How do you stay motivated to keep climbing ranked?

2 seasons in a row now I hit gold and pretty much lose motivation to climb ranked. And what's worse is I lose motivation to play my main role - jungle. Season 6 after hit gold I played on alt accounts to play different roles and pretty much quit playing jungle altogether. I finished the season with 3 accounts in gold but..... lost any motivation to try and climb higher.

Now this season I took different breaks and was tilted for a large chunk of the season mainly because I was placed in bronze in basically everything. I know you drop rank at the start of seasons but for whatever reason I just didn't feel like climbing this season. I still really don't, which sucks because I still enjoy this game and feel like I finally have learned how to improve and climb I just now lack the motivation to do it.

There still over a month left on season 7 and I would like to get gold in all queues. I am close in 3v3, but still only silver 4 in flex 5v5. Regardless if I hit gold in those or not, I still am not sure if I can motivate myself to try and push higher in solo queue. As much as I have played this game and the improvement I have finally shown in the last 2 seasons compared to all the seasons before it seems silly to not even try to slowly push to plat throughout the course of a season. I mean... seasons literally almost a year long I have the time but halfway through I just quit.

Anyone have tips on what motivates them?

Honestly, S7 is my first season in this game and I want to hit gold for the victorious skins. Currently 1 promo win away from Silver 1. Wish me luck

Good luck! It might take more than one try as promos to next tier can be pretty shitty but I think you got it. Plus with promo helper, the next time you get back to 100 lp you get a free win.

For me it's just the thought that if you put time and effort in climbing you may one day become like one of the pro's today. A good way to climb and learn is to watch profesional game replays and streams etc. Also its just the competetive feeling that keeps me going, last season I finished at plat, this season i reached diamond but dropped due to a high amount of bad games and loses, so I'm here in plat again, still trying to get back to dia. :D*[sg-ahri-2]*

I'm the same way each season. Hit gold then play on other accts. I hit gold a lot earlier this season and told myself I'd push to go higher so next season I wouldnt have to grind as much to get back into gold, but havent found any motivation to do so

Got gold in the absolutely awful flex here too and while my alt is gold solo, cant bring myself to get gold flex there either. matchmaking is atrocious

Yea I just can't take Flex seriously. Seems like most people don't either when I play. Almost everyone always in an off role... more or less just using it as ranked normals. While I was in bronze flex there would maybe be one actual bronze player. Now I play more bronze players as I rank up through silver. Never know who I am going to be up against lol. Could be diamond/plat... could be bronze 4. I pretty much even stopped looking at ranks and just play lol.

Well, you really need to have a competitive mindset. I play Ranked to prove that I can beat my opponents when they're trying their best to beat me. My rank is sort of a trophy to show my improvement at the game.

If you're just getting tired or playing the same role, then alternate between 2 or 3 roles. I've gone Jungle in most of my games this season, but I'll occasionally switch to Top Lane when I get sick of my lanes losing despite my pressure.

Of course, I'm hard stuck Low Plat, and haven't been climbing much recently. I mainly blame that on toxicity, but I ultimately need to improve my gameplay.
