At this point, after the mastery system had been out for so long, when someone plays a chanp they have no mastery level on, it basiclly tells you the player either: 1.doesn't play the champion enough to actually know the champion. 2. is a newbie.
both of which really hurts the chance of the team winning.
Maybe mastery lv3 is a decent limit? that is like what? 10 wins?

Amelie2 votesIt hasn't been out for "so long" at all. I'm still missing mastery 3+ on champions that I know how to play, but haven't played recently or often enough. I have over 4000 games played; I'm not a newbie. If the system came out earlier, I would have mastery 5 on a TON of champions.
I totally get where you're coming from, but your solution only works for new(er) players to the game. Veteran players are still missing masteries. It will take time to catch up 100%, if it ever happens... I personally don't want to grind mastery levels just to be "allowed" to use my champion pool...

I see both sides to it. But if you are first picking or counter picking OP that you can't play you don't understand league anyways.
SO preventing those players form picking the champ they haven't played won't do much really...
