Question to those who escaped silver to gold or anyone of high elo.

Simple question. When my team tends not to group around mid game, what are my options? Or what is the most effective option?

1v5 they do this in every elo so dont be disappointing when you get to higher elo and this still happens you need to ping or split to victory

Just climbed out of Silver into Gold. If you're a solo laner and this is consistently a problem for you, sometimes it helps to play a split pushing champion.

A champion like Camille or Aatrox or even Leblanc allows you to kill whoever comes to the side lane for a 1v1, and sometimes even a 2v1. When this happens it gives you and your team a large advantage, and also may allow you to get an objective afterwards, if not just teleport and take a baron. You have to be very mindful of your item spikes, and make sure you've reached a strong enough point in the game to split push. If you're 0 and 5, you likely have little threat on the enemy laners. They hard part is having enough restraint to ward properly and avoid getting collapsed on by the entire team when 3-4 people are missing.

If not a split pusher, usually playing very consistently throughout the game, and then calmly calling the shots works for me. If you're playing well and not flaming, usually people will be more inclined to listen to you and follow your directions. Everybody wants to win and gain LP, and if what you're saying makes sense, even toxic people will be inclined to listen (sometimes).

Hope this helps somewhat!

Last Paragraph worked for me mostly.

I just got to Gold playing support only. Didn't have to split push etc.

I just tried to be in the right spot as often as possible and would calmly suggest what we should be doing. Most times a few pings kept us together. Just don't flame or set people on the defensive during the game. Realize it won't work every time and just move in even it doesn't.

75% of my communication is with pings, which works more often than not. I might prep something by typing "if we get a win bot let's do drake" and get some counter vision up beforehand. Then Ping drake soon as we get a kill and have a numbers advantage.

Just split push.

You kinda just gotta try to be fed and be able to fight enough of the enemy to make up for your teams macro. Its a lot harder now than it use to be with the burst and mobility champs have now. U can try guiding them but they prob wont listen. You really cant see some people doing some weird shit down in silver/gold. Like supports splitting, everyone on team but jungler breaking up to take all jungle camps, and that top laner who'll only ever run down a side lane till dead from start to finish every game.

Some of us are against the "GROUP GROUP GROUP GROUP" Mentality.

For instance - I'm a Diana Main. She's not great in Teamfights(Being a 1 for 1 teamfighter - Dive in and kill someone before you die.) To add to it, my teamfight gameplay isn't the best to begin with. What I'm best at is laning safely and eventually becoming a problem for the enemy.

I make this happen by actively avoiding grouping. When that 9-11 minute mark comes and everyone comes to midlane? Yeah, I'm not ready yet. I still need 7-10 more minutes of farming before I become scary in a teamfight. You know what I CAN do though? Split a side lane, and dump on basically any champ that shows up trying to 1v1 me.

Sure, lots of people get mad - But they almost always end up less upset once they realize I've taken 6 turrets, 2 inhibs, and a nexus, by the time the game ends.

I'm not saying I never participate in teamfights, but I sure don't go looking for midgame teamfights, which is what you're suggesting. Some champs just aren't ready to teamfight yet when that first tower falls and everyone starts wandering aimlessly looking for fights.

(TLDR - Not everyone is going to group, sometimes its easiest to just be that person who doesn't group, and push for wins on your own.)

  1. Sometimes a game just isn't winnable outside of being extremely skilled at the game. If the team isn't willing to group whatsoever, yeah you might lose some games. There isn't a secret way, at least that I've found, to win those super hard games or make people do things they just aren't wanting to. Some games you just have to 1v9, and you won't always be able to.

  2. Other times your team might listen. If you're really nice to them throughout the game and are able to secure a lead in your lane you might be able to convince the team to group through chat if you're nice enough. It won't work every game, but if it works in even a few, that's potentially a few losses turned into wins.

  3. Think about the reason why they aren't grouping. Maybe the enemy team really does have a better teamfight. Are you against Karthus/Vlad/Graves/Leona/KaiSa or similar comp? Maybe your team has Garen who's really far ahead and you're playing Akali or Shaco. Your team is not going to win those team fights even if you're even on gold. In those cases, think about how you can split the enemy team to pull focus away from objectives that you can take while they're split.

You need to be pushing sidelanes and going for objectives.(ping them, hopefully they come)

If you are not splitting and the splitters just refuse to group the last thing you need to do is try to force an ARAM without them.

This loses me way to many games in low plat, I will be splitting and my team will charge into them 3v3, lose and blame the splitters.

Push side lanes(be careful when pushing sidelanes against champs like leblanc) - go for objectives as atleast a 4 man - turn on the first guy that shows his face - win game.

Give them pressure so they can do their job while splitting or the enemy team will collapse on your teammate then proceed to 5v4 you or whatever.

Take all the gold on the map for yourself and hard carry. I’m not even kidding. Steal jungle camps, take cs. Everything
