How do mana heavy champs deal with mana issues now?

Besides manaflow band and presence of mind because manaflow band won't do much if you're a mana heavy champ anyway and presence of mind is situational and only restores mana spent for its duration.

And really, if you have to spec into both of these runes because the mana problem is so bad, then that is itself a problem.

Learn to manage your mana and not spam your abilities 24/7 like a madman?

Ever thought of that?

Manaband is giving you more than enough to get through laning phase, after that you don't have much mana problems and if you do maybe get a Tear or ROA in the early game.

Try to tone down the passive aggressiveness, please.

Meh, maybe next time

What champions are you playing to have mana problems to begin with?

Every mana hungry champion (other than lux) has a mechanic in their kit to gain mana

Mostly Taliyah. Given the meta right now that requires you to push heavily into the enemy towers so you can roam, this is a bit of a problem since taliyah needs to use at least 2 of her spells, 3 if it's a difficult lane, in order to push effectively and they aren't cheap in terms of mana cost (particularly in early game).

When you had the original morello's, you could get a kill and stay in the fight longer too because of the mana restore (I imagine this applies to some other mids that roam as well). Without it, her only option will be to back. Considerably less interesting.

So you want Riot to support this mindless wave clear spam in mid lane without ever interacting with your opponent? (man there was that passive aggressive thing again but it's not that bad this time right?)

I get that you have to do it because thats just the meta right now but I appreciate that Riot is trying to change this.

Some champs should be able to do this like Ziggs or Azir but when 90% of all mid laners just clear waves all day sinde they have infinite mana then mid just becomes boring and stale.

I play Swain mid a lot and the way I do it is to just literally auto the creeps and finish them off with 1 or 2 Qs

You can't tell me that you run OOM when you use 1 or 2 Qs as Tali per wave even with mana band and dorans ring.

You can still do it but you can't just cast 3 Qs and a E W whenever a wave arrives and expect to do that for the first 15 minutes

Taliyah, does not have much of an option here. She's at her peak when she's cleared the wave and goes to roam. I'm not really doing it because of the meta, I'm doing it because that's an efficient way to play her. Especially when people are hiding behind their minions so often that it's impractical to try and hit them with Q. You might as well push the wave into their tower so you'll have CS advantage.

I can tell you right now that this change doesn't discourage me from pushing the wave. In fact, not much has really changed about that.

And no, I don't go oom after 1 or 2 Qs. My concern is more to do with mid and late game, where the old morello's still had an impact by virtue of giving you mana from kills and assists in teamfights. Now, you just go back when you're oom. And it's a lot more boring.

I mean there are other Mana options now for mid and late game.

The GLP500 or whatever its name is gives mana now Tear items give a shit ton of mana now ROA might be a solid item to go

When you want your late game to be strong you should sacrifice some early game to do so (going ROA or Tear)

It's not about being strong, it's more about being able to do something, which you can't without mana. GLP-500 is the closest to being a decent item for mana, but it doesn't give any restore, it's just a flat gain. Tear isn't terribly good on Taliyah outside of the CDR. RoA is ok, but only if you expect to be hit and as a long range mage, that shouldn't be happening much anyway.

I brought this up because it seems to be something Riot neglected in the AP items rework. If they addressed it somewhere, then I have yet to find their excuse for removing the mana restore component.

The excuse was because everyone had infinite mana and pushed waves all day in laning phase

You could get ROA into Ludens into GLP that's 1.5K mana You have mana band You have a blue buff You have mana regen You have base mana

I get that you don't always want to get these items but if your playstyle is to bombard people with spells then you have to. I played some Brand before he even had this mana return mechanic and managing my mana and spells was the most important thing. If I just bombard them with spells im OOM in about 3 minutes, If I carefully use my spells and only then when they are nessecary I can last way longer on the field without running OOM

That whole mana wave push thing was because of lost chapter which still exists. So if that was what they tried to address then even I could have told them it wasn't going to work before they released the patch.

the problem was that lost chapter built into an item that 95% of the whole mid lane mage roster used... as a first item that is.

Now you got Ludens with the stattik shiv proc GLP thing Archangel staff

Not everyone wants one of these 3 as a first item. Maybe Ludens becomes the new rush item who knows but after finishing it you have to manage your mana again to some extend.

You can just buy lost chapter but that means that you are carrying an unfinished item that isnt a semi item with you (hexdrinker / bramble).

Which does nerf the infinite mana thing. Riot didn't want to complete destroy this strategy but rather just nerf it. Which I think was a success..... more or less....

Presence of mind + tear is OP 115% of mana spent is refunded which means 15% of the mana you spend during presence of mind is instead gained.
