The fuck happened to Nami?

RedCyclone··14 votes·2,542 views

She was one of the go to utility supports being second best to Janna, she was played pretty frequently and performed well...

Then she got buffed...

...and then she just fell off the grid...she is 0% pick/ban in Worlds, I never see her in solo queue anymore Is it more to do with her being part of a class what kinda sucks, or just due to tank support domination?

You could say its a "fish eat fish world"

After playing about 200 games with Nami , I've got to say that her weaknesses are just too crippling for her to be a pick at worlds. She's Squishy, Mana Hungry, Easily Ganked (she has no shields or escapes on her own), her bubble is unreliable, the damage she does is lack luster at best, and her AP ratios are lame. For all of these weaknesses you get the bubble, a heal/poke, a AA-Proc'ed Slow, a AOE Knock-up/Slow and a Speed boost. It's no wonder folks play Janna or Morgana over Nami these days. they're more reliable and have less weaknesses. in Worlds you want champs with the least exposable weaknesses as possible or at least a team comp that would cover any weaknesses. She can't even take advantage of any leads that she gets like the way Leona Thresh can.

to make things worse for our favorite sexy fish goddess is that one of her biggest strength is the laning phase, but the lane has been almost non-existent this worlds. I've been told Nami is the Jill of all trades support but at this point why would you want that where just about every other support can do her job better, more reliable and more survivable.

You just described Sona ....

I didn't say she was a walking ult after lane and nothing more.

3TWarrior1 votes

yep, cuz her Q dealing about 30% of someone's hp at a time then the auto attack bonus with the ability to heal at a range and outtrade many champs makes her a walking ult

Soraka has to be standing right next to whoever she is healing to give those godly heals and loses 10% hp for each heal

Janna is just a walking turret

then there are the tanks

Holy shit just because a champion isn't picked in proplay doesn't mean they are weak. Seriously getting tired of the "why isn't this champion played in proplay" posts all the time.

she wasn't that great to begin with. I could just play sona or any of the tanky supports.

Except Nami is better than Sona in practically every way.

Yeah if you are plat or higher sure. Gold and below sona is gonna win that since skilled nami isnt gonna exist there.

Sssh dont tell anyone that nami is still super strong

She's still solid, still a little bit of everything except tankiness/mobility.

Relic shield hurts utility support, she can misplay against tank supports and she's good at peeling but she's not dedicated to it the extend of Janna or even Morg.

When I'm first pick support I do pick her because her "counterpicks", excluding blitz, can still be easily worked around, though.

braum is a solid support pick in this meta... but not ban worthy compared to everything else, so you can't reliably pick nami 1st, and there are many other supports that work better than her against what is generally first picked

TyroneWatermelon1 votes

People often pick tabky supports because most players are greedy who picks only damage so it's usually 1 bruiser so the support would prefer a tanky one

Do you soloQ with her?

I used to main Nami. I have well over 1k games on her. She is strong and can be pretty game turning.

The reason i think she's not getting any play is because she isnt a tank or Janna. You basically need a starting 800+ health or youre just gonna get killed at level 2. Which sucks because my favorite champions to play are Nami and Soraka. I personally dont have any issues with any support thats not Blitz. After thousands of games on the same champions even bad matchups arnt so bad anymore.

who es nami?

Her Q is too unreliable now because of mobility creep

Vayne in almost every game. you will never land a bubble on her

Nami is still powerful and amazing. The reason she doesnt get picked at worlds is because other supports are just better.

Okamikazi1 votes

Mobility nerf took away her poke play which was the best thing about her. Now its better to play her as a back line healer which is boring.

I've almost never seen Nami in any of my games. The one time I did, it was a Nami with the chroma skin and, I'm pretty sure, a Level 5 mastery. I was her ADC (Ashe) and when we laned, WE CRUSHED SO HARD. She landed so many, beautiful double bubbles. Once we hit six, it was a massacre: Double bubble into my arrow, and followed up with Nami's ult if it was necessary. I hadn't thought much of Nami before, but after seeing what a skilled Nami can do, I wish more people played her.

Edit: I just checked the Nami's page and they have over 250k mastery points with her. On top of that, a 275k Ashe mastery. H-how was I, of all people, blessed with this support??

ashe - nami lane is so much fun. :) actually I love the fact that nami is never picked, that way people are always surprised by the damage she puts out and are less likely to dodge her bubble. Imo her team fight presence is as strong as any other support's as well.

In my experience, it's because other roles start to take higher priority (magic damage, artillery, tanking, etc) as more and more players keep overspecializing as a collective in AD Melee assassins. Utility supports only really work when the rest of the team actually has a hint of competence, since they're meant to be in the back buffing and applying crowd control over dealing straight up damage. If the team can't do shit (and I've seen this happen too often when everyone wanted to be Yasuo), then it falls on the support, who generally has the closest thing to utility on the team (unless they decided to be Shaco. Then you're fucked).

I used to play as Nami frequently, but then came too many scenarios when I'm the only one with any ranged abilities, but none of the firepower to make it mean anything. I switched to mage supports for this reason, and I'll continue to do so until the community gains some forethought and hindsight and stops exclusively picking AD melee assassins.

It's difficult to build enough tank on her to be more than pokey-sustain- I love her and she's great, but she can't perform as well higher levels who really know how to exploit her weaknesses. An E can slow your target IF the adc knows/sees the E on them to land a bubble, but if you don't do it right, your shit is down for up to 8 seconds and all you have is a heal. She is, however, way way better than Sona.
