His shield is straight up busted, it saved him twice during that combo. Under no circumstance would any other squishy live through that combo from a fed Jayce, but you know why he did? Passive shield that he gets for free, and it refreshes when he ults.
Remove his shield and he will be balanced.
Removing his shield will also change his play style, as he can no longer carelessly go in and trade without taking much damage.

Yeah I think you're exaggerating. I can think of many other skirmishers that would have survived that if Syndra came to back up as well.
Fiora riposte, Riven Valor, Tryndamere undying rage, Master Yi meditation, Camille Adaptive defenses, Jax Counter Strike and Grand Master might.
I hate Yasuo as much as the next guy but his shield isn't what I hate him for.
