E max first nasus...

I guess Nasus really is being played more for the early-mid game (mid game in particular) instead of the late game. Is this a healthy evolution of the champion or is it a concession that Nasus simply sucks ass late game, even after the ult buff?

who the hell maxes E first on nasus outside of ARAM? that thing literally eats through your entire mana bar making his early game even weaker than it already is since you have to make sure to land every single E on the enemy in order to do anything

Common build at the moment, I think it was popularized by Quas.

Corrupting Potion -> 2x Doran's Rings -> Normal Build

Basically, it is meant for surviving the early game and controlling the minion wave. You are basically sacrificing early Q-stacks for reliable farming and not being forced out of lane.

Dyrus has been doing it too. Sirchez does it often as well, even when he isn't doing ap or crit nasus. I've seen random top laners doing it on high level streams as well.

Basically, quite a few players much better than either of us.

E can be a powerful zoning tool if used correctly, and it's nasus' only way to deal with his laners, especially pokey ones, but maxing it doesn't seem too efficient, it costs far too much mana to be reliable and should really just be used in case they want do dive you or when you are actually fighting the enemy (not before the fight, just when the fight starts and you're sure the enemy will eat most of it since he's trading you).

The new fad is dorans ring starter to help cover some of those costs.

I tried to do that too back when I plaed him top in like s3/4 I think, it's not too good since you're too open to poke and all ins... if it works it means that people just forgot how to punish nasus, which is just sad...

It isn't really for dominating the early and mid-game.

It is more about surviving the early and mid-game without getting bullied out of lane or falling behind in farm.

The question being posed really is if it's a healthy build or if it's a reflection of nasus being unable to fulfill his most notable role as a late game scaler (which of course, he has failed to really fulfill for about a season or so now, whereas he used to be one of the late game monsters that you kicked yourself in the ass for for not ending the game fast enough), whether that's because he isn't really godlike late game anymore or because early games have become more oppressive, particularly in ranged matchups, than they ever used to be.

Nasus has never been a late-game scaling champion.

While he is decent in the late-game, he primarily excels in dueling targets and splitpushing. he is rather weak in teamfights, especially in the late-game when the enemy carries have penetration and a team to peel for them. In addition, Nasus can't efficiently itemize percentage armor penetration, so he can't deal with durable targets very well.

Nasus is a monster in the mid-game when skirmishes are occurring, he has his defensive items and the enemy carries don't have penetration yet.

He's a late game raid boss according to riot (which I would assume is more of a duelist, which usually happens to split pushers as you noted).

In a difficult lane like Teemo, Nasus can max E first and basically just stay at a huge range and spam drop it for tons of damage on Teemo and there's nothing he can do about it.
