My feedback on runes
I read somewhere that riot reads these comments even though they reply rarely, so here is my feedback. I don't want to talk about specific runes, just the overall direction.
First, I think creating these runes is a great step. Now
- people can predict better what their opponents will do
- there are less disadvantages when you experiment with new champions
For a clever player this is much better than losing some cheesing (e.g. 1% crit).
The five basic paths have clear focus, I don't think you need to add or remove any of them in the future. To me the best path is resolve since it provides excellent offense and defense options. Perhaps this is the part where I have the most critics. I think even if a path focuses on offense, it should also provide a few good defensive options if players want to invest on that.
Precision: I like that it provides tenacity. However, this should be an early game tenacity, because in late game a caught adc dies even with 50% tenacity. My suggestion: you get 1% tenacity in every 2 sec, max 25% after 50 sec. It resets to 0% after a CC is reduced. Overheal is also good here but feels too specialized.
Domination: life steal is kind of a protection, and it should be only available here. I would add a minion/monster only life steal, which could help in early game. E.g. below 50% health, killing a minion/monster restores health.
Sorcery: I think Nullifying Orb should reduce all ability damage as well. As for me, this is the worst tree since it should focus on mid lane mages, but it works better on other classes (assassins, poking supports).
Inspiration: Celestial body is a strange design, 10% is bad even for supports. I would add another disadvantage.
Some general thoughts:
- I like that extra gold for supports is moved to items (except one major rune), so supports can use any path.
- I like that free items worth around 300 gold, so their advantage is comparable.
- I like that most specializations (e.g. vision war) is tied to one tree. You cannot get everything from one path.
- I like the number (4+2) of rune slots. Please keep it this way.
Overall I am very satisfied with this change. I hope you will fix the rough edges, and replace unpopular runes. I feel Sorcery needs the most work. The rest is ok.
