Just so everyone doesn't just rely on the support player to ward the map? that way you dont have to worry too much about pinks unless facing champions such as rengo,khazix, teemo Etc, preferably as a last item
This is why we have Trinkets, Sightstone and Tracker's Knife.
While vision control is the responsibility of everybody on the team, the support is the one who can most easily fit Sightstone into their build (since they aren't as reliant on combat stats and will be roaming around the map more often than most other roles).
By all means, everybody on the team should contribute to vision control. However, the support should still be purchasing a Sightstone.
You're losing out on a combat item, which isn't something you can afford to do on any role but support.
Theoretically a great idea, but people don't value vision at all and would rather sacrifice better teamwork for raw stats.
I would always have to get a sweeper. even if my team is behind LOL
one sightstone and a bunch of trinkets is enough
1k gold can cost a marksman as much as 25% dps. Then none of those items offer any AD, so you're potentially losing 2k worth of dps or more. If the other guy is doing 35-40% more damage than you, it doesn't really matter how much vision you have

adc doesn't typically scale well with hp items, budget hp items are definitely going to screw them hard but yes they can build it, it just isn't worth it unless the support is an asshole who doesn't build sightstone
Jungler sometimes gets it but not always. Even when they do they don't always have time to ward everything and it has less charges. A lot of times you just get this because support is an asshole who wont get sightstone
Mid could build this but mid needs to carry the midgame in a lot of cases and wont synergize well with the sightstone. Normally mid will only get this if they need defense and support is one of those assholes who wont build sightstone
Top can scale ok with budget building but a lot of times top's optimal positioning will not allow effective use of it unless top just doesn't do tops job kindof like how the asshole support who won't build sightstone refuses to do theirs.
What if everybody bought a sightstone item? There'd be a lot of vision and wards, that's what.
I pick up when I'm behind as a mage. The cheap stats and warding passive help me not to die and I can still contribute to the team when teamfights break out.
I do the same with on tanks.
That would never happen because of "but muh damage" mentality.
About a month ago I had my jungler buy when I was support. It was around mid game if I remember correctly. I was pleasantly surprised. It was nice having two sightstones in play with two sweepers.
