PSA If you're top laner lost lane pretty badly, don't get into a 4 v 5 on enemy side and flame him
PREFATORY NOTE: I recognize I used the wrong "your" in the title, english feelsbadman
Ok. So I lost lane pretty badly as
and had to stick in the lane and farm it out to catch up while my enemy laner roamed. My team decides to get into a fight under the enemy mid lane turret and lose a 4 v 5 (shocker). While most of my team was understanding as to why I didn't follow my laner, the fizz just started flaming me so damn hard. I sat there and took that shit like a man lol.
He just was obnoxious because they lost a 4 v 5 under the enemy turret. He wanted me to roam as an 0/3 darius who was behind the enemy top lane irelia by almost 60 cs. Obviously I had to farm it out, I had to catch up, I had to get my tank items before I could group to be somewhat useful.
Lo and behold, I catch up and even exceed irelia in farm, and in our next fights I joined the team and was able to actually frontline a bit and take a great deal of punishment so that my jhin and fizz didn't get focused down by a fed ass irelia and vi, and we ended up winning the game.
What am I trying to say in this post? A couple things.
#1 Please don't flame your teammates in general because it's just wrong and it brings people down. I have thicker skin and can ignore this stuff, but I know some people probably would have just left the game without a care, knowing, with delight, that their obnoxious teammate will lose the game and rage like a child
#2 There's a thing almost unique to top lane that I call "damage control" and it's something that occurs whenever one loses lane pretty hard. It involves quite a few things which I shall list here:
- I have to concede a lot of cs whenever my laner comes back to my lane, because if I get greedy or try to fight, I'll just feed really hard and make the game even more lopsided
- When my laner roams, I must warn my team that I cannot follow the roam this early on in the game because I'll be useless and I'll miss a ton of experience and gold by not CSing and chances are when I follow my laner and we skirmish it out I'll just get fucked into next tuesday because I'm almost irreparably behind.
- I must warn my team to not be too aggressive on the map because they risk getting into a 4 v 5 while I catch up to my laner.
I did all three of those things on "damage control"
The only time you HAVE to ignore the 2nd step of damage control is if the enemy team starts barreling down towards your inhibitors. However, the enemy team was stalling out the lanes and clearly had NO IDEA how to carry a lead well, so I had the opportunity to farm it out and catch up, and ultimately be in a spot to be a useful frontliner that can peel and tank for my carries and help win the game for us.
That's all, and to the fizz in my game who was being a total asshole, I didn't report you, maybe one day you'll learn why I did what I did and that by doing what I did, you didn't lose the game. In my book, you're absolved of your ignorance and hatred.
