"Huge" champs should force minions aside.

I'm not talking Kench or Nautilus, I'm talking full size Zac or Chogath with flasks. At a certain point even so much as stepping NEAR minions means "Well, guess I'm stuck minion-pathing for the next 3 seconds." It just kind of gets silly when this big lumbering blob monster starts spinning in place because he has a small panic over not wanting to squish the soulless creep around him.

Shen should also phase through minions because he is the Eye of Twilight and 2 foot tall dwarves shouldn't be able to stand in his way.

Sion shatters the earth. Small minions shouldn't impede him.

He only has one good leg which he limps on, though...

Say that to full crit Sion.

Crit is sooo bad on Sion. Why must the animation be sooo satisfying to watch?

He can move them by shouting for pete's sake...

Might as well let him walk through them.

NinjaGuy6911 votes

There are a lot of balance factors to take into consideration when you give large champions the ability to not only ignore minion collisions but to even move them aside. These champions would essentially be granted free utility by being able to ignore minion collisions while also being able to manipulate how and when waves crash into each other by using their bodies to move the minions to the side. There are a lot of balance implications that come into play if these large, tanky champions were given this ability.

morris150 votes

By the time Zac has enough health or Cho'gath enough stacks wave manipulation isn't as important.

Aguy772 votes

Well if it wasn't important and manipulating minions didn't matter that late in the game then why is this thread even here? Pushing the minions aside is a form of minion manipulation which he obviously wants to change because he is tired of being stuck on minions in the late game which could mean the difference between life and death even in the late game, so it IS important.

morris11 votes

I responded to a comment talking about crashing waves closer to your tower by blocking minions, I did not at all mention creep block.

Aguy771 votes

you can already manipulate waves and do that by standing in front of the creeps, also creep block is what OP is talking about, which is who Ninjaguy replied to

Profirix3 votes

I was actually going to post this exact thing: by the time you get close to 10 stacks and are level 16 on Cho'Gath, minion collision is just a nuisance and doesn't alter the flow of the game at all. Obviously you can make it so super minions aren't affected but regular minions should not cause Cho to learn ballet.

SettDownShutUp20 votes

Another option would be for them to simply be able to step OVER the minions, considering they're so massive.

TwinkiePro7 votes

If the next champion is a juggernaut, i think that would be a dope passive similar to sunfire. unit is permanently ghosted and walking on minions causes physical damage based on level. champion size also scales with level.

Rito Staff1 votes

Upvoted good passive

Tommy PickleNose1 votes

Yeah I always wanted a passive version of alistars trample.

TwinkiePro1 votes

Sounds like a little /s

It would play out differently than his trample as it would be a permanent effect rather than after spell cast and deal physical damage.

Tommy PickleNose1 votes

No I was being 100% serious. Sorry for the sarcastic tone haha. I really liked how old alistars passive worked after spell casts and thought it would be cool to have that on a champion as an actual ability. I like the idea of physical damage but then you get into problems with how insanely good black cleaver would be on this champ. They would shred armor for just being in the area and get the phage movespeed as well when procing it. I do like the idea though I think it could fit on a tank jungler to be honest. Or even a reworked rammus passive where instead of ad or bonus damage autos based on armor it could just be a trample type ability based on armor and still deal physical damage. It could help with his clear speeds. Ok I'm done mumbling words sorry.

TwinkiePro1 votes

thanks for clearing that up, and you bring up a good point on that phage passive. It might also synergise too well with sunfires as well. so who knows, someday...

Tommy PickleNose1 votes

Yeah I can see it being a problem with sun fire and abyssal mask as well. Even rylais if they could benefit from the ap it gives. Who knows though I could see it being balanced around.

FilDaFunk1 votes

Instakill own minions.

GoldPerception1 votes

Bad because this can be used to deny the farm for the opponent, which just makes it completely unfair. If they can't cs, they're basically stuck. Denying farm is part of the game, but to this extent would not be feasible.

Yeah, they might actually have something to make them feel a bit tanky again. You can't tank 3 hits of an ADC but at least you got minions.

Aguy771 votes

I don't see why people are downvoting you, you're not wrong, even if it's not what everyone wants right now. Plus I feel like there would be a lot of bugs and complications with people pushing Herald away from turrets, or 2 giant champions standing next to a minion spawn point and grouping minion waves to deny cs, or even pushing baron/dragon out of their spawn. like, someone is going to find a way to abuse that I know it.

NinjaGuy691 votes

Not sure, man. Everyone's a balance expert on these boards I guess. The only way for them to express their dissatisfaction with a rational comment is to downvote it into oblivion.

All champions should be able to push minions aside, fuck creepblock.

Baka Red5 votes

I mostly agree; Allied minions should make room for the champion when s/he approaches, but enemy minions should stand their ground and at least slow the enemy champion's advance as s/he pushes against them. Creep block as it exists currently is not nice.

iamthegoatofwar4 votes

If ally minions yes fine. Honestly all champs should after the 1st wave be able to "push" a minion around a bit. If enemy minions no they're supposed to try and stop you.

ModKnightsKemplar4 votes

I think, once a champ has flask, that would be really cool. Even cooler would be to just stomp them and do damage.

TequilaZombie1 votes

BRB I'm about to creep deny in LoL instead of DotA

ModKnightsKemplar1 votes

Lol

Yeah, I guess maybe you shouldn't damage your own minions. But you should definitely be able to stomp enemy minions. That's just cool.

Aguy773 votes

There is this item in the game called a "Phantom Dancer" item 3046 and a summoner spell called "Ghost" summoner 6 and both of those should solve your problem additionally a lot of champions have that ability built in like Garen 's Q, with Zac minion collision doesn't matter since he's usually in his E or Ult anyways for the duration of the fight.

However I think it would be pretty great if item 2138 made you ignore unit collision

Praetor Notorias1 votes

I'd be down for this. It gives you a reason to buy it other than to block skill shots. I'm tired of minions breaking ranks to mess up my perfect Taric E.

SwiftKitten882 votes

it would honestly make since for all champions to push allied minions out of the way.

Steelflame2 votes

Here is how I see it for all champions.

You can path through all of your own team's melee and caster minions. Can't path through Cannon or Super minions though, as their siege equipment is enough to make them too hard to push.

As for how you interact with enemy minions....

  1. Casters will get pushed out of the way of everyone but the smallest champions, like Teemo. They will impart a very brief and weak slow (10% for .5 sec) as you push them around on mid-sized champions.

  2. Melee minions can be walked through by mid-large size champions, such as Vi. They slow you more though than casters, and actively will grapple you. Bigger champs resist the slow more and more. Someone like max stack Cho would only get a 1% slow for instance, even when walking through a full minion wave.

  3. Cannon/Siege minions, or Promoted minions, can fully resist your movement. Normal displacement abilities and ghost abilities still work vs them, though.

Movement priority - How you click decides how your champ will attempt to move around enemy minions. A single click will let them walk around (Live movement), while holding down the mouse button will cause them to try and path through the minions.

PaffWasTaken1 votes

They should create a whole new champ subclass including every champs that are supposed to be huge lore wise and actually make them bigger with some buffs linked to it. Some balancing to it, like 1 champ with that kind of bonus per team or something like this, and this would be something I would like to see. It would give a real meaning to champs supposed to be huge tanks but that are just cc machines

Blu3Jay1 votes

Make a tank item that ghosts?

Subiee1 votes

But this argument just opens pandoras box... You could then make an argument that all floating champs should not get creep block because technically they could just hover over them...

dominusx1 votes

tfw you jump as K6 and still get Cait Trapped. Logic is not for league bud.

Wráthful1 votes

i mean ... malphite is a mountain and still ashe is taller then him btw riot should get rid of minion blocking it's not fair to die not by mistake, but by minions blocking your way it's ridiculous and riot doesnt even think of it as a bug.

Garlic Butter1 votes

the problem with ghosting, ESPECIALLY as a tank is that you cannot creep block, or unitcollsion people into walls/trap them/bodyblock/force targeted skill shots to target you, or force attack move commands to attack you (there is fun tricks you can do with annie and tibbers while ghosted, since tibbers is not ghosted).

There are several champions whom ignore unit collision already, cho does not be concerned about creep block because one E clears the entire wave, you aren't weaving AA's properly while moving is all.

Super massive champions DO push minions aside (but only while the minions are "walking") more than their small forms, a few very small champions have very large unit collision boxes and some VERY large champions have incredibly tiny ones(alistar), this is more true of melee champions than ranged champions who have rather large collision boxes (excluding "old" champions from when league was first released, except taric and poppy).

Fizz is permanetly ghosted and takes almost no damage from minions due to his passive, this disables him from doing a large majority of things in game, but allows him to attack lead and trap people inside minion waves no problem.

Cho'gath's collision with minions is part of what keeps him balanced despite his kit's enormous power.
