Great, another mastery that lets ranged champions bully melees harder in lane!

Fresh Blood (Ferocity, Tier 2) - [Pic]

"Your first basic attack against a champion deals an additional 10+ 1 per level damage (6 second cooldown)"

Also, Fervor was changed to 10-60 AD at max stacks, meaning the damage can crit now and scales on champs like Yasuo better.

Meanwhile its gutted for every on-hit champion that never actually abused it to their extent.

For fuck's sake, Riot. Cut this shit out. This is getting absurd.

These mastery changes are a complete joke.

And a Rioter mentioned there'd be some juicy resolve options to make it more appealing...

WoonStruck9 votes

Fervor and Fresh Blood are infuriating.

There's absolutely no damage penalty for range, even though they scream for you to abuse them over melee for a free laning phase.

I mean they designed Gnar and Kalista back to back so clearly they couldn't care less about giving melees extra bullshit to deal with

oh please Kalista is shit now

Is Fresh Blood seriously giving Cait an extra 10+level damage every six seconds to make your life miserable early game?

Don't forget auto attacks from brush. 3% of your current HP in magic damage.

New masteries are great for this game, I swear.

Ugh. I just realized that Mystic Shot will proc Fresh Blood, too.

What are OnHit champions supposed to be taking at this point? Bottles of their own tears?

Velzard of Koz1 votes

Bottle of Tears [Cunning, Tier I] ,,If within half-map range of ranged enemy that deletes 25% of your HP with their first surprising, unavoidable basic attack from distance, gain 50% MS when moving towards fountain and ability to hide beyond fountain turret."

Rip On-hit champions. I mean, Fervor's original iteration was physical damage anyway. I guess on-hit champs are allowed to build crit now? I think this is technically a Yi buff. Dying internally

tbh i dont see the difference in this case. its not like those champions arent already using fervor to maximum effect.

and since that build doesnt include a lot of crit, it would probably be weaker on them than its now.

WoonStruck2 votes

Yeah, I probably wouldn't seriously get PD or FM on most of the old Fervor users unless obscenely fed just for the beefiness and damage it offers.

Its just irritating that the large majority of mastery changes benefit marksmen who were already really strong. Fighters/skirmishers were not.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

Yi does need a buff to be honest, the rest doesn't.

WoonStruck2 votes

Yeah, but at the expense of everyone else except marksmen and Yasuo is kinda lame.

Hell, its even better for Yasuo than everyone else now.

GULAG 4 U2 votes

I have no fucking idea why riot is doing this. This makes this shit even better on ADCs, and now Yasuo will be broken as fuck with it again. Riot is high or did ff@20 fuck their shit up?

WoonStruck2 votes

Its pre-season. Riot's annual clam-baking session.

GULAG 4 U2 votes

But making fervor give ad is simply stupid AF. Rito pls.

Oh my fucking god....

I'm going to one trick jungle, fuck this shit toplane is a clownfiesta confirmed

WoonStruck3 votes

I'll see how it turns out for my Vlad. Fervor Riven was always easier to deal with than TLD Riven.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

Riven gets more DPS while thunderlords make her level 3 all in extremely dangerous with ignite.

If fervor gets stacks when you use abilities...

Hecarim.... I'm not even going to continue.

WoonStruck3 votes

Fervor has a hard time catching up to TLD.

Considering she has to use abilities to close, she can't actually get that many autos off.

In melee match-ups, maybe Fervor will be better, but still going to be TLD for the most part. I'm more scared of all the extra damage being added to the low-tier masteries.

Wolfram Oxford3 votes

I don't think that Riot really likes the idea of having champions centered around on-hits. But besides that, this is a nice change for tanks because skirmishers aren't going to be doing as much, and a nice change for marksmen and bruisers because you gain AD that helps abilities.

WoonStruck7 votes

Marksmen are a large part of the problem with Fervor.

Yasuo was only an issue because FM+PD+Fervor.

Its not a nice change for tanks because Fervor does more damage early now, scales those skirmishers' abilities now, and way more early game damage options have been added.

to be fair, it takes longer to stack up, but yea. i can see how crit could make this better than the current fervor.

It's ostensibly a buff for anyone who builds Crit when packing Fervor. Pretty hefty nerf to everyone else, though.

I feel like with all of these new poke-focused Masteries we REALLY need something in Resolve that gives hefty flat damage reduction against attacks from 300 range or more away.

Spoofghoul2 votes

Better masteries & itemization to deal with poke would indeed be a godsend.

At least until we can specialize tanks better in the tank update. There can specialize them vs different types of dealing damage like poke/burst/ad/ap/dps/on hit & dot

Then we can pick the tanks best suited for the job at hand, after all one of their main uses is to brush of damage and then bringing the pain with utility and cc or situational damage

Good news is that it might get Quinn gutted.

I don't usually have problems with her, its just such a boring, one-sided match-up unless you can out-scale her...in which case it starts in her favor and ends in yours, retaining the one-sided nature.

I want all of the gimmick match-ups to die.

We'll see.

Pretty easy to outscale her, isn't it? Once faced a super fed Quinn only for her to fall off the face of the map after 40 minutes.

Edit: Ok, rereading that, it sounds pretty bad. Nvm I guess. Stall stall stall!

The new armor mr buff for 2 seconds after getting hit stips alot of setup damage.

If a champ like syndra ryzr get free combo damage they have to delay thier abilities to get full value on bruisers/tanks.

Def better than ss reduction of some low perserverance regen

is 10+1 per level a whole lot?

I mean...

if you and your lane opponent are level 10, thats just 20 damage on the first auto..

Its not a lot really. Double Edged sword (now removed) did bonus %damage for everything, and this is just a flat tickle on the first attack.. its only 1 damage per level, not like 3 or something.

WoonStruck4 votes

Its not about the scaling, its about early game.

It basically is making ranged more oppressive vs melee in lane than they currently are. Not only that, but it will effectively negate and surpass Doran's Shield, which was already absurdly weak.

Malicious Metal7 votes

They still get 5% increased damage and 10 more damage is a lot if you consider most AA's already deal 60ish damage

its a lot early on. there is also a this:

Greenfather's Gift (Cunning, Tier 4)

"Stepping into brush causes your next damaging attack or ability to deal 3% of your target's current health as bonus magic damage (9s Cooldown)"

guess who will profit from that the most.

combined, this makes ranged poke hurt a lot. but whats really anoying is that this mastery is also going to be useful lategame all around the map, while the 8 armor/mr near turrets are going to be useless outside sieges and laning.

WoonStruck1 votes

Huh, I wonder if its supposed to be a buff to a single specific champion that isn't getting good reviews right now...

Hello support Ivern. Your time has come.

Tormentula1 votes

Like I said i don't know if its as oppressive as double edged. Double edged sword is REMOVED/REPLACED with this meaning there isn't a significant damage spike.

You figure level 1 somebody has 400 health up there depending on runes and shit, and that first auto only takes 11 off of that 400 level 1, every 6 seconds. Your doran's item would heal it off early levels, (blade or shield) and it would just look more and more pointless as the game goes on.

I feel like its scary on paper but not a game changer in practice. Feast doesn't make you feel like a mundo in lane because it gives 20 per minion, and this won't make your vlad feel like a quinn past 3 levels.

WoonStruck4 votes

Actually, it is.

10+1/lvl + 3% max HP x 105% x 102.5%

So we're looking at around 32 additional damage from any of the no-cost harass that ranged can throw out vs melee. Just from the season changes. So that's not including, the now stronger early, Fervor and 2.5% that was already applied by Double-Edged Sword.
