this item. Aside from that an item that increases item efficiency like this could be crazy on any ADC.

Stacona1 votes

the biggest attack speed boost is 130% which these champions have very low attack speed per level, meaning for a limited duration the BIG attack speed buffs on champions give just shy of 30% crit from the passive which includes the attack speed per level at 18--- i am fine with the item synergizing with certain champions and abilities and items, that is the strength of certain items- certain champions "exploit" items better than others--- btw Hurricane has insane synergy with Jinx and Kalista - on Jinx the hurricane bolts are AoE'd during fishbones

Tin Tarantino1 votes

I usually do build hurricane on Kalista, since it can offer some good trading in lane and works well with both passive and E, with Jinx I usually just stick to PD since the rocket splash damage can crit.

Stacona1 votes

Lightning Blade was kept in mind to help the hurricane jinx build out- kalista would probably do lightning and hurricane too --- you may see twitch do hurricane lightning because of his passive and expunge (helps his ult too for more AoE)-- graves with lightning hurricane be good because he does have an attack speed steroid for the crit passive and his e's cooldown goes down per basic and hurricane bolt which mobility of quickdraw also helps the statikk passive--- viable on ashe because of aoe slow from frost shot, plus her base attack speed per level helps boost the crit passive of lightning-- kog and varus are both viable becuase of their W's being AoE % magic damage---- a lot of champions can arise with Lightning Blade and Hurricane build combo which is not very viable now because shiv and hurricane are both attack speed items

Tin Tarantino1 votes

With Ashe though the mana cost for Q is on hit, so hurricane can burn through your mana pool pretty quickly

Stacona1 votes

mana cost is per attack, it not on-hit

Stacona1 votes

I did count in berserker, it gives 5% crit - on average @18 you get 10% crit from champion attack speed (varies depending on champion), pjantom dancer gives a perfect bonus 10% crit from the passive- the item is super gold inefficient, even less efficient than IE (yea, infinity edge is stat inefficient, the power holds in the crit damage passive, and even before it gets nerfed it was stat inefficient) Lightning Blade technically deserves to have 20% or 25% crit, 80 Ad, and shiv passive - but I am really valuing the crit passive to give it very high value since the passive makes items that normally don't give crit, like hurricane and blade, give crit (as well as more crit on normal AS/crit items)

something to note is that you will reach cap attack speed before getting 100% crit from the conversion passive- but i have been thinking about item builds with this and it may need 15% crit on the item itself rather than 10% - but this item is really easy to balance unlike infinity edge or BT

phantom dancer sucks on yasuo though- but he would get 110% crit from lightning blade and PD, yes- but this item, blade, ie or shiv blade ie be better for him

--- the thing about hurricane is that it synergizes with shiv which is also an attack speed item and crit directly on hurricane doesn't make sense but the crit is needed for the role- so Lightning Blade grants hurricane the Statikk passive that it needs, the AD that you need with hurricane, and uses the item's attack speed to get crit chance to create perfect synergy --- while Lightning Blade in general will just create options and customization for alternative builds--- more than anything else i like creating more options in the items instead of defaulting to IE and some cases trinity

Ale non è male1 votes

So OP that is a clear no

2nd highest AD damage item on pure raw stats The strongest passive among AS items that allow you to get an AS item with stronger raw stats than Statik Passive that stacks upon stacking another stat that is going to be widely build

Imagine going with IE, Lightining Blade, PD, BoTRK/TF, LW, Berseker. You won't ever need to build a defensive item given how much damage you would deal with tons of AD + around 70% crit chance or more(depending if going with BoTRK or TF) + armor pen + either Spellblade damage or BoTRK passive damage

Stacona1 votes

First off the scenarios where you will get Statikk Shiv and Lightning Blade are completely different - Statikk Shiv will pair with things like Infinity Edge, Ghostblade, and Blade - and there is Essence Reaver/ Blood Thirster as well Lightning Blade will be things like Hurricane for amazing synergy, Phantom Dancer or Blade - while Lightning Blade and Infinity Edge can synergize with each other because of the statikk passive that is a very expensive gold and no defensive stats at all so there is a very high risk and high reward element to this

Second Off Lightning Blade is very stat inefficient when it is alone, it is reliant on other items to make it efficient

Third off Infinity Edge and Statikk Shiv are a very efficient set of items because the shiv passive is amplified by infinity edge's passive and you get your complimentary attack speed and crit item with your IE --- Lightning Blade is in place for builds that want the shiv passive and things like hurricane and because this would be all attack speed and no damage Lightning Blade fits in very well here so you can see a lot more people building Hurricane because of Lightning Blade helping the item out - and yes I am aware of PHantom Dancer and Lightning Blade can work together as well - this combo is the same price as Infinity Edge and Statikk Shiv so this adds to the customization of players

Fourth off - you have an extremely high bronze mind since you don't look at realism from a game to game stand point - you look at 3 or 4 items minus boots as a more realistic build which you mainly just look at 3 items--- so routes will be things like Trinity Force, ER/BT or blade, Last Whisper --- Infinity Edge, Statikk Shiv, Last Whisper ---- OR ---- Lightning Blade, Hurricane/Phantom Dancer, Last Whisper and if you do not have a sustain/defense item (lifesteal) already then you get your ER/BT/blade next as a 4th item and this is your build structure on the average game

Damage Item --> Complimentary Item --> Penetration Item ---> Defensive/Sustain Item --> Whatever else you need for the current game NOTE: Trinity Force is technically a complimentary item and also has a very weird item pathing most of the time

Ale non è male1 votes

First off the scenarios where you will get Statikk Shiv and Lightning Blade are completely different

What? When you get Statik Shiv you are going to pair it with damage item, and when you get Lightning Blade you are going to pair it with an AS item, but you are going to use these items on the same kind of champs and the same kind of itemizations paths The only difference is that you are taking the strongest thing on Statik, for which you literaly pay in stats in a comparison vs vs PD , and you add it to an item that would be really powerful on itself (how the hell can you argue that it is stat inefficient on his own? Even without looking at the Crit for AS passive it would be hugely stat effective as it gives a lot of Ad, crit AND magic damage all on the same item)

Your third point don't make sense at all. Given HOW well Ie-Statik combo work, if you want to discourage the use of this combo or encourage the use of other items in the various combo like Hurricane, you should act to buff Hurricane, or buff Hurricane synergy with another major damage item, you should not just merge the strengths of IE and Statik in one item, to plug this new item together with IE and the hypotetical Hurricane - and I say hypotetical because no one right on his mind would pick Hurricane instead than PD - You just destroy Statik value, put PD in Statk place and you amplify IE power cause you got much more crit that with the actual build, when there are marksmen that were penalized by the AD itemization changes in 4.10 patch because they benefit less from IE + Statik combo than the other marksmen and would like to have a more effective build path for them

Lol at accusing me of having "bronze mind" and then stating that Trinity Force is a complementary item. Trinity force is a main damage item, and for some champs is an item rushed as first main damage item. Corki, which is one of the most powerful ADCs in high elo play rush Trinity Force as first item, he doesn't get it as "complementary item".

Damage Item --> Complimentary Item --> Penetration Item ---> Defensive/Sustain Item --> Whatever else you need for the current game

And well, looking at your "guide" on building paths, you failed if you were talking about the build for your suggested Lightning Blade item. You completely missed the crucial AS item for ADCs ,which is the biggest part of the audience for which Lightning Blade is thought since you specified that you looked at Lightning in combo with Hurricane, that is only for ranged champs (so not for melee bruisers), and AS item is surely not a "complementary item" for an ADC

The core problem is that you don't acknowledge how much the interaction between IE-PD-Lightning Blade- BoTRK-LW- Berseker/Mercury (offensive/defensive boots) would be SO strong damage wise, and sustain wise that this would soon became the dominant item. Even if it has "only" little lifesteal in theory(10% due to BoTRK), the amount of damage you would do with so high crit chance and AD and armor pen and damage enhance effect on BoTRK would be so high that you won't need a lot of defense as you could simply melt people that try to duel you. The only change would be if you need to plug it TF for the champs which benefit from the Spellblade effect, where you can swap TF for LW as you would deal magic damage, bypassing in a different way the enemy armor itemization

Stacona1 votes

Lightning Blade is a damage item, in a way as a substitute for Infinity Edge, Hurricane (and even blade or phantom dancer) are complimentary items since they help compliment and make Lightning Blade stronger and then you go for penetration and sustain

Infinity Edge has amazing synergy with Statikk Shiv and Lightning Blade uses the same passive, what you don't understand that the next item is going to be an attack speed item or you can also go ghostblade as the complimentary item, Trinity Force is considered more complimentary than a damage item even though tri-force is more of a stand alone item

What Lightning Blade is for is for options instead of resorting to Infinity Edge for your damage item every game and to allow Hurricane an item it can be paired with- because right now Statikk Shiv and Hurricane are great together but all you have is attack speed and no damage

as far as "insane amount of crit chance" goes, the second passive does not grant that much, but it is enough that allows it to be a great investment item later as well as with the AD and statikk passive allow the purchase to have a potent power spike early on- just like Infinity Edge the item has its power with other items

You have a very bronze mindset of thinking and something you need to take in account if gold and how ideal item paths work - Infinity Edge, Statikk Shiv, Last Whisper will be one path - while Lightning Blade, Hurricane, and Last Whisper will be another path --- the point to the item is to add customization and options as well as allow more champions with Hurricane synergy to buy Hurricane which otherwise will not buy the item because right now Hurricane pairs with Statikk Shiv which are 2 attack speed items, only Kalista can do this and late game Jinx

Ale non è male1 votes

NO NO NO. Why the hell people should think to substitute IE with Lightning Blade instead to use the synergy between them? It make completely no sense. Lightning Blade would not substitute IE, would just replace the 2nd major damage item that compliment IE and you highlighted as the defense/sustain item in your reasoning, since what you call defense/sustain item is stil a big damage item on first istance (wouldn't you call BT or ER a big damage item?). You are just blindfolded and do not see how an item which give additional damage on crit fit too well with another major damage item which give crit and how they are surely going to be picked together for a lot of burst damage That's why you fail to acknowledge how is clear that a IE-PD-Lightining combo would become a must to rush

And, no, AS item is not complementary. It is as important as the first damage item. Marksmen are meant to do sustained damage per second through ranged autoattacks, and AS dictate the number of autoattacks a marksman could do, hence AS item is as important as the first item damage wise and is core, not complementary. You can't just go with Yomuu as substiute of an AS item as 2nd item, unless you have yet rushed as main item a damage item which focused in dishing damage through AS like BoTRK or TF...the only exception to this rule being Lucian which uses CDR to boost damage through the passive and goes for burst which Ghostblade active can sustain. And no, Statik and Hurricane compete for the same spot, they shouldn't be paired together like you wish you could do, except maybe for some specific champs like Kalista

That's where your reasoning fail. You rush IE or Lightning as first damage item Then you go AS item Then you go your 2nd main damage item. Once you know that IE or Lightning is available as 2nd damage item, what would tell you to not use the big evident IE synergy with Lightining? And once you know that you can pick IE + Lightning that give you Statik passive, what tell you to not use the better synergy that PD stats have with both those items, a way better synergy than what those items would have with Statik and Hurricane stats? The answer to both question is nothing. Nothing. It is just too efficient to pick this combo You need something that bypasses armor too (LW, but if you do magic damage you could consider Trinity), you need boots, then you need sustain/defense, for which BoTRK/BT/ER/Mercurial would complete, and if you look well, BoTRK has a so big synergy with IE-PD-Lightning because of the AS that it becomes almost an obliged choice

Here you go with your stale itemization...Lightning wouldn't just have the effect to enlarge the viable itemization paths opening up the road to Jurricane and other items. it would just restrict the range of the optimal itemization paths to follows, and would tighten even more the meta to the champs that better scale with it (and I'm telling this as someone that picks Sivir when forced to go ADC, which is a champ that would receive a substantial buff from this)

Stacona1 votes

You can do whatever you want, the item is for options and customization you are not forced to do anything. But you have builds going on that...:

  1. Does not account for the game situation at all
  2. Does not account for the pace of the game at all
  3. Does not attribute gold in the manner of thing (yes, if I had an infinite amount of gold then I will always perform a super build every game)
  4. Does not attribute the items you need for that game based on the enemy team
  5. Does not attribute the enemy at all
  6. The enemy is apparently bots
  7. You do not try to be efficient with your builds or think realistically
  8. To be efficient with your builds you go something like Infinity Edge > Statikk Shiv > Last Whisper > Life Steal ... or Lightning Blade > Hurricane > Last Whisper > Life Steal
Ale non è male1 votes

Are you accusing me to not account for game situation, pace of the game, gold, enemy? Seriously? The cost of your defense/sustain item you actually pick as 3rd/4th is similar to the cost of this new Lightning Blade and IE.. If you can get enough gold for that item, you can get enough gold for get as third item either Lightning or IE And as yet stated, simply the damage output of IE-PD-Lightning combo would be SO high that would just be too convenient to go for it. Why everyone rush now IE instead of BT? because it is too convenient to do it so. So you can't talk about " not accounting for enemy/Game situation", where Ie-PD-Lightning will still always represent the better option to go if you can - and we are assuming here that you don't get horribly behind in CS and can decide what build to go -

You have not make valid point to counter the fact that IE-PD-Lightning is just too good, and your accusation of "not think realistically" is just laughable when you are denying that a combo which gives you tons of AD and 70% crit won't become the standard build for any ADC

Your only half-good argumentation is the order of the items to have the best efficiency, because according to the game you could change the order between LW, BoTRK and the IE/Lightning you won't pick as first item...but in the end the itemization path would always be the same, you would only have to decide which item place as 3rd, 4th and 5th between IE/Lightning, LW and BoTRK

Stacona1 votes

IE PD Lightning is inefficient - just get IE Shiv LW ER/BT delaying your last whisper is usually never a good idea Lightning Blade and Statikk Shiv have the same passives, just get the item that is 1000g cheaper and compliments IE better - there are other B.F. Sword items which all build into 80AD so you can get ER/BT and get lifesteal and possibly CDR too for a cheaper build then IE PD Lightning which delays your penetration and lifesteal

For a different build route you can go Lightning Blade, Hurricane or even PD/blade , and Last Whisper and then lifesteal if you want to glass cannon then you can buy infinity edge after- because Lightning Blade and Infinity Edge are heavy damage items and need their complimentary items, penetration, and life steal to follow up- you DO NOT want to delay your last whisper beyond 3rd item

Ale non è male1 votes

{quoted}

IE PD Lightning is inefficient

How is that inefficient? I'm still waiting for you to answer to that. You get 160 AD, 50%AS, 75% crit (and this not considering crit from champ AS growth), enhanced damage on crit becuase of IE passive, PD unit collision passive (better kiting/chasing) and Statik passive (through Lightning) on this combo. And this would be inefficient? There is no actual or alternative combo you are proposing that give more damage on 3 items. And upon getting LW together with this combo, you gain also the armor pen which will give you shit ton of damage on 4 items. If you need the armor pen before, you pick LW as 3rd item and the IE/Lightning you don't have picked first as 4th item, but the best combo on 4 item for damage would remain the same, IE-PD-LW-Lightning in whatever order you pick them

** Lightning Blade and Statik, although having the same passive, would just not compete against each other**.* Statikk would still complete vs PD (and Hurricane) as AS item and Lightning vs the other 2nd major damage item. * Given how Lightning wins vs the 2nd main damage item options because of the synergy with IE, and thus you got the Statik passive through it, the result is that PD wins vs Statik and Hurricane among AS items, and the IE-PD-Lightning combo become the dominant combo, to which you add your usual LW, boots, and defensive/sustain item

You only build one majour damage item because the other damage item compliments the first while granting lifesteal and is not innately a damage item alone

Statikk Shiv and Lightning Blade are not to compete with each others but offer different builds- this is fking impossible for you to comprehend- but Lightning Blade is on the same tier as Infinity Edge just like how Statikk Shiv and Phantom Dancer are on the same tier- Lightning Blade will make it so that Hurricane will be a part of the shiv and PD tier instead of being a distant item viable on a few champions like Kalista, Jinx and Kayle---

It is not like I am against building Lightning and I Edge in the same build but you have to realize that this is a double up on the damage tier items and will sacrifice either your life steal item or your complimentary attack speed item, only argument for delaying last whisper will be lightning blade and hurricane are together because the combo of the passive will deal a very high amount of magic damage since hurricane makes the statikk passive proc almost every 2nd attack on top of being with the highest tier attack speed item

But the build is inefficient because you can get the Statikk passive with Statikk Shiv, so Infinity Edge, Statikk Shiv, Last Whisper, ER/BT grants the shiv passive and your attack speed and crit while still getting your attack damage and life steal- this is efficiency... the other side is Lightning Blade with Hurricane / PD/ blade /ghostblade and Last Whisper and life steal if you didn't go blade--- Efficiency is getting all your majour stats with as few items as possible Again i am perfectly fine if you want to go infinity edge and lightning blade in the same build for high tier damage because everyone has the freedom and customization to do as they please and seeing unique builds is the goal, the goal is not to stagnate builds but open up more the user wants to do

I think that you have a limited concept of efficiency in LoL Slot efficiency comes from getting the best items to get the best stats to perform their own role in a team in that specific game. The same champs meta come from the fact that player base identify the best champs to fit a certain role in the best and most efficient way possible; and meta champs can be weak vs some non-meta champs as well, that if identified as strong counter can become meta theirself, that's what happened for example when Morg became meta bot lane to counter the bot supports that were meta at time

The reason why there are the actual current "standard" builds, is not because you are forced to get certain stats (for an ADC AS + AS+ lifesteal + crit + armor pen), but because the combo of those stats has been found to generally be more profitable than getting only AD, or only Crit, or only AS, etc...

But, in a vacuum, if an only AD build should demonstarte itself as a clear cut better build than the current one, people will go for it leaving behind other stats of the current builds...

Now, coming at the actual example of your item, you are the only one that does not see/accept/acknowledge how the 3 item combo of IE-PD-Lightning gives A TON of some core stats for ADCs and deal TONS of damage. Above is shown how big is the synergy is present with these 3 item combo and how high is the amount of 3 main stats + extra powerful effect iwould give, much higher than any other combo you can bring down here. And those 3 items give all of that while leaving enough open slots to get armor pen and sustain/defense, and giving you the possibility to choice the item buy order as you want given the game situations, as you can go 3rd item with LW, with IE, with lifesteal item, with everythign as you can get all you need in the final item whatever is the order the things you pick, and not forcing you to particular choice if you have certain needs in a game

Lightning + Hurricane is inefficient because you lack a lot of crit chance in comparison with Lightning + PD, assuming you want to rush Lightning first instead of IE . The difference is huge as you would get 24% crit on Lightning + Hurricane and 55% crit chance on Lightning + PD, without even counting the fact that PD got MS that eliminate the extra advantage theoretically given by the extra AS on Hurricane if charging the Lightning passive ( and it could be argued that it is safer to charge Lightning through moving with PD rather than correctly hitting 3 targets at the same time with Hurricane passive under enemy pressure)

Lightning has the highest synergies with IE and PD, it doesn't really open up extra open paths, but just tighten them, as the synergy among these 3 items, LW, and a lifesteal or a defensive item is so good that there won't be good reasons to go with something else. If you can't see the obvious even after that I explained it to you, is just because you refuse to see beyond your original idea that Lightning would pair better with Hurricane than with everything else, and you refuse to think that if you put so high synergy on IE-PD-Lightning (and the synergy of these 3 items with LW and a defensive/sustain item) the actual standard builds could just accordingly change ot the new item rather than be tighted with the previous path and build sequence
