Can we stop pretending that it's okay to wish cancer upon someone? I don't care if you're joking or not, it's not a joking matter. A lot of people have lost loved ones to cancer, why the hell are you going to make it something to laugh about? I just, I can't even put into words how much it angers me that people likely get away with this behavior, chances are it wasn't their first game doing it. They literally flamed the entire game.

It's a sad day when things like this are accepted as jokes because lol internet memes. Cancer isn't a meme, stop acting like it is. For whoever reads this, thanks for your time and I'm sorry for your losses. Also sorry for complaining but I had to vent x.x

EDIT: Thanks to everyone who actually understands that it's not a joking matter. As someone else said in this thread it's the same deal with suicide. Suicide isn't funny, telling people to kill themselves isn't funny. A LOT of us have lost loved ones to suicide and it's not funny. Can you imagine waking up every day fighting to get through each day because your mind.. the one thing that's supposed to be on your side through everything is sometimes actually very often times against you.? When you literally have no one to turn to because they haven't gone through it so they don't understand it?

Again to everyone who's lost someone to suicide or have been fighting the battle themselves. You have my deepest condolences and never stop fighting <3

An internet game shouldn't be your safe space.

I feel like people who make these kinds of posts would get heart attacks if they played on any call of duty game for 5 seconds. The things I've heard people say on that are nothing compared to what people get banned on league for. And it's voice, not text lmao.

I could say that its my opinion that item 3157 is cancer. I'm not wrong. Cancer isn't just the disease, there are other meanings to it.

I really don't like people who do this either. It doesn't help anyone out in the long run. My grandmother died from cancer and that's what I think of whenever I hear it.

The only time whenever I see "cancer" used as an expected meaning is when something is so ridiculous in game that we just call it "cancer." When in reality, we have no idea what cancer is, and how it affects us unless we've gone through it the hard way. Which 99% of us that say it, haven't.

I mean the main reason why they do/say is because it gets to you! The best thing to do is just ignore them and report them afterwards. It's not funny but the best thing about it is that Riot doesn't tolerate it so report!

has anyone also had a person laugh at you just because you're a beginner and you get a bad KDA? I have and I don't think it's funny. I recently just played match, and I literally told the whole team to not laugh at me because I'm a beginner. They even said "ok". But halfway through the match, they made fun of me for my bad KDA!

Love seeing this man. Really has me reflecting on some of the things i say, never anything like what you stated but ive said some stupid insults. Like yeah this is a game, but why bring in real world issues as a way to insult someone. We're supposed to be having fun, escaping reality, strategizing, etc etc but when shit like that gets said it completely ruins the game. It hurts some, and when your playing against randoms you never know whos dealing with what. another user could have cancer, could have a relative who recently passed, couldve attempted suicide, really anything tragic/traumatic, and we should all have this in the back of our mind. It's a game to play, "playing" is generally when someone wants to reileve stress, kick back, relax, and just get into a zone. why be toxic at all? were all humans whose best friend is LOVE. we need to spread love. sick of all the hate and rage on league.

Can I just say that my mother has cancer and despite this I am not actually phased when someone says something is cancer as I know they are just using it as a form of understatement but I do actually talk offence to someone making jokes about getting cancer

To be fair, it is just an insult. An insult is just an insult and holds no more value than any other insult. All they do is try to change the words just to get on your nerves; this is why people use new "hippy" insults to try to look cool. It still is toxic behavior, but really isn't any different from being called stupid.

Sure it's just words typed on the internet, but once that becomes a habit those words will be said in public and that's not something you can report to Riot.
