Can someone please tell me how to succeed in Ranked

Your Next Kill··2 votes·626 views

I'm just out of options at this point. About to give up Ranked for good. I first started playing Ranked this week after always playing norms both this season and last. I did my promos a long time ago and I was placed in B1. Since I started playing this week, I have won ONCE, and lost TEN, and have now tanked to B4. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. Can someone please give me any tips on actually winning, because I have no fucking clue what it's like

Looking at your match history, you're bouncing all over champion wise. Unless you're high skilled, dont do that in ranked. Pick two roles to learn only, and no more than 3 champs per role. It will improve your consistency a ton. In lower tiers, "counter picks" dont matter as much if you know how to play your one guy very well.

Tips for Ranked:

  1. CS is king is ranked. It is the easiest and most predictable way to get gold so when you are about to do something, think about how many creeps you are giving up to do that. Thinking about backing? Think "hmm if I back now with the enemy laner still there I am going to lose around 2 waves, so is it possible for me to stay in lane or will I put myself at a bigger disadvantage and risk dying by doing so". 16-18 creeps is the same gold as a kill, always remember that when you want to roam or pull off some #LCSBIGPLAY which is gonna make you die anyways.

  2. Buy pink wards. It's pretty simple and straight forward but just buy them, they last forever (unless destroyed) and vision is super important to you and your team. You can look up a ton of warding guides and it takes 2 minutes to see where the best spots to ward in lane are and for objectives.

  3. Don't be a dick. Everyone has bad games, making sure they know it is not going to make them play any better because 80% of the time they know they fucked up. If someone messes up you don't need to say "gg first time graves can't stop dying" and could say something more like "Don't worry about it graves, their Riven is getting pretty strong though so you may want to stay back a bit and farm the jungle until she leaves lane. Our team is still in good shape."

  4. Find 1-2 champions for the two lanes you play and spam the shit out of them. One Trick Pony'ing it is the easiest way to climb because you know those 1-2 champions inside and out and know their strengths and weaknesses. Pretty much any champion can carry up until Plat/Diamond so it doesn't really matter what champion you choose. Find one you find fun and can stand to play over and over and spam that champion.

  5. Play for fun and to improve and not to climb. If you take climbing too seriously then you will be the tiltlord of every game and feed your ass off when you don't play well. Just realize some games are going to be better than others and try to have a little fun, it is a game at the end of the day.

Just a few things I can think of off the top of my head, hope it helped a bit!

Check out your profile before you start.

By looking at your champions it doesn't look like you play support. If you look at it, you have close to 0 action score. You have almost no versatility with champions, you have very minimal warding, and you have almost no objectives control. To top it off, unless you are playing support, your farming is absolutely horrendous.

So lets start off with your warding. It looks like you aren't even using all of your trinkets that you possibly can.

Action Score, it looks like you never fight anyone... (ever)

Versatility, you don't know how to handle different situations, or play a large variety of champs. Stop copying the pro builds because they are pros, find your own way to win lane. If that means rushing a thornmail as your first time, go for it.

Objecives control, do you even take dragon... or push towers or inhibs?

Lastly, looking at your build... Why would you build 3 warmogs on mundo? They give 850 HP, You could have swapped 1 out for a frozen mallet. (200 less hp, but now you have an on attack slow). Also, you do realize to make HP more effective, you do need some sort of armor and magic resistance. Spirit visage gives 20% bonus healing. Which would also give you more effective hp than 1 warmogs.

Just kind a a tip, and it is going to sound mean, you honestly need to practice, and looking at your account, you might actually belong in bronze 5. It isn't 100% your team keeping you down. You have what looks like very little knowledge of how to actually build and play your champions.

Looking at your Match History:

You wait way too long to buy boots. A lot.

As someone already said, you don't ward enough WardScore.

You are running Tier 1 runes. You should only have Tier 3 runes. And I mean.... you have a mana regen rune on your Yasuo game. Flesh out your rune pages a bit. Even if you only have two rune pages, just make a "standard" AD and AP rune page, minimum. I would literally not play another ranked game until your rune pages are fixed.

Agree with what others said that you are playing too many champions. I would try to stick to Twisted Fate mid and Malphite top, since those seem to be your two best champions.

Work on your farm.

I think just taking care of these things will do a lot for you. Good luck.
